The PlayStation Now subscription service launched on PS4 last month with more than 100 games, and we’re just getting started. We’ll add games to the service each month, ranging from big blockbuster hits, unique indie games, and everything in between.
Perhaps you had a PS3 but missed some of these games, or maybe you never owned a PS3 at all — either way, our PlayStation Now subscription service offers an easy and convenient way to catch up on your backlog. Of course, you can choose from two subscription plans — monthly for $19.99, or a three-month package for $44.99 (about $15 per month).
This month you’ll find 5 additional games spanning a range of genres. All of these games will be added to the PlayStation Now subscription library on February 3rd, bringing the total of games you can play with your membership to 109. Also, make sure to check out the weekly PlayStation Store Update post to see the new games available to rent on PlayStation Now.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Fortune hunter Nathan Drake returns in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, a pulse-pounding, third-person adventure created by award-winning developer Naughty Dog. Down on his luck, Drake is lured back into the treacherous world of thieves and mercenary treasure-seekers he had sought to leave behind.
When a mysterious artifact propels Drake on an expedition to find the legendary Himalayan valley of Shambhala, he finds himself embroiled in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse against a fugitive war criminal who’s after more than just the fabled riches of the lost city.
God of War II HD
Kratos, the once mortal warrior turned ruthless god, sits atop his throne on Olympus as a threat far worse than his predecessor Ares had ever been, striking down anyone who crosses his path or the path of his beloved Sparta.
The “Ghost of Sparta” sets out to alter that which no mortal or god has ever changed. His fate.
Red Faction: Armageddon
Mars is drowning in chaos. A separatist faction of Marauders intent on wiping out the Martian colonists has destroyed the terraformers and sparked a decade-long war that has rendered the planet’s surface uninhabitable.
Forced to rebuild their society underground, the colonists cling to whatever hope for survival they can find.
Galaga Legions DX
The legendary hit arcade shooter returns with Galaga Legions DX! Featuring a new twist on the classic gameplay, slick new graphics and devastating weapon power-ups, the fate of the galaxy lies in your hands!
Board your fighter and prepare to defend Earth from wave after wave of relentless aliens. Target your enemies’ critical weak spots to earn bonuses and rack-up an astronomical score. Blast your way through unique levels and epic boss battles on your mission to defend the galaxy and prevent an intergalactic catastrophe.
Arcana Heart 3
In Arcana Heart 3, chaos is erupting in Japan. Planar rifts are appearing in various locations around the country and it is suspected that the Drexler Institute, a player in the Great War many years ago and creator of the Divine Celestial Weapon, is involved.
There is a rumor circulating that if one gets their hands on a celestial stone from a rift, their wishes will be granted. Their power draws many young women to search for them, either to seal them away or in hopes that the rumors are true. Each has their own reasons for the hunt, and they won’t allow anyone stand in their way… enemy or friend alike.
I have a question. Will there ever be a “buy it now’ option vs a subscription? For instance, being able to pay $10 for Uncharted and that lets me stream it whenever I want without a subscription.
A subscription would still be well worth the money if there were a lot of games you wanted to play. For me, I had a PS3 since at launch and played the games I wanted to. A subscription isn’t going to have the same value for me. However, I wouldn’t mind being able to make single purchases for my favorites like Uncharted and Infamous in case I ever want to revisit them on my PS4.
Okay. I tried PlayStation Now during a 7 day trial. Nice try Sony but the service is rubbish! I have 60mbps download speed and my connection passed your test. I played games starting with old school fighting games to playing A puzzle game. The service lagged so badly. Your servers NEED WORK! if you want this to be successful. The PlayStation4 is perfect! PlayStation network is wonderful when it works. I love the PlayStation android application! Fix PlayStation now and I’ll reconsider subscribing.
I don’t get it….if you can access PS PLUS subscription for the VITA by signing up for a PS4 subscription, then what are we waiting for when they say “PS VITA access is coming!”. From the comments above, it seems like a Cross Buy from the start????
I really hope they will one day make all of the Persona games available on PlayStation Now! I know they are available fore Vita/PS3 but those of us who love the Persona games that only have a PS4 are out of luck : (. But hey, maybe when they release Persona 5 we can get some of the other Persona masterpieces released?
To everyone who keeps complaining that they can’t play the games they already purchased for free. I own hundreds of movies that are on netflix, but they don’t let me stream them for free. Why should Sony? It’s a business. If you want to play PS3 games on PS4 you’ll subscribe to PSNow. If not keep your PS3. Backwards compatibility was never promised when you purchased a PS4 so why are you crying now?
So is this different than PS+? I’d love to have Uncharted 2 on my PS4, but I’m already paying for PS+. I’m not going to throw another $15 a month at a subscription service…
So happy to play all these games agian! I subscribed day 1 and will continue to do so if we keep getting great games!
Please, PLEASE release an Uncharted collection.
I already beat all three games on ps3 numerous times but I just want to own them forever dammit! I love the games and I don’t want to have to constantly rent them and play with input lag every time I get the urge to play a few chapters! (and in fact I wouldn’t, I’ll rather just suffer never playing them again)
Plus there are tons of people who have not had a chance to play the Uncharted games, a collection would be far preferable for catching up on the series before the fourth installment. PSNow is a great service, but for a cinematic game like Uncharted input lag can really kill the experience.
I know ND is busy with UC4, so pass off the collection to another studio (possibly the studio that made Golden Abyss).
