While developing the PlayStation 4 system, our hardware and software teams relied on feedback from our community of developers. The result is the most innovative and forward-thinking gaming console in the market today. Since launch, PlayStation has continued that trend of listening to feedback by bringing some of the most highly requested features from the PlayStation Nation to PS4 with each of our system software updates. When we unveiled PS4 two years ago, we announced Suspend/Resume, a feature that would enable PS4 users to jump in and out of their games faster than ever. This has been a feature gamers have been excited about since then, and today I am honored to officially confirm that system software update 2.50, “Yukimura,” will soon deliver Suspend/Resume, as well as a number of other requested features to PS4.
Suspend/Resume, which will be supported by nearly all PS4 titles, will create an atmosphere where your games are immediately available at any time — just pick up your DualShock 4 wireless controller, hit the PS button and get right back into the action of your games. When it’s time to log off, simply put your PS4 in Rest Mode and when you power up the next time, you’ll start your game where you left off. Spend less time getting into your games and more time playing them.
Here are some of the other highly requested new features and changes coming soon in “Yukimura:”
- Sub-account to Master account Upgrade: Users with a sub-account will now be able to upgrade to a master account directly from their PS4 when they turn 18, removing restrictions for chat, enabling users to fund their own wallet, make purchases and more. Currently, users can upgrade their sub-accounts online at https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/.
- Facebook Friend Search: Gamers globally have jumped into PS4 as a redefined social gaming experience and connecting with friends over the network is a huge part of what makes the PS4 community so special. PlayStation now lets you go even bigger by connecting with your Facebook friends on PS4 using your linked account. Search for Facebook friends who are PlayStation Network members and build on the foundation of Friends you already have in your list.
- Remote Play & Share Play at 60 fps: For games that support 60 fps, the ability to customize the frame rate of Remote Play and Share Play will be added with “Yukimura.” Play to your bandwidth strengths and use this option to stream gameplay at 60 or 30 fps when using Remote Play or Share Play on supported devices.
- Accessibility Options: “Yukimura” introduces a wide variety of options to make their PS4 entertainment experience even more accessible. Options include text to speech, enlarged text, bolder fonts, higher contrast UI, zoom for displayed pictures, invert colors on screen and more. Users will also be able to reassign buttons for DualShock 4, making it easier for users with limited manual dexterity or limited reach and strength to play.
- Trophy Improvements: We have received a ton of feedback to improve Trophies. In “Yukimura,” a screenshot will automatically be captured at the moment a Trophy is earned, making it easier than ever for you to share your greatest gaming moments with your friends. We’re also adding more sorting options along with the new ability to remove games from the Trophy list that have 0% completion.
- Share Video Clips to Dailymotion: When sharing standout PS4 moments via the Share button on DualShock 4, “Yukimura” will allow players to upload directly to Dailymotion.

I don’t know if this is fixable with a patch but basically the controller I got with ps ps4 a month or so ago. It worked fine but now the Sony headphones I am using with an inline mic are constantly crackling, they work okay but then they crackle, when I touch the cable and try to adjust it but I can’t get it back to normal. The headphones work fine in all other devices and I can’t figure out why it is doing it just in the controller. Help?

This is great! but the two things I’ve been wanting is a way to organize the PS4’s dashboard (or whatever it’s called) and to exact purchase things on the PSN Store that are below $5.

Yeah thats a whole lot of non committal crap. The PS4 has been out for over a year. The features that you claimed would be on there at launch are still not on there. I spend my money on Sony products because I expect the high standards your company held for so long. But it’s becoming less and less true every day. You’ve stop listening to your customers and it’s showing. I bought a vita. It’s been pretty much a failture. Horrible game catalog, features that barely work. The PS4 has been pretty much the same. for the first 6 months, you had almost no game catalog, and even now it’s still nowhere near where the ps3 was one year after launch. It’s sad that I wish my PS3 never died that way i wouldn’t own a ps4. DNLA has been important to us. and all we keep getting is excuses. Come on Sony. Step up and give us what we paid for.

– Wishlist System (With notifications for when the game goes on sale)
– Choose Themes and Music Separately (Along with requiring AT LEAST a screenshot for themes, if not a video. The fact that practically none of the paid themes have any sort of preview is simply unacceptable).
– 4-Player SharePlay
– Increase ShareFactory’s limit to 30 minutes
– More Stable “What’s New” section, with notifications for when friends start streaming, upload a video, etc.
– Dedicated Twitch App
– Let us navigate the main menu with the touchpad, using it like a normal D-Pad. I find myself wanting to use a few quick swipes sometimes. Expanding on this, add support for it to what arguable needs it the most: The Internet browser.
Just some quick suggestions that I’d like to see added. Particularly the Themes and touchpad stuff (You added the touchpad, now prove to me that it was a good idea. Only inFAMOUS: SS has used it well so far, and First Light sadly abandoned that approach, along with The Order).
Oh, and please add an Undo button to Sharefactory. Even despite the tight 15 minute limit, it still has a lot of potential… But not having the option to undo/redo actions limits its convenience somewhat.
Would be awesome if you add the function of sharing an image to imgur or even save it on Dropbox, Google Drive, etc…
While I’m not exactly looking forward to most of these features as I won’t be using them, I’m still very glad they’re here now because I know some other people would appreciate and use them. More importantly, though, suspend/resume is finally here!
Now I just have to wait for a USB Video Player feature~

