While developing the PlayStation 4 system, our hardware and software teams relied on feedback from our community of developers. The result is the most innovative and forward-thinking gaming console in the market today. Since launch, PlayStation has continued that trend of listening to feedback by bringing some of the most highly requested features from the PlayStation Nation to PS4 with each of our system software updates. When we unveiled PS4 two years ago, we announced Suspend/Resume, a feature that would enable PS4 users to jump in and out of their games faster than ever. This has been a feature gamers have been excited about since then, and today I am honored to officially confirm that system software update 2.50, “Yukimura,” will soon deliver Suspend/Resume, as well as a number of other requested features to PS4.
Suspend/Resume, which will be supported by nearly all PS4 titles, will create an atmosphere where your games are immediately available at any time — just pick up your DualShock 4 wireless controller, hit the PS button and get right back into the action of your games. When it’s time to log off, simply put your PS4 in Rest Mode and when you power up the next time, you’ll start your game where you left off. Spend less time getting into your games and more time playing them.
Here are some of the other highly requested new features and changes coming soon in “Yukimura:”
- Sub-account to Master account Upgrade: Users with a sub-account will now be able to upgrade to a master account directly from their PS4 when they turn 18, removing restrictions for chat, enabling users to fund their own wallet, make purchases and more. Currently, users can upgrade their sub-accounts online at https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/.
- Facebook Friend Search: Gamers globally have jumped into PS4 as a redefined social gaming experience and connecting with friends over the network is a huge part of what makes the PS4 community so special. PlayStation now lets you go even bigger by connecting with your Facebook friends on PS4 using your linked account. Search for Facebook friends who are PlayStation Network members and build on the foundation of Friends you already have in your list.
- Remote Play & Share Play at 60 fps: For games that support 60 fps, the ability to customize the frame rate of Remote Play and Share Play will be added with “Yukimura.” Play to your bandwidth strengths and use this option to stream gameplay at 60 or 30 fps when using Remote Play or Share Play on supported devices.
- Accessibility Options: “Yukimura” introduces a wide variety of options to make their PS4 entertainment experience even more accessible. Options include text to speech, enlarged text, bolder fonts, higher contrast UI, zoom for displayed pictures, invert colors on screen and more. Users will also be able to reassign buttons for DualShock 4, making it easier for users with limited manual dexterity or limited reach and strength to play.
- Trophy Improvements: We have received a ton of feedback to improve Trophies. In “Yukimura,” a screenshot will automatically be captured at the moment a Trophy is earned, making it easier than ever for you to share your greatest gaming moments with your friends. We’re also adding more sorting options along with the new ability to remove games from the Trophy list that have 0% completion.
- Share Video Clips to Dailymotion: When sharing standout PS4 moments via the Share button on DualShock 4, “Yukimura” will allow players to upload directly to Dailymotion.