Release the collection for $60. 20$ a pop. I would buy it in an instant, and I know mass amounts of other gamers would too. Hell, even the Reddit thread for this blog post has tons of people wishing for an Uncharted collection. Come on Sony. This is by far the most requested remaster collection. Uncharted is THE defining ps3 franchise and one of the most iconic playstation franchises. It only makes sense.
Please sony.
Please :(
I don’t know why so many people are complaining about the price…
To be honest, $45 for 3 months is pretty great, especially considering a new game usually costs me $60. That’s over 100 games for less than the price of one.
The one downside is that there’s a slight latency while using PS Now. However, I was able to play Bioshock Infinite and it wasn’t THAT bad. I assume it will get better over time, which will make this even more of a bargain.
Thank you Playstation. I think PS Now is great, and I can’t wait for it to improve over time.
Make it available for other regions…
Thank you.
when will ps now have a one year subscription offer and when will ps1 and ps2 games be added?
Seems like a lot of you could benefit from taking a look at this:
playstation.com/en-us/explore/psnow/faq/
On the positive side (and I wasn’t aware of this myself):
“Do users need to be a PS Plus subscriber to enjoy PS3 online multiplayer titles via PS Now on their PS4 systems?
No. Users do not have to be a PS Plus member to enjoy PS3 online multiplayer titles on any PS Now compatible device.”
So if you don’t care about MP for current-gen games (or any other benefits of Plus), you can have only PS Now and still play those games online.
On the negative side:
1. It’s not listed in the FAQ, but PS Now generally does *not* support DLC even if you’ve already purchased it via the PSN digital store. PS Now has no connection with your purchase history/download list whatsoever, hence why you can’t stream games you already own. If a game on PS Now isn’t a GOTY or otherwise specifically mention having DLC included, you can’t access the DLC for that title at all via PS Now.
2. Lag. There’s no reason other than blind faith in Sony to believe this will ever improve, and the MP experience especially would be crippled by it.
Only 5 games added this month. Thats pathetic. I really want to use this service, but needs a ton more content than that added every month. For that price, I need to be overwhelmed with options, lime netflix. Also I need to be able to play the hundreds of games I paid for and downloaded on ps3. This service is not even close to a good enough value. And I have spent thousands on playstation.
5 games a month aint going to cut it
MORTAL KOMBAT: KOMPLETE EDITION, before X comes out please :)
I would be all over this puppy of it was $10 a month. It’s current pricing plan is a complete rip-off. PS Now seems to be an amazing service, but SONY had to go ahead and shoot themselves in the foot with this ridiculous pricing plan. Think of all the subscriptions you lost by doing this. There’s no doubt in my mind that the amount of subscribers would be triple what it is now if you charged less.
so when does the new lineup come out for PlayStation Plus
@expresident – Just to clarify you can still party chat while using the service. My brother and I both was streaming a game and in party chat. All you have to do is hold PS button, goto home screen option, set up your party options and click back on the game.
@Miahotboy – it was posted thursday or friday on here. PS store is updated every Tuesday. Should be today around 2-5 pm PT. Sometimes earlier sometimes later. Q was vague so I answered all of it haha.
@Eckbo – 109 total games after this update added, plenty of variety of games. Probably 20-25 im interested in playing I never gotten around to. Id say not paying 100s, not having to wait on DLs would be well worth it. Unless they have absolutely little or nothing of your interest in now, then I can see why its not valuable to you. But count the total retail of all these games on PS3, minus the time wasted to DL and you have unlimited access for 3 months. Sounds pretty good.
My concern is also the lags, playback quality, and losing connection constantly. I have a strong connection so its kind of a buzzkill.
eh…still too pricey
I actually havent had many lag or connection problems at all, surprisingly. Sometimes just need to turn off your wifi on phone, tablet or whatever
This service is amazing in my opinion, I guess that it does seem a little expensive but it’s a godsend to me as I’m currently living in North America for a year (originally from the UK) and my only gaming device is a PS Vita (paired with a very decent internet connection) at our current place. I hardly want to shell out the money for a games console at this point when I don’t necessarily know when I’ll be moving on.
It will be great to see an expanding library and a subscription option for the Vita in the near future. I was curious to know how often we can expect games to be added to the rental library though? I know I read somewhere that it’s supposed to be on a weekly basis but that doesn’t seem to be the case. There are certain games that I would love the chance to play again and even more so on the Vita, I won’t get into that here though because I don’t want to be the guy who’s asking the “When is this game going to be added” or “PLEASE ADD THIS…” questions.
But well played on this one, SONY.
is there a way to request games for the service? i really want to play the MGS HD collection again.
On Vita Please
The new games are not showing up on my subscription list??????
also I want the MSG collection as well…..
Someone anyone, anyone Bueller, Bueller… Where are the new games, they are not showing up…..
I think this question was answered already but I just what to be clear. If I have the subscription for PS Now through my PS4, can I play on a bravia over at my moms house if it has the PS Now app? I ask because I tried to log in to PS Now on the TV but there was a network error. Its connected via ethernet and I checked to make sure it actually had an internet connection which it did. Also I tried to sync a dualshock3 to the TV through the on screen instructions but that didn’t work either. I have high hope for the service and think it has huge potential but if my subscription only works for the PS4 and can’t be use on other devices then I might as well get my money back
Yes! If you have the PS Now subscription through your PS4, you can play your subscription games by finding them on your PS Now enabled Bravia.
Just don’t forget to spend some time with your mom in-between game sessions!
