Our beta program for PlayStation 4’s next major system software update, version 3.50 (codenamed MUSASHI), kicks off tomorrow. If you signed up for the beta and were selected, keep an eye on your email for instructions on downloading.
Regardless of whether you’re in the beta, we wanted to detail some of the key features we’re adding to PS4 in this update. We’re making it easier to play together with friends and adding the ability to appear offline when you’d rather play solo.
New Social Features
- Friend Online Notification – Want to know the moment your friends come online? With this update, you can, as we’ve added an option to be notified when members of your friends list sign on the network.
- Appear Offline – Sometimes you want to play a game or watch a movie without being bothered by friends. Now it’s easier to go incognito as we’ve added the option to appear offline. You can designate if you would like to appear offline when you log-in or at any time from your Profile or the Quick Menu.
- User Scheduled Event – Time for a play date! We’ve added the ability to schedule a future gameplay session with your friends on the system. When your event starts, users who registered for the event will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away.
- Play Together – This features allows all members of a Party to see what each person is playing so that you can easily join a friend’s game, or start a new game together.
Other New System Features
- Remote Play (PC/Mac) – We’re bringing PS4 Remote Play to Windows PC and Mac. This feature won’t be available to test in the beta, but you can look forward to it soon.
- Dailymotion – With this update, you’ll be able to live stream directly to Dailymotion on PS4. We’ll also support archiving live broadcasts, like we do for other streaming services.

The one thing I’m still looking for is TRIM support for SSDs. Load times are getting out of hand, for example Fallout 4.
I don’t need it today, but in the future would be nice.
I didn’t know I had to sign up for the update. So I don’t have the system update. I was told that it would be released yesterday, but I didn’t get it

Aww man, I really want to help out with the Beta, but I was totally bummed out last time when they disabled my ability to stream to my Vita. And it happened again!!! Why!? I use my vita almost nightly as a remote play when the kids have the TV system, or just drifting off to sleep for some extra Diablo III time.

to be honest guys id like to see them add a snap feature like the xbox one that could be usful
i kinda been playing my ps4 on my pc by using blustacks player to emulate an android phone then i use six axis controller app to be able to use me ps4 controller on the “android” after the controler is set up i use the remote play app
Honestly, I’m still rocking my ps3 because until the ps4 can do everything the 3 can… I’m not interested in wasting money. Better graphics does not make a better machine. And right now, my “outdated” ps3 does more of what I want, why don’t you make the ps4 do EVERYTHING the ps3 does first, then start adding.

I wonder if this update will allow players like myself who do not have Internet to view trophies and watch movies without internet at all?

I wonder whenever sony would add some features like A-B repeat and volume control for PS4 system when playing dvds and blu-ray videos? Sony did put those features on the PS3 system in the past, but been waiting for those two features on the PS4 system as soon as possiable.
Remote streaming stopped working with the vita once I downloaded the 3.50 firmware beta. Hope a fix is comming soon.
Please make it so you can put games on an external hard drive! It’s the one advantage the Xbox One has over the PS4!

You people are so fckn whiney. We are getting new features slowly but surely. Each of us, I’m sure, have been wanting a lot of different features. I really wanted the friend online notification and there it is. But, FOLDER MANAGEMENT?!?!? Why TF have so many of you been wanting that so bad?? I have ZERO problems finding the things I’m looking for. The PS4 is kill ALL “competition.” If you guys have such a problem with how “bad” the PS4 is, you can always buy an Xbox…..lmfao. I heard they’re really good. :p
Also, why do you wanthink personal video streaming to other people?? That’s what Skype is for on your PC/MAC. lol.
