While developing the PlayStation 4 system, our hardware and software teams relied on feedback from our community of developers. The result is the most innovative and forward-thinking gaming console in the market today. Since launch, PlayStation has continued that trend of listening to feedback by bringing some of the most highly requested features from the PlayStation Nation to PS4 with each of our system software updates. When we unveiled PS4 two years ago, we announced Suspend/Resume, a feature that would enable PS4 users to jump in and out of their games faster than ever. This has been a feature gamers have been excited about since then, and today I am honored to officially confirm that system software update 2.50, “Yukimura,” will soon deliver Suspend/Resume, as well as a number of other requested features to PS4.
Suspend/Resume, which will be supported by nearly all PS4 titles, will create an atmosphere where your games are immediately available at any time — just pick up your DualShock 4 wireless controller, hit the PS button and get right back into the action of your games. When it’s time to log off, simply put your PS4 in Rest Mode and when you power up the next time, you’ll start your game where you left off. Spend less time getting into your games and more time playing them.
Here are some of the other highly requested new features and changes coming soon in “Yukimura:”
- Sub-account to Master account Upgrade: Users with a sub-account will now be able to upgrade to a master account directly from their PS4 when they turn 18, removing restrictions for chat, enabling users to fund their own wallet, make purchases and more. Currently, users can upgrade their sub-accounts online at https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/.
- Facebook Friend Search: Gamers globally have jumped into PS4 as a redefined social gaming experience and connecting with friends over the network is a huge part of what makes the PS4 community so special. PlayStation now lets you go even bigger by connecting with your Facebook friends on PS4 using your linked account. Search for Facebook friends who are PlayStation Network members and build on the foundation of Friends you already have in your list.
- Remote Play & Share Play at 60 fps: For games that support 60 fps, the ability to customize the frame rate of Remote Play and Share Play will be added with “Yukimura.” Play to your bandwidth strengths and use this option to stream gameplay at 60 or 30 fps when using Remote Play or Share Play on supported devices.
- Accessibility Options: “Yukimura” introduces a wide variety of options to make their PS4 entertainment experience even more accessible. Options include text to speech, enlarged text, bolder fonts, higher contrast UI, zoom for displayed pictures, invert colors on screen and more. Users will also be able to reassign buttons for DualShock 4, making it easier for users with limited manual dexterity or limited reach and strength to play.
- Trophy Improvements: We have received a ton of feedback to improve Trophies. In “Yukimura,” a screenshot will automatically be captured at the moment a Trophy is earned, making it easier than ever for you to share your greatest gaming moments with your friends. We’re also adding more sorting options along with the new ability to remove games from the Trophy list that have 0% completion.
- Share Video Clips to Dailymotion: When sharing standout PS4 moments via the Share button on DualShock 4, “Yukimura” will allow players to upload directly to Dailymotion.

Love the idea of the suspend/resume feature and the custom mapping of the controller is just terrific!
Wallpaper like a desktop would be nice but only if there was a way to simplify the home screen. As it is now you wouldn’t be able to see most of the wallpaper.
I do really miss the friend online/offline notifications from the PS3. Lastly, I think this was addressed before but trophies have to be manually added to my Facebook wall while PS3 & Vita post directly to it. Really would like to see that tweaked if possible.

we need more compatibility with the HDD for the ps4 not all the HDD are able to used and we must have more memory in the console
Another update, and we still lack the ability to organize our content. I can put my games and apps in to folders on PS3 and PS Vita, why not on PS4? Also, why can’t I delete or hide certain entertainment apps I don’t use? If I change my mind, I’ll go download it.
* Custom wallpaper (use your own pictures from usb flash drive, or via the web browser)
* Choose to use bundled theme icons or standard icons. (Some themes I like the background, but dislike the custom bundled icons)
* Mandatory video preview for paid Dynamic Themes. (Many paid Dynamic Themes have no preview or only still images) This is unacceptable. I want to know what I’m buying, no buyers remorse.
* Animated screen saver, instead of just dimming the screen.
* Ability to hide certain tiles from the main screen. Or manually reorder the positions.
* Redesign the Capture Gallery tile, it’s just an empty box on the right. Maybe show thumbnails of items in there?
* User created icons on the XMB (like PS3 had)
I hope these suggestions get read and considered, possibly even used :)

I would really like the ability to turn off notifications under certain circumstances. For example a “Turn off Notifications while watching videos” would be cool. That way no notifications pop up while watching Video Unlimited, Netflix, VUDU, etc. :) An awesome update, can’t wait for its release!

Please eventually (Not necessarily this update) give us the ability to play USB video files.Want to get rid of my 360 and this is the only reason Istill use it.
My only question would I be able to play Background music for PS4 games. That’d be awesome.
Can we have an option on which side notifications pop up on? I honestly hate the fact that all the notifications pop up on the top left side of the screen blocking important in game things like radars. I personally liked it better on the right.
Can we get the ability to set our avatar picture to trophies we have earned?
Like say I got the platinum trophy for “Game Title”, and in the throphy list, I can go the that trophy, Options button, and Set to Avatar..
I was wondering if we will be able to remove other games from our trophy list as well, not just the ones with 0%. I have a couple that are 1% and I probably won’t play them anymore.

