While developing the PlayStation 4 system, our hardware and software teams relied on feedback from our community of developers. The result is the most innovative and forward-thinking gaming console in the market today. Since launch, PlayStation has continued that trend of listening to feedback by bringing some of the most highly requested features from the PlayStation Nation to PS4 with each of our system software updates. When we unveiled PS4 two years ago, we announced Suspend/Resume, a feature that would enable PS4 users to jump in and out of their games faster than ever. This has been a feature gamers have been excited about since then, and today I am honored to officially confirm that system software update 2.50, “Yukimura,” will soon deliver Suspend/Resume, as well as a number of other requested features to PS4.
Suspend/Resume, which will be supported by nearly all PS4 titles, will create an atmosphere where your games are immediately available at any time — just pick up your DualShock 4 wireless controller, hit the PS button and get right back into the action of your games. When it’s time to log off, simply put your PS4 in Rest Mode and when you power up the next time, you’ll start your game where you left off. Spend less time getting into your games and more time playing them.
Here are some of the other highly requested new features and changes coming soon in “Yukimura:”
- Sub-account to Master account Upgrade: Users with a sub-account will now be able to upgrade to a master account directly from their PS4 when they turn 18, removing restrictions for chat, enabling users to fund their own wallet, make purchases and more. Currently, users can upgrade their sub-accounts online at https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/.
- Facebook Friend Search: Gamers globally have jumped into PS4 as a redefined social gaming experience and connecting with friends over the network is a huge part of what makes the PS4 community so special. PlayStation now lets you go even bigger by connecting with your Facebook friends on PS4 using your linked account. Search for Facebook friends who are PlayStation Network members and build on the foundation of Friends you already have in your list.
- Remote Play & Share Play at 60 fps: For games that support 60 fps, the ability to customize the frame rate of Remote Play and Share Play will be added with “Yukimura.” Play to your bandwidth strengths and use this option to stream gameplay at 60 or 30 fps when using Remote Play or Share Play on supported devices.
- Accessibility Options: “Yukimura” introduces a wide variety of options to make their PS4 entertainment experience even more accessible. Options include text to speech, enlarged text, bolder fonts, higher contrast UI, zoom for displayed pictures, invert colors on screen and more. Users will also be able to reassign buttons for DualShock 4, making it easier for users with limited manual dexterity or limited reach and strength to play.
- Trophy Improvements: We have received a ton of feedback to improve Trophies. In “Yukimura,” a screenshot will automatically be captured at the moment a Trophy is earned, making it easier than ever for you to share your greatest gaming moments with your friends. We’re also adding more sorting options along with the new ability to remove games from the Trophy list that have 0% completion.
- Share Video Clips to Dailymotion: When sharing standout PS4 moments via the Share button on DualShock 4, “Yukimura” will allow players to upload directly to Dailymotion.

Can we get a better UI something with less folders I hate the one dedicated line that holds everything you’ve ever opened I once seen at gsmestop demo ps4 the UI housed actual ps4 games on the screen and it shuffled thru them as you searched for the game you wanted to play and can we get get actual sites that ppl know and use to stream and share video like instagram Facebook things like that and an upgrade to the voice commands to the ps4 camera they do not work at all

Can’t wait to use Suspend/Resume. I use it all the time on Vita and see myself utilising it even more when on PS4.
Could you please also add full HD video and screenshot uploads and or exports? And +1 to the person who suggested personal wallpaper option in place of themes. Again this is something I love using on Vita and it to work similarly on PS4. A lot of people have also been asking for folders, again a la Vita.

Does this mean that share play actually works. Me and my friends tried it numerous times but could never get connected properly, I mean you literally had to be in the same room to share play.

Also faster ps4 messaging system like when sending a message from ps4 at certain times of the day it seems slow and sits there at 97% and then fails then it brings the resend message. I hate that, please fix the messaging system!
Why arent they adding media playback. Seriously all i want is for my ps4 to play .mkv files and .mp3 files…..flac if possible. IS IT THAT HARD? Ive been a loyal supporter of playstation since the PSone, but this is getting ridiculous.

