As we look forward to the New Year, we’re excited to share our January 2016 PlayStation Plus lineup with everyone. This month our PS4 games pay homage to a couple classic, fan-favorite titles, while updating the gameplay and graphics to PS4!
Hardware: Rivals makes its exclusive debut on PlayStation Plus. Get behind the wheel of a powerful tank or mobile attack jeep in this arcade-style, vehicle combat game. Inspired by the PS2 classic Hardware: Online Arena, Hardware: Rivals lets you challenge your friends or enter the online multiplayer arena on your own and experience epic vehicular mayhem with multiple maps, game modes, and special events.
If you need a breather from all the vehicle-on-vehicle combat, you can always turn to the twisted Mexican folklore of Grim Fandango Remastered. As Manny Calavera, travel agent for the Department of Death, you’ll guide poor souls to their eternal rest. Crime. Skeletons. Romance. You’ll experience it all in this update to the beloved adventure game.
These PS4 games are free for PlayStation Plus members starting on the first Tuesday of January, and you can find the full list of PlayStation Plus games below.
Full Lineup:
- Dragon Age: Origins, PS3
- Grim Fandango Remastered, PS4, PS Vita
- Hardware: Rivals, PS4
- Legends of War Patton, PS Vita
- Medal of Honor Warfighter, PS3
- Nihilumbra, PS Vita
Before you go, we want your feedback! Please leave us a comment below and tell us what you think of the lineup. Thank you for stopping by.
Until next time! Enjoy.
A list of possible games that wouldn’t take too much convincing from publishers.
1. Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed. It’s already on sale at least once if not twice a month.
2. Alien Isolation. Let’s be real, Sega could use it.
3. AC 4: Black Flag. It’s old enough and the last one that had actual multiplayer.
4. Batman Arkham Knight. It’s a given since the only not on it is Origins.
5. Battlefield 4 or Hardline. 4 is old enough to where its always on sale and Hardline was poor enough to use the help.
6. Bound by Flame. Plus could use another rpg and this one pretty much went unnoticed.
7. Call of Duty Ghosts. No question since there’s not a cod on plus and this would be a given considering its low price point this past holiday.
8. Dark Souls 2. To ready the ds3 hype.
9. EA Sports UFC. A fighter thrown in wouldn’t hurt.
10. Evolve. The fanbase is so low from the launch that 2k shouldn’t care too much from publicity to sale characters or season pass(es).
11. Any F1 game. Do people actually buy these?
12. Farcry 4. At least after Primal comes out, this game is on sale enough too.
13. Any of the older Fifas or Maddens that still have working servers.
14. Infamous Second Son. Anyone that wanted this game has already played it so drop it as a surprise for others like you did Infamous 2.
15. Knack and/or Killzone Shadowfall. Knack would be a give and maybe Killzone since the playerbase is extremely low or at least Intercept.
16. Any Lego game. There are too many for anybody not a kid to wanna play all of them.
17. LBP3. 1 was given as an option in 2011, 2 was one of the first apart of the IGC when it got big, throw 3 in when it hits a 2 year anniversary.
18. Either Metro game. Throw 2033 in since last light was free on ps3.
19. Murdered Soul Suspect. A gem in the right hands but a slight underwhelming game that wouldn’t be too upsetting plus.
20. Need for Speed Rivals. Not a good game in my opinion but some would like it.
21. Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare. It was free for 1 day, why not a month.
22. Rayman Legends. Haven’t heard anything Rayman related lately so why not a solid (AA/A) platformed.
23. Risen 3. Get another action (rpg?) game into the mix.
24. Sniper Elite 3. A solid game with some interesting shots on the anatomy.
25. Sword Art Online Hollow Fragment. It was given free as a preorder bonus as soon as Lost Song was available for preorder. Might not be AAA but why not add a dungeon crawler(?) like preorder dlc’s tend to do.
26. The Last of Us Remastered. There shouldn’t be any problem with this since it was given with nearly every system after it came out. Some people might not have it.
27. The Order 1886. Short game with a nearly one-sided gameplay. Good, interesting story though.
28. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. Probably too soon for plus but I think Activision would try to salvage as much as they can, they still technically get paid for it.
29. Transformer Rise of the Dark Spark. Probably has a cult following somewhere but could use for some build up for new games.
30. Ultra Street Fighter 4. Maybe too soon til 5 but could be good publicity.
31. Watch Dogs. If they still plan to use it as a franchise, Ubisoft can use it.
Another, probably cheaper(maybe), option is to instead of backwards compatibility to the system, add backwards compatibility to PS Now with PS Plus. Everyone would win with that. People can play older (new to some) games while you get increased money for a service that (lets be honest) a small minority of players use. Include the rentals of they want to use it. Or better for you, add a reduced 1 time purchase to games people already own. Like 25-75% off depending on the age and value of the game.
How exactly do you know whether or not it would take much “convincing” from publishers?
They didn’t sell well, didn’t have good reviews, “Sony owners”, or just fall in line based on past free games with plus.
*”Sony owned”
And also, a good amount of these are constantly on sale.
