PlayStation Vue Launches Today in Chicago, NYC, Philadelphia

I am excited to announce that PlayStation Vue has officially launched today in Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia on PS4 and PS3. PlayStation Vue is a new service that combines live and on-demand TV, and a cloud based DVR to stream the best TV shows, movies and sports directly to your console without a cable or satellite subscription.

PlayStation Vue

We set out to build this revolutionary product with our community of gamers in mind. This latest addition to PlayStation Network lets you experience TV the way you have always wanted it. Your favorite shows and channels will always be front and center whenever you start PlayStation Vue. When you are looking for something new and exciting to watch, powerful discovery tools will help you filter thousands of shows in just moments, so you can search less and watch more. The cloud based DVR lets you save your favorite shows with no programming conflicts and store recorded episodes for up to 28 days.

PlayStation Vue

PlayStation Vue is initially available on PS4 and PS3 in Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia. We are working hard to deliver PlayStation Vue to more cities soon. We are also bringing PlayStation Vue to iPad in the near future.

If you are ready to start Vueing, go to PlayStation Store on your console or visit our website for more details and ongoing updates.

  • We need CW and ABC

  • When is this thing gonna go National? I live in Louisville, KY, and I’m seriously intrigued by this prospect!

  • Are there any plans to offer the Elite package without Core?

  • Will you be adding more channels? Especially for Elite? For the same price??

  • When come to maine

  • Bring to more states and it would be an instant hit

  • Well really not impressed with the service, the interface (keep it simple), and the price point. I have a 50mb internet connection and I usually experienced about five buffers or more during a half hour show, very annoying. This never happens with the Xfinity live streaming or live streaming a channel through the Playon server.

The Elite package at $69.99 a bit high of a price for a lot of nothing. (come on Cloo really?) But add internet service which most are priced at $59.99 to $79.99 just does not make scents to me. That is way above what I am paying right now for cable and internet.

We have only one PS system so the other two TV’s become what, paper weights? Hopefully over time a companion system or device is made available for multi TV families at a low price point.

To compete with the cable companies you will need to lower you price point, and offer a bit more on the tech side. I applaud the effort, and I know your angle, go after the naïve who have the money to burn and don’t research, but wish there was a little more to love for the average Joe.

  • For the Ps4 vue service to be successful they need to add abc espn 1 and 2 the disney channels local sports for your area and they do need to come down in the costs some to compete with others similar services like sling etc. But all in all it looks like a good service but it does need a few things to improve it.

  • Investigative discovery needs to be added to the Chicago package

  • I can’t wait to cut the cord with Cablevision
