Announcing Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC

Today I’m pleased to share an important new moment in PlayStation history that will power the next 20 years of PlayStation innovation.

We are announcing the formation of a new company called Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC (SIE) that will serve as the headquarters for everything PlayStation. This new company, headquartered out of the United States in San Mateo, California, joins the forces of both Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. and Sony Network Entertainment LLC, combining the strengths and talents of both companies.

The formation of SIE will create an even stronger PlayStation. That means an even bigger emphasis on developing pioneering platforms like PS4 and PlayStation VR, world-class games from our Worldwide Studios development teams, and innovative network services such as PlayStation Vue.

It also means a renewed commitment to making PlayStation the best place to play.

Thank you for joining us on this important step in PlayStation history. And as always, we are deeply grateful for your continued support and feedback. We’re excited to undertake this next step in PlayStation history with you!

    Cool. Interesting news, and glad to be a part of another milestone in Playstation history. Also, when will this actually begin? The post sounded like it was presented in future tense.

      Dude…do you know how to swap out the HDD? Takes 5 minutes…2TB in mine that’ll last a while. Got the drive at costco for 70 bucks.

    This is good to hear. At least if the parent company gets into a dire financial situation, they can sell off some or even all of their other business lines and keep Playstation alive and in the hands of the people who have kept it flourishing for 20 years now. I mean they could have anyway but at least this seems to show some acknowledgement and preparation on their part, hopefully it isn’t just flat out saying that’s what’s going to happen though, lol.

    Good grief, people. It was officially announced a long time ago that the Vita will not receive first-party support anymore. No amount of pestering is going to change that. It continues to receive many new games from third-party studios.

    So when can I expect to see a new JET MOTO game ? It would make an AWESOME PLAYSTATION VR game, or just make it for PS4, PS3, PS VITA, plenty of new pop culture companies to throw in the game for advertising! Would be cool to see new fresh graphics, would look mind blowing in comparison with the last JET MOTO. Or you could just finish the JET MOTO games from the PS2 and finally release them as PSN games.

      As someone that works regularly with India my best advice is: don’t confuse rudeness with lack of speaking practice… Many people from India tend to sound awfully rude, but it’s just a language barrier

    I love my Vita too!!!!! Now make PS4 backwards compatible and let us play these new PS2 games on Vita too(not just remote play)

    hopefully the new company can put together a worthwhile monthly lineup for psn games, because the current company has failed miserably on a monthly basis for the last 2 years.

      First thing I noticed too. PlayStation Vita is one excellent System but SONY just forgot it. I believe the REAL problem is the expensive Memory Cards SONY Sell.

    I didn’t have any idea that Sony was merging studios. Not sure what the significance of this move is. So long in-house exclusives are still being delivered i’m cool with it. That being said I can’t wait for Uncharted 4 and MLB 16:TS.

    Mr. Shawn Layden, I honestly wish success for this but, WHERE is the Vita? You people just forgot about it? It’s a shame because I believe is one of the BEST Systems ever made. Do you want to sell them as deserves? So, low the ridiculous price of it’s Memory Cards!!!
    We DESERVE PSOne, PlayStation 2 and PLAYSTATION 3 Backwards Compatibility at no cost, Do IT! Let us use the PLAYSTATION 3 Memory Card Adaptor for it.
    PlayStation Now shouldn’t cost more than $49.99 a Year. Offer a “Combo” PS Plus & PS Now at $74.99 or something.
    PlayStation Now must allow us to play for free the games we already own, Disc Based and Digital.
    The way you’re selling PlayStation 2 Games on PlayStation 4 is an insult for us, people who already own the Games. Plus, let us transfer the Save Data to a PlayStation 2 using the PLAYSTATION 3 Memory Card Adaptor.
    I hope right people can read this Messages. I have read them and know I’m not the only one.

    I want playstation vita 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Vita is way better than my galaxy s6 edge smartphone I’ve tried all the crappy cheap emulators like ps2/psp/gamecube etc….. they suck controls are buggy and graphics are obviously no better than a ps2 as that is the best of emulators I’ve seen work efficiently so far…… and I dont want to play childish novice games from the app store……. I want hardcore Japan sony exclusive games like The ones I have right now for vita which are:

    Dragonball Z battle of Z, J-stars victory vs+, hatsune miku project diva, Sword art online lost song, gundam breaker 1 and 2, gundam seed destiny, dynasty warriors, god eater, phantasy star, etc….

    And guess what as a hardcore gamer with a ps4, ps3, ps2, xbox, xbox 360, xbox one, playstation vita, Nintendo 3ds (only got the piece of crap so I could play pokemon), (no wii cause wii is just stupid and old) I can officially say that playstation vitas graphics are almost as good as some ps3 games the difference sometimes is so small you won’t notice unless your really paying attention to details…..compare gundam breaker 2 for vita to ps3 version or compare dragonball z battle of z for vita to ps3 version…..the differences are not much