What is especially annoying to me about this update is I have been wanting a Cinch or Scuf customized controller for a while now. I wanted one because of the difficulty of using the l3/r3 buttons, or some combinations such as pressing x and triangle at the same time was sometimes hard.
I strongly preferred Cinch, because I liked where extra buttons were placed, but they did not have a re-mappable PS4 controller option, where Scuf did.
Problem is, Scuf only has 2 extra buttons/paddles for the PS4 controller, and as mentioned previously, their location is not as nice as where Cinch has theirs.
But with Bloodborne coming out soon….I gave up on waiting for Cinch to release their remappable button controller so I ordered a Scuf using the send in service.
It shipped yesterday!
I will need to sell this thing as soon as possible!
tl;dr For me, the remappable button customization option is a welcome feature, but a bittersweet one
More profile avatars would be great! Maybe have games offer them as presale bonuses or award them for completing in game tasks/trophies? Maybe the ability to use trophy images that we’ve unlocked? More in any way would be awesome. Thank you!

So now we’ll be able to delete games from our trophy list that have 0% completetion.
While that is pretty neat, I would like to request this feature to be expanded so that we can delete/hide any game from the list, no matter the completetion percentage.
I have a whole bunch of 5% and 2% games that I don’t really want to have cluttering my list.
I know that the trophy percentages are useful feedback to developers everywhere, but i would like to at leat be able to HIDE the games I don’t want to have on my list, if it isn’t possible for you guys to allow me to delete them as I see fit.

The current GUI for the PS4 puts all my games and apps in a horizontal list…. It looks kinda cool, but it’s kind of a mess. You semi fixed it with the “Library”, but I have to scroll through 15 apps/games before I find it.
For a future GUI makeover, I hope you let us make folders for games like on the PS3.

I hope the Network Media Playing capablilities as of that on PS3 and XBox360 will soon be available…
I would like to see a feature on ps4 that allows us to login multiple profiles to play 4 player cod type games like Xbox 360 so that my friends can come over and we can all 4 play at the same time which they can download there psn user account to play at my house or be able to download there psn profile to a usb card and bring it with them so that when they come over to play there stats go to there psn user id instead of just being able to just have one come on Sony we want the features by hat yall promised bad enough we have to have a paywall to play psn step it up
In post 87 you said the removal of 0% Trophies is currently a PS4 only feature, are there any plans to add the ability to remove PS3 Trophy Lists at 0%?
I have 3 of these from when my housemate loaded the wrong profile i’d like to delete at some stage.
Also, regarding Trophies, why aren’t trophy list’s merged if the same game (and trophy list) is on PS3 and re-released on PS4. If i buy a cross-play game they’re merged so why is it any different for games that have been re-released with the same trophies e.g. GTA V or The Last of Us. In the case of GTA V the trophies from the online component carried over anyway, having to do all the collectables and story mode again was rather tedious.

The reason it says “nearly all” is because something like Destiny currently logs you out if you suspend it to go into certain areas of Settings, and will continue to do so even after this update. I assume other always-online games probably act similarly, like FF14, Warframe and Loadout.
Looking forward to getting that Suspend/Resume feature. Hopefully the trophy sorting options will bring them more in line with what we already have on the Vita. And I’ll be sure to delete DCUO from my trophy list, finally.

* It would be nice to upload full resolution screen captures (.png) to a variety of different websites, such as Flickr.
* We’d also like the option to quickly capture and upload the last 10 seconds of video, and convert these ‘quick captures’ to animated gifs, to share on forums and discussion boards.
If you don’t consider these features, the competition surely will.

Now from the PlaystationLifestyle I thought we will have the ability to RESET our trophies from games we did and not REMOVE them. We need that ability too.
The thing I want most is connection support, I want to be able to plug in a external hard drive or my phone and view or use them…..
The update look awesome and can’t wait for to be release. Now if you guys could have massive update of the Playstation app for iOS, that would be great. Would be nice to have media player controls for Netflix, Hulu, and the Blue-Ray player.

I don’t understand why such a basic feature such as when you delete a game, demo,alphas or betas from the console it doesn’t stay in your library, is not in place. It makes the library so cluttered having game icons from games that you have deleted that you have no intention on playing again and even less sense to have the library cluttered with alphas/betas that have ended and are totally useless.
Still no media server. I still have to use my PS3 for its media server capabilities. Disappointing that it had taken Sony so long and still no media server. Don’t even bring up Plex, it’s garbage.

