The PlanetSide 2 Closed Beta for PS4 is starting this month — January 20th, to be exact! The development team has been hard at work refining, optimizing, and creating an amazing console version of PlanetSide 2 on PS4, and we can’t wait to get it into your hands.
We’ll be using this beta period to test our servers, performance, and various other aspects of the game, and we also want you to share constructive feedback on PlanetSide 2. How does the game look and feel? Is navigating through the menus intuitive and utilizing DualShock 4 in the best way? All players in the Closed Beta will have access to our special Beta forums, which will be the primary location for development interaction and feedback. We want the massive battles to make your heart pound and adrenaline pump, so share your thoughts with us.
If you haven’t done so already, make sure you opt in by email for a chance to participate in the Closed Beta. You can sign up through our website. To ensure the most positive gameplay experience, we will invite a few thousand players into the Beta at the beginning, followed by waves of players throughout the Closed Beta period. Please note players will be invited in chronological order of when they signed up.

I read here that the first round of invites will be on the 20th. Will there be more than one round of invites? Also do you know when the full version will come out to PS4 if i don’t get picked for the Beta? Really love the game and I might see YOU on the battlefield!
Heck yeah! I’ve been waiting for this for a while. I am super excited. I have it on the PC, but am looking forward to playing it with friends on my Playstation. One question though. I know our profiles stay on the PC, but what if we used Station Cash? Do we have to by separate SC on the PS4 Edition. It’s not a problem if we do, I just wanted to know.
when are beta emails expected to go out? ive been waiting for this since beta sign ups… actually even before sign ups opened i was checking out the site continually readin the sign ups start soon notice hahahaha

all beta have multiple rounds of invites… this is actually probably the second round being that the 1st round is often for the dev team and select few testers… the 2nd is usually invite only by means of signing up (such as this beta) the 3rd is usually the ome where we who are invited get to invite a few friends (mainly a final stress test) if all goes good in the 3rd phase the game will launch shortly after as planned. if not it hopefully gets pushed back and another round of stress tests will begin… there are rare cases when everything goes so well that the 3rd round is cut out and finishing touches are added then the big waiting game begins until launch.

As a PC closed beta tester, let me translate this for you.
We’ll be using this beta period as a free trial, and to test what level of nickel and dimeing you’ll put up with. We also want you to think we listen to constructive feedback on Planetside 2. How does the game look and feel? Is that floating rock you reported 4 months ago still there? Good. Screw you. All players in the closed beta will have access to our special beta forum, which will be the primary placebo for you to throw bug reports and videos into a bottomless pit never to be seen again. We want massive grind to make your heart pound and adrenaline pump from the crushing regret of spending 5 times more than Planetside 1 costed, but having less to show for it.
One of my favourite experiences on the PC. Extremely excited for the PS4 version! PC’s are just expensive to manage these days :( Many hours ready to be sunk! Good luck guys!
Out of all the games I have ever played, even on the console. Planet side 2 is by far the best game in my opinion. I cant wait for it to come out for the ps4. I seriously hope i get to test this out before the actual release date <3

If i may ask, is there anyone that know if planetside 2 names are synced with the pc version? Because i really want to name my self something but its already taken on pc. will i have to use a different name or is names seperated? maybe our psn ids are used by default? i really love to know.
Here’s to hoping that I’ll be logging major hours into this game soon. I just want to know exactly when the first wave of emails will go out. Like, did I already miss them or are they being sent on the 20th?

Probably. I did mine in late-November or early-December and I haven’t gotten one yet…
Here it is the 20th, and I have yet to see an email invite,or let alone hear of ANYONE getting one.
20th on Jan – No PS2 Updates, When will we have the EUROPEAN VERSION OF THE BETA, Why are we being treated like second-class citizens – I find this totally RUDE and RACIALIST and WHERE IS THE U.S Version of the BETA? Seems like all those which signed up from the beginning have no Email Updates whatsoever, or any form of BETA Key.

Its like they’re deliberately not making any announcements hoping we totally forget we were supposed to get Beta Keys and forget PS2 on PS4 as a whole..
The lack of information coming from them has seriously lowed not only my expectations but excitement for the game overall.
Eh, I won’t be disappointed that there was no information until the day is over.
They won’t be releasing beta codes until the game is up for download in the Playstation store which updates at 2 pm CST time. If beta codes aren’t out then, then my guess would be it is being delayed again.
So you guys stayed up all night waiting for a beta key? while sony is sleeping waiting for their big day to release key’s. I’m sure sony is busy trying to get everything in order, so shut up and WAIT!

I sincerely doubt that they would delay it after an actual set release date, especially on the date it was supposed to be released. I’m just surprised they didn’t give the keys out a day or two ago so we could start playing directly on the 20th without everyone having to download it at once.
I just found out about this game. 2 days ago and it look’s great I have been doing my research on it. It look’s awesome if I get a beta invite I can’t wait to play! Keep up the good work good luck!

The Beta is only valid in the United State at this time. Since it is a focused Closed Beta we didn’t open it to all regions. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your support though and we look forward to seeing you in the game when it launches in your region.
@ Gaberdude We were to be Updated also about the EUROPEAN BETA Release date, this hasn’t happened along with ANY FORM OF UPDATE even for those in the U.S. Futhermore for the people which state it’s early for them to issue the BETA on PSN i’d like to remind you that many games were released at midnight = over 9 hours ago.
Sure there was no information when it would as in what time (if it will be released today) due to the fact that there is a total lack of information! Zero – Nothing at all. No BETA Keys appear to have been sent out, i’ve alot of U.S friends which have been signing up for info and the BETA since 2013! None of them have EVER recieved any form of information or any updates whatsoever.
Great PR SOE, i’d seriously be considering hiring someone else to do the job. Most people don’t even know what PS2 is? Let alone that this is a F2P AAA title coming to the PS4.

1.Most BETA Keys are issued 1 week or at least 2-3 days before a BETA, in some cases you get a BETA key months before the BETA is even ready. So Why does it appear that NOBODY has recieved a BETA Key?
2.What is the Official European BETA Release Date?
3.Why is there a lack of Information? No Updates, No News, No informative Emails Sent ?

“It was a very small initial batch of keys, mostly to people we know and have close contact with, this is done so we can iron out any connection problems external people might have when they try to update and connect. We will have larger batches of keys going out tomorrow (assuming nothing show-stopping happens over night – seems like it’s always worth making that caveat!). We’re as anxious to get more people in as you guys are, trust me. We’ve been waiting for years for this too.”
They don’t sound too confident with their product, at that rate of beta code issues, we might get access in 2025!