hey psn you should make an update for the vita via remote play feature to work with vita camera and mic also i loved that feature on the ps3 were we can download and upload videos ya’ll should bring that to ps4
No external hard drive support? Because I’m running out of space.. It’s easier for me to buy digital games.
Awesome lineup of features, but do have one feature requests that will make things easier for everybody. Please bring back the FULL back up feature like it was on the PS3. It would be so much easier and less time consuming if we can back up all our games and themes into an external HDD and restore it on a bigger internal HDD. Redownloading and reinstalling every game on a new internal HDD can be very tedious.
PS4 2.50 update sounds alot bigger than 2.00. It’s a good thing that sony is beta testing it before releasing it to the public. It also would be nice to add more features for dvd and bluray playback such as volume control and A-B repeat for PS4. PS3 already have A-B repeat and volume control. I also wonder whenever there would be a dvd/bluray remote control support for PS4 instead of using PS4 controller to operate dvd and bluray functions.
I hope there will be an update eventually that allows you to better organise or navigate the dashboard, or at least have the library at the start instead of having to scroll through everything.
I don’t really like the Internet browser, it should support Xbmc would make it much better.plus everytime you go to a website it automatically added to bookmarks.i always seem to get a cannot connect to server error as well even though I’m connected to the Internet
i wish external drive support will be included on this release. or just even a backup system where we can backup some of our games into an external hdd. not all people has good ISP subscription you know!
Still no media playback from USB
USB headphone audio through my ps4 is literally backwards; My left and right channels are switched which is almost as impressive as the front and back audio also being inverted. The optical port and headphone port on the controller have none of this added difficulty. Angled drivers prevent me from wearing my headphones backwards along with the discomfort. Please let the software team know about this issue or else I’ll be forced to release the access codes to the Zion mainframe.
Wouldn’t hiding games rather than removing them from the trophies list be a better option to avoid having to limit it to games with 0%?
Suggestions:
1. Hide and/or remove apps (example: Redbox Instant) and games (example: Destiny Alpha/Beta) from the PS4 Library
2. An option to organize games into a folder similar to the way it’s done with apps on the PS4
3. An option to change PSN ID for those that want and/or need to do so
external HDD support? Please!

And what about all those trashy games that you open up only to see if you like them (PS+ anyone?) and they pop up a trophy just for starting it? We can’t delete those because they’re officially 1%. Limiting deletion to 0% is stupid we should be able to delete whatever we don’t want dampening our records, our total earned trophies will drop and we lose level and such ratings so there’s nothing wrong with it.

Even the avatars we purchase on PS3 don’t show on the PS4 avatars list, which is sad.
Can we get MGS and Metal Gear Rising avatars? Also, for the standard ones, I’d like the kind Xbox has wiith all the different animals. The plolygon-style tigers and wolves. Maybe some snakes and dinosaurs. A dragon? Some simplistic ones. The ones on Xbox One are amazing, and I’d ones similar to those on Xbox One. Also, more avatars with the full square shape around them, instead of icons with transparent backgrounds. Maybe you could do ink-art animals instead. What about uploading music to the PS4 to use in-game, with developer built-in options? It’s a b***h having to adjust volumes for game sounds in the game, and then having to pause the game and back out to the PS button options to change the track or volume. Don’t even get me started on how much I hate not being able to customize sounds within’ MLB: The Show for my favorite team or have some killer walk-up or entrance music for my RTTS players.
PS4 owners have many legit gripes and wants, most relating to features PS3 has had since launch. Many others being specifically promised items or things that have only become relevant in the current console generation. So like I said, this is all legit and I respect it.
But additionally, I would love to see 0% trophy deletion extended to PS3 for those like me who don’t have a PS4 yet (or just anyone who still uses their PS3).
I’m also with those who would like to see any% trophy deletion for all systems, perhaps with a few layers of “are you sure?” messages or password protection to prevent accidental/malicious trophy deletions. Maybe consider having the ability to undo changes as long as you don’t shut down the system.

I just want to echo the “when are we going to flipping get video chat” comments. ANd also – yes I have seen the ooVoo announce – which is interesting, but not really ueful since no one on earth uses oooVoo. I want to see integration with a video chat service people I know actually use like Google Hangouts or Skype or Facebook – any of those would be fine.
This update 2-3 years later and yet no support for your own products to work on PS4 absolute garbage you guys know nothing other than scaming people for their hard earned money bring out a system that is lightyears behind an old system lmfao you keep on scamming
What I REALLY miss is to make a full backup of all my saved games instead of going through them one by one. After my hard drive crashed I had to also download all the digital games again, which took a whole weekend meanwhile dragging down the performance of all my other networked devices. I am certain you could create a backup of the games (1TB external drives cost like nothing anymore) and encrypt them with a token so only the rightful owner could restore them. This token should be connected to the online profile so that there can be no mistake who is requesting the restore from the backup. As soon as the restore is done, the token on the new PS4 is overwritten by the one from the restore and recovery is complete. Just in case you are afraid of security…. that is how it works, encrypt, tokenize and make sure it is only for the rightful owner.
Reading through comments and replies ive two suggestion, video accessibility via usb so I maywatch videos saved to usb from playroom phone etc. And I also agree with the personal picture etc for a wallpaper theme or avatar. Excuse me, AND avatar. I don’t think either of those things would need much work as far as usb accessibility the cut n paste for same as ps3 would be fine for me. Otherwise kudos fellas I love my ps and its history and evolution.
Also I just read someone suggested external drive for game downloading. . Awesome because ive already upgraded my hard drive to a tb and its already filled. Already had to delete a handful of titles that I’ve paid alot for. And yes I can re down load but who wants to wait hours to play a game I already own

