PS Plus: Free Games for March 2015

Another collection of excellent games joins PlayStation Plus this month, and you’ve come to the right place for details!

Starting things off on PS4 is Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee — New ‘n’ Tasty! This side-scrolling adventure reboots the PlayStation classic with new visuals, new sound, enhanced controls, and even more dark humor than before. Also coming to the PS4 lineup is Valiant Hearts: The Great War. This colorful puzzle game carries with it a heavy subject matter, as it follows four intersecting lives (and a loyal canine companion) during the first World War.

On PS3, gamers with PS Plus can download the critically-acclaimed Papo & Yo, alongside the wit-inducing Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments. And on PS Vita, watch out for OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood and CounterSpy.

These games will be available for Plus members when PlayStation Store updates later today.

  • Papo & Yo not showing as free, it was earlier but still had a $9.99 price in my cart, now it is not saying free at all???

  • All thoses game for march are gutter trash

  • Nice month. Thank you. Oddworld, Sherlock, Valiant Hearts and Counter Spy all look worth checking out. I played Oddworld back in the day, and I’ll gladly check it out again.

  • Papo & Yo is no longer showing up as being free.

It had been listed as free with the PS+ banner over its icon, but reverted to being 9.99 before I could complete my “purchase”. I removed it from my cart, refreshed the page, logged out—all that stuff—and it’s still showing as being 9.99.

  • I just stopped by to hand out pacifiers to all the cry babies who didn’t get their free AAA game this month. The IGC has always been like a roulette table, you get what you get. I admit I have never been a fan of the indies but it is what it is. Indies seem to be the way of the current future. Complaining isn’t going to change anything! Maybe instead of sitting around crying foul all day, download a few of these games and you might find yourself having a little bit of fun free of charge. I used to complain and get bent out of shape over what was offered but having played a few freebies here and there I found sometimes there is fun to be had in Indies. Just have fun and Game On people…!

  • PS+ is quickly becoming a service that only applies to Hipsters…. Please please please give us some AAA titles for PS4. We spent extra dollars to get it, plus are “forced” to buy PS+ how about rewarding us now?

  • Its a good game line up but ps3 was going to get dishonered but the deal fell through so they gave ps3 papo &yo instead.

Sony didn’t want playstation plus subs to find out thats why they haven’t made any comment about why the announcement was late.

I know I don’t have a plus sign over my avitar I let my plus expire 4 weeks ago because of sony lack of communicatin with its paying customer’s.

Where is drive club ps plus addition?

  • not in the list Papo & Yo on psn +

  • Well…..Guess my plus is strictly for multiplayer this month. Yay! #sarcasm

  • Papo & Yo for the ps3 its not free its says i have to pay 9.99 USD :(

  • @300 None of these games are worth playing. That’s the problem. At least Transisitor and Rogue Legacy were decent last month for PS4. This month is complete garbage from top to bottom, not a single decent game here.

  • First Sony knocks us down to only 2 games per system when PS4 comes out…Then if that wasn’t bad enough, almost the entire time since then it’s been nothing but month after month of stupid lousy dumb Indie crap!! The only people that want this utter CRAP are Indie freaks and people that are easily entertained. We are freaking gamers PAYING for your stupid service, Sony. Give us REAL FREAKING GAMES!!!!

  • Oh man Valiant Hearts! Thank you. I meant to purchase it when it was on sale last time, but missed the opperunity. Now here it is, free for PS Plus =)

  • Can’t wait to sit and play Abe again, the Oddworld series is one of my favorites! Thanks Sony

  • @#304 (Greg412CjzMan)
You CAN NOT tell me you have finished all the previous Instant Game Collection titles (unless you’re strictly PS4). The subscription allows you to keep playing those games too.

  • Not seeing Papa and Yo for PS3 yet… is there still some PS Store updating to be done?

  • awesome update! w00t

  • Wow, most impressive titles up for grabs this month. Kudos to those running the show behind the scenes!

  • I think i’m just going get an Xbox cause this is just getting ridiculous. If you want to impress somebody, try putting God Of War, Resident Evil, Metal Gear, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Kingdom Hearts, heck monopoly is better than this garbage. -5 out of 5 rating this month

  • RedMoonSharingan

CounterSpy I picked up a while back while it was on sale for half off ($7.50, I think) and I still haven’t gotten around to playing that. Papo & Yo, picked that up back when it was part of the $1 sale, so offering it on PS+ is something of an insult. Granted, that sale was almost a year ago in May or April, and not as recent as the sale that I got CounterSpy on just last December.

That being said, I actually just finished the PS3 version of Valiant Hearts a night or two ago, so I won’t mind double dipping for the PS4 version. And Sherlock Holmes on PS3 is one that I definitely have interest in, so it kind of balances out for me, I suppose.

  • Very pleased, thank you~.

  • These games aren’t really of any interest to me. I was hoping for something more epic in terms of quality of games. Guess I’ll have to wait until April.