In an ideal setup, does the 60fps remote play improve the responsiveness of button input over 30fps?
Also for the accessibility options, can analog sticks/triggers be remapped?

2.and the ability to turn off the light on the controller, battery life just isn’t that great (and I know about the other settings)
Wow! Delete the 0% games from my trophy list will be so good, but I just have 5 of them, if possible, I would like to chose some of under 10% completion games, because sometimes you hate the game after the prologue and some trophies pop and reach 4%, 7% and I hate that lol
But I’m happy by now just erasing Playroom that I’ll never play (playstation camera… ¬¬)

These are very important to me and a vast number of people
I would like to see skype functionality or atleast something like it(more use for that awesome camera that i cant use). And also i would like to record the last 15 seconds of my gameplay like what the xbox one can do, i couldnt tell you how many times crazy things have happened and i say “man…wish i could have recorded that.” also i would like to have the abilty to put any custom color on the light bar that i want… Just for personalization.
Left most of my suggestions on page 4, but I forgot to ask for an option to automatically turn off notifications when watching videos. It’s more than a little annoying to always be informed that my controller went to sleep when in a serious moment of a show on Netflix.
Cool update. Here’s my Suggestions:
NEW AVATARS – Game related and other.. Make them available in the PS Store, I’m sure people will buy them. There’s no reason why there isn’t a Football avatar and it’s the number 1 sport in our country..
PS Store load times – i have a pretty beast Internet connection but for some odd reason any video I try to load in the store lags or stops and loads over and over again. Makes me not even want to go through with watching the video since it does that so often.
Friends You May Know- A “yes” or “no” feature should be added so we don’t have to see the same people up there… Similar to what Facebook has with there “Friends Suggestions”…
Players Met- I play NBA 2K15 online every night but for some odd reason none of the people I play show up in my “Players Met”… In fact, my Players Met section only shows a friend who’s party I joined a month ago and the 1 person that was in it… Maybe it’s bug?
Friend Status – It would be really helpful if we can see how long it’s been since someone last logged online… That would also help with deciding who to remove when you’re cleaning your list up.
One more thing:
Gameplay Recording- I think you guys should implement a “stop” feature on recording gameplay.. I like to record my online games and edit them to upload to my Facebook. It’s becoming annoying to have to wait minutes after the game ends for the notification to pop up that the “video clip was saved” before I can start editing it.

Theres two things currently holding back the power of Remote Play.
#1 the latency
#2 the ability to communicate with other people while playing. The experience would be so much better if I could connect my headset to my phone/controller while using remote play to talk with friends instead of just hearing them talk.
Have you thought about getting more than one person to develop the system to maturity?
Please add to PS3 the ability to delete 0% trophies!

Great update! So glad you listened and added the ability to delete trophies. Though I wish you would overhaul the whole system and change the way Trophy lists are implemented. Currently trophies are tied to the specific system you bought it on, rather than the title itself. What I mean is, if I buy GTAV on PS3 and earn trophies for it then decide to buy the PS4 version I now have two trophy lists for the same game. This means you’re allowing people to double up their trophy counts. If I have a game that is available on a number of consoles, the trophy list should reflect that!
I have a question….I own the PS4 camera …I’m just wondering if you will ever have video party chat ….so people with cameras can spend some face time together . It would give my camera a purpose….thanks again. (:

My biggest question is when will the single most requested feature of the PSN finally be rolled out? The ability to change your PSN ID. I am sure MASSIVE amounts of players have changed over the years and I KNOW this is a hugely requested feature. When will that be added?

So are you guys eventually going to make a statement or do anything about installing games onto an external hard drive. We’re already into year 2 and most people’s hard drives are already full. Some people don’t want to risk damaging their systems by putting in a replacement or having someone else do it. Plugging up a larger external is easier to manage and something that the competition does. I think it’s an important feature to have to ensure future commitment to buying more video games over the next 5 to 10 years of this gens cycle.
You guys are doing a great job. Once all the features have been added I wonder what the “concern” trolls will complain about then.
I would like more avatars available for use. The PS4 has hundreds of avatars to choose from but the PS4 has a very limited selection. Can you please incorporate some MLB team logos available? Preferably some SF Giants avatars? Maybe also have the option if using your Facebook profile pic as your avatar even though your not friends with someone in facebook? Let’s us have that option. Friends Folder. So we can group our PSN Friends. Some of my PSN Friends are only for select few games, while some others are family. I want to have Friends Notifications to pop only if they are within certain group category.
Great list of features, particularly the ability to remove 0% games from our trophy list. Mine is littered with them.
Just a shame inspiration and and creativity can’t be pushed out in an update. Most game developers seem to be playing it safe varying only slightly (if at all) from the established consensus of what to put into a game in order to make it sell. Graphics and FPS aside; creativity was really at its best with the PS2 and severely lacking across the board this gen.
I’m still peeved with those turncoats at Insomniac for not releasing Sunset Overdrive on the PS4. That was probably the best example of creativity and breaking from the norms this generation and I can’t play it.