Do we know how Suspend/Resume will work with games that require you to login? ala Destiny?
Is there a mechanism in place to store some sort of session token to be used at startup?

Being the 200th person or so to state this…external hard drive please!! Adding an internal is too tedious of a job.
One thing that I never got an “oficial response” to is: when I’m downloading more than one game at the same time, does it bugs the trophy list? It happened to me twice since I got my PS4.
My latest experience was when I was downloading Telltale Game of Thrones and Life is Strange. I played the first episode of Game of Thrones, with trophies popping up ok. But afterwards, when I wanted to take a look at the trophies I get, Game of Thrones wasn’t even listed.
I read similar problems in some forums, and the solution given was to redownload each game so the trophy list could be properly created.
Thanks! This update sounds great! But I’ve had an idea for awhile. So you can set certain friends where there will be a notification when they get on. This would be great if you’re waiting for a friend to get on and not have to check your friends list every 5 minutes. Can’t wait for more updates to come and it would be amazing if this idea was featured in another update.
Any word on when the message/notification times will be fixed? When someone sends me a message, I’ll get it instantly but it says “7 minutes ago”. The same applies to game invites and other notifications. This has been a minor yet annoying problem since PS4’s launch.
I would love to be able to lend friends digital copy games. Maybe id buy more of them then.
What about DLNA that everybody’s waiting for? My ps4 is currently a paper weight imo.

Backwards compatibility is something a lot of people on the PS4 would love to see, including myself! Not everyone has unlimited internet to be able to stream games online nor can everyone afford a monthly fee for the service you currently have and then another fee for the game its self. Also is it possible to change how games install automatically on the HDD? Can a game not be read from the dvd drive? Perhaps something could be added so that the system can tell if a game has been purchased already or something so that I don’t always see the “buy now” on the menu? That’s not a huge deal and does’t keep you from enjoying a game but for me is a little annoying.

I welcome the remove 0% games from the trophy list but am still shocked that we do not have Usb video playback ,, like the ps3. Pretty embarassing.
In the future can there be another way to include you party chat audio in videos using the share button because me and some of my friends can’t eat it to work no matter what.

However there is one thing that I know was released but has failed to resolve many consoles that wont read the HDMI unless you switch the source on the TV and then switch it back to reset the connection. Still waitin gn for the updates to fix but have just nearly lost hope that it will.

What about sorting out glitches minecraft saves corrupting and then losing everything not once not twice not three times countless times. I have sent reports but no response!
4k update (I heard there was going to be a new console made to allow this) but I refuse to spend another 300/400 on a console. Especially now nvidia are making a console that is cheaper than the current ps4 and supports 4k. I will be dissapointed if there isn’t an update for 4k and only a new console. I appreciate games will not be 4k but films on netflix and amazon are ready to go 4k and sky are talking about 4k channel.
Need better games on the ps4 for playstation plus customers. Competition console has better games monthly.
UK needs playstation now as I wouldn’t mind playing some of the older ps3/ps2 and even ps1 games.
Be able to add and remove folders would be smashing
And able to use Dropbox for online storage for saves as playstation only allow 1gb like I say with minecraft saves being corrupted too often I have started copying to online storage but they use alot of mb per one.