  • Weak… Never liked Abe anything and already had Valiant hearts, and I will admit thats a decent game.. But Abe?? ABE!! while Xbox gets Rayman.. Dissapointed. Prob download and delete for HD space since we only have 500 GB which was a bad move…Hope next month we can get something good

  • Well I’m happy about OlliOlli2. I almost bought the first one but wasn’t sure it was worth, what, $3.50? I guess Sherlock Holmes might be cool to play with the Mrs. Weren’t most of these games just in big PSN sales? That’s… kinda not cool…

Can I say that I loved Yakuza 4? I’m actually angry that I haven’t been playing those games since the PS2. I made sure to tweet to Sega to tell them how much I loved Yakuza 4. I’ve been looking for a used copy of Yakuza 3 with no luck. Not sure Dead Souls is for me… You’d better believe I’ll be snagging Yakuza 5 the day you put that out. Considering I already have VF2 on my PS3, I’m unreasonably excited to play it inside Yakuza 5. You’ve made a new fan. THANKS! Would love to see the Yakuza 1+2 remakes come to NA, as well as the coming PS4 prequel. I can assure you I’ll buy more in that series.

I played a pre-release version of Apotheon a few months back and it dropped right off my radar. It might have been some sort of 2 player battle arena that I saw… What I’ve played of it so far is gorgeous and entertaining, and I’m very happy with it.

  • Great update. Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is an excellent game. Anyway to get the PS4 version free as well via Cross Buy?

  • ……..

Valiant Hearts is great, but of course I paid for it during the holiday sales. The rest are pure ‘shovelware’ for me personally. Waste of time waiting for this announcement.

  • Oh come on, where are the AAA titles we used to get through PS+? These past couple of months have been underwhelming.

  • Kinda sad how Valiant Hearts is available on PS3 as well yet only the PS4 version is for free. Why do only certain games allow cross-buy while others don’t?

  • Valiant Hearts: The Great War exists for ps3 too, So, it will be avaliable for ps3 too?

  • @323

Because it’s up to the publisher to dictate whether or not a title is cross-buy.

Valiant Hearts is a Ubisoft title. It was Ubisoft’s call that it not be cross-buy.

Sherlock Holmes was published by Focus Home Interactive. It was their call that it not be cross-buy.

  • I didn’t buy a PS4 to play awful games like these. I think I won’t renew my plus subscription.

  • Papo & Yo is still listed as $9.99

  • Absolutely pathetic for ps3. Really? Is this what we can expect from now on? One decent month then three months of pathetic games? I knew delaying the announcement the games were going to be horrible for last gen. SMH!

  • I don’t see Papa & Yo as free here

  • Papo & Yo still shows up as $9.99 for me :\

  • Kinda late to submit March but decent games this month, Nothing great but I got my monies worth.

  • Ok now I see it’s free.

  • Papo and Yo was removed while I was trying to buy it. It’s back to 10 bucks now. Shortest PSN+ addition ever.

  • Can’t wait to lay them!

  • Sorry this lineup is complete and total trash. When I saw Thief on PSN for free I was ecstatic, now I feel like I am getting cheapy indie games because you guys don’t really care now that you have your money. No wonder people play PC. PC doesn’t have third party servers that get hacked/ddos’d monthly. Steam and Origin have better deals than PSN, if I had a good computer I’d ditch sony as soon as possible. I could care less about Indie Platform games. They sit on your dashboard and once you want to free up space on your HD it’s the first to go. Come on sony, PS4 has been out for a year, quit with the Indie bullcrap.

  • Wow! Great month! Especially awesome to get OlliOlli 2, but it’s all great!

  • AMAZING Line-up! I pretty much wanted to try every game on here but haven’t heard of Papo & Yo….it looks interesting though! I even wanted to pick up Sherlock Holmes on PS4, I might just give the ps3 one a try and then pick up the later version.

    Thanks Sid and Company!

  • What the hell is this…. In December you had injustice , January it was First Light…. February it was some rubbish indie games, and after all the wait, we get MORE indie games?!? What am I paying for???? Way to kick your fans in the teeth, and you expect to run in competition with Xbox? At least they offer triple A titles! Disgusting!!!!

  • You need to get back to giving out great PS3 games again. There’s so many games that haven’t been given out but it seems like because you can’t give away big PS4 games the PS3 is being hurt too. There’s a lot of old PS3 games that are still worth it.

  • Oh well at least I will be saving hard drive space. That is the ONLY positive about this months lineup

  • Nice variety. I have a PS3 and Vita and all four games for those systems look like something I’d actually want to play. I just wish Sony would do a better job at communicating. Someone should have just posted that the announcement of the Plus games was going to be slightly delayed instead of pretending they couldn’t hear the chorus of questions. People get more angry over the lack of communication than they do over the delays.

  • @327 OddWorld is an AAA game. People payed good money for that on the psx and now we get it for free with better graphics.

Reading some of these comments makes me sick that we are all lumped into the same label “gamer” People don’t realize how good they have it getting multiple free tittles to play on multiple platforms a month.

  • Thank you Sid!
I think People have a hard time remembering that you guys are hard at work! and that you do your best to bring the titles to the IGC in a timely matter. I think what they forget most of all as that we are all human and not modern technology.

  • @styx sorry I personally value quality over some crap indie titles

  • Another slap in the face to ps4 users. I;m done with this, going to cancel my subscription and use 14 day trials to play online. And what pisses me more is ps3 urers keep getting games like sherlock Holmes and Thief while ps4 users get NES games.

    Screw this