It’s been mentioned on here at least once, but avatar purchases and/or a larger selection on PS4 and Vita would be nice. I own both but because I don’t own a PS3, I can’t use the avatars I purchased through Sony Rewards (even though it specifically said it was for “Vita” on the Sony Rewards listing…)
As far as what kind of avatars, it would be nice if some games had unlockable avatars but completing certain trophies, similar to what I had on “the other console” before I made the switch. That might be asking too much though.
I’d be willing to pay for a decent one, but will not be getting a PS3 just to change it. If I can do it through web, Vita, or PS4, that would be grrrrrrreat.
Being able to delete games with 0% is definitely a huge, HUGE plus. But there’s still a few games that I have sitting extremely low, one of which is at 10% and is completely unplayable since the servers were taken offline a few years ago. I’d love to be able to delete that one, too.

For people asking about video chat. microsoft said they really wouldnt have a problem bringing it to ps3 ps4 and other consoles. But we know how that goes right. From the press conference in jan. ooVoo is actually in developing an app for video chat. I think its projected to come out within the next couple months or so. Not entirely sure, but it is expected to come out this year

PS4 is an amazing console, to reach perfection we need just 5 little things.
– Custom wallpapers: like our own photos or desktop wallpapers, I love to have only a black screen with my games on it.
– Folders: I have a 2TB internal HDD on my PS4 and 50 games installed, imagine with folders by genre? Would be AWESOME
– Friends notification: we already have when your friend joins a party, but how awesome would be to know when they get online!
– External HDD for games, this is a mandatory update, this year I know for sure that I will overload my 2TB internal HDD, having an external support would be amazing, cause I hate to delete my games and when I want to play it again, I have to redownload it.
– DLNA: this is an awesome feature for those who doesn’t own a TV with USB

– Will trophy hide extend to expansions/DLC at 0%? For example if I got 100% on a game but have no intention of purchasing a DLC, can I hide the DLC from that games trophy count, as to not be ‘penalized’ for not having the DLC?
Also a big deal that may go unnoticed is the accessibility button mapping – in addition to accessibility for some users, this could effectively allow any game to have a custom button mapping if you’re willing to put in a bit of work to map it. Maybe the ability to save button profiles for quick loading of presets would help this and be huge!

A feature that would be really cool for a future update is that when you go in the dynamic menu without closing an application, instead of seeing a square with the app logo, you see what is going on in your running application in a rectangle with reduced sound. That would improve the multitask experience !
Four features PS4 should have:
1. Video Conferencing – Wouldn’t this help drive sales for the PlayStation 4 Camera? This is essential, especially since PS3 already has this feature… We can do all this “next-gen” stuff but we can’t have multiple people video chatting in the same party?
2. PSN ID Change – This is a feature I think a lot of people would even be wiling to pay a small fee for… I’ve heard Shuhei Yoshida say this is something you are aware of, please make it happen.
3. Folders – We should be able to organize our friends, games, apps, etc. into nice and neat folders. I really hope someone this working on this particular feature.
4. Opt out of “Players You May Know” – I have my friends list private for a reason. I would appreciate if PSN stopping revealing my friends through his handy little feature. If you have your friends list private then it should not suggest your friends to your other friends. Please fix this invasion of privacy.
Can I just say how big a deal it is to be able to change button configs! I have one arm so can’t really use the l1 or l2 buttons while moving the left stick. This is a big problem when trying to aim in shooters. If this allows for the triggers to be changed with regular buttons it will be incredible!

Huge visually impaired gamer, excited about text to speech!! My question is, will it be only for ps4 menus, or app and games as well.
I would like to be able to sort my Game Library by titles i have downloaded on my system. I try and play in as many Betas as i can, but after they are over i’m stuck with their icons and names forever in my library section. Let me remove them permanently so I can browse through all of my titles easier.

Please let us remove other Trophy Lists too, which we don´t wan´t to keep even if we got some trophies. I would love to burn some trophies down just to have my list a little more sorted out.
Think about players which tried the PS+ Trials which didn´t buy the game afterwards. I didn´t try any after I found out after the first that it installs the Trophies list and is not a simple Demo.
Because of that reason I didn´t even give a lot of IGC games a try. But they´re in my dowload list :-) Please enhance that option.