Anything you can share about Playstation Music/Spotify? That would be nice.
With the screenshot of trophies, will this be able to be turned off? I would not like this as it would just clutter up my harddrive and I don’t really need a screenshot of the trophies. What would I do with them? My friends can already see that I earn trophies in their home screen so why would I need that? Also I’m not sure if this is a feature already or not but I didn’t see it. On PS3 you could turn off the ps3 after updates were done, whereas on the ps4 you put it in sleep to do the updates. But I prefer turning it off entirely as I just am paranoid about shortening the life span or overheating and melting parts of it’s always on, draining power.
But looking forward to deletion of trophies very helpful especially for those who don’t have cameras and clicked on play room

when will we be able to play mp4s on the ps4 like we could on ps3? it kinda feels like the ps4 was a slight downgrade function-wise. i really liked the ps3’s ‘media center vibe’ and was hoping the ps4 would be an improvement but was disapointed when i had to wait til’ the masamune update just to play mp3 and even then i needed to use a flash drive!

Hy,cool update! That friend online/offline stuff would be cool, but in the future please add a feature where we can navigate the notification bar to other places on the screen.Its not that good when you’re playing cod and you can’t see the minimap because your friend left the party.
I would like to start by saying I am huge fan of Sony gaming consoles. I do not believe there is a better gaming system out there. I am glad that you are offering more updates to improve the console in the areas that you have but when can we expect to get back the feature of the PS3, like the ability to add photos, videos, movies and music?
That is probably one of the main things that drew people to this gaming system in the first place because “it only does everything” or it used too. Like I used the picture slide show with the music to host my sisters wake and I have many children with a great deal of pictures and videos featuring them on my PS3 that I share across my home network for everyone to enjoy. I would love to do the same with my PS4. Those features are some of the biggest reason I purchased the PS4 and not just 1 but 2 of them. I am very disappointed in the lack of these features.
Any chance for the ability to play, rip, & create our own playlists from audio CDs for custom in game soundtracks or just simply playback CDs in the future? Would be great to have custom tunes for my batter walk-up in The Show and entrance themes for WWE 2K15…
How do we upgraded to it because I want it
With the upgrade to master account from a sub account option, does the user still have access to all the games downloaded by the original master account as long as they are using the same system? For example if my daughter had been using a sub-account to play games i purchased and then turned 18 and upgraded to a master account would she loose access to those games or would she retain access as long as she used a system my account was logged into?

While this is somewhat true, there is still a bit of compression on the local files, PNG support just like Xbox One has would be very VERY appreciated. Please put that on the To-Do list.

Any chance of removing games that you tried and didn’t like but unlocked like 5% of trophies?
Is it possible to have higher quality video recording, or at 60fps? I’m wondering because as much as I love the Share feature to record video, it would be nice to capture it at a higher resolution. Maybe an optional feature that captures the last 5 minutes of footage, but at 1080p?
Sounds amazing and I can’t wait. How about some Google+ supports vs just Facebook? Would also be cool to be able to access my Google Play Music on my PS4.

Ok, nice features. But can you PLEASE fix the bad quality for Twitch/Ustream streams. Increase the bitrate and/or add 60fps in next update would be lifesaving.

Another feature on top of tons of others the Ps3 had that the Ps4 doesn’t seem to is the auto update while turned off my internet is lacking so updates can take awhile and my rest mode still hasn’t been that reliable since you guys “fixed it” with the last update.
The ability to remove games with 0% trophies is a step in the right direction, however it’s not enough.
We need the ability to remove games WITH trophies. I understand that you limited this to 0% for the sake “trophy integrity” but that’s wrong and ruins this feature before it even exists.
At the bare minimum it needs to be able to delete games with less than X number of trophies. For example, games with under 15% completion should be allowed to be removed. Not games with 0% that have basically never been played, that’s good, but at the same time pointless.
Think of all the people who picked up a game recommended by a friend, only to hate it and never touch it again after earning only 1 or 2 trophies. Now they are stuck with that game on their list that they have zero interest in ever picking up again. THAT is where the ability to delete games from your trophy list can truly shine.
Let us remove these games that have only a few trophies that we do not want to play anymore.
What about small features like seeing when friends come online and the ability to appear offline?

Oh and the ability to change my PSN username. I hate having a username I created way back when the PS3 was first released and creating a new account isn’t really an option as I have tons of purchases and trophies assigned to this account.
I would like game sorting features in my ps store download list. I recently upgraded my storage on both my ps3 and vita. It takes so long to redownload games when you have so many games and don’t remember everything you have. As a result I have to search thru a huge download list. It would be much more convenient if I could filter out demos, avatars, videos, and themes so I can get to my purchased games and ps+ games.
It’s crazy on vita that I have to scroll thru hundreds of things I’ve downloaded(including ps3 content that won’t work on vita). Also there are still quite a few PSone classics and psp games that I can’t download directly to my vita(have to download to ps3 and transfer) or just don’t work at all on vita.
