The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

For a DDoS attack the only compensation should be the days of PS+ everyone missed which for me was 3.

I found the “temporarily” solution on facebook 2 days before ask PlayStation offered it kindly. As I said: Ask PlayStation was NOT helpful.
Slaves? I pay Sony, if they are not paying their employees and holding them as “slaves” I am the wrong person to make responsible.
And there are other people who have to work overnight and on weekends and holidays, including me. But people can choose their jobs. So if the PlayStation network should be offline on New years eve, of course they have to work!

I’m glad that the network is back up. My problem is I bought a DC dlc right around the time the hack happened and now even tho it shows that its been purchased its no where to be found and I can’t get ahold of support to fix it. I either want a refund or I want the dlc I purchased.
Dirkozoid please learn to read they have offered more then one solution and are getting more details from users right now how are having the problem. and live was down as well, you cannot prevent a DDoS attack and it happened at a large scale there is not much you can do except wait till the attacker gets bored and done, and mitigate the traffic of false data as much as you can. Non of that is sony’s fault. Instead of yelling at sony you should be mad at the ones who actually did the attack. If lizard squad got your skype username somehow and started ddosing you is that your fault? NO its not DDoSing is an Internet issue not a sony issue.
I have been back on the psn on ps4 with 1500 MTU since 8 pm est. I was able to download the update file for Call of Duty:advanced warfare and play multiplayer team death match.
It took 5 days, but PSN is finally properly fixed. I can now log in without having to change my MTU.
They offered a lot of bs! And what worked for most of people, changing MTU settings was first denied as not “proper”.
Ask PlayStation was NOT helpful for me and many others.

This is crazy I still can’t get on bc of this damn error NW-31194-8 and ice done everything it asked me to do on support n nothing works. I have 100% connection u all need to fix this I have kids that want to play and it is pissing me off I paid 400 for a system and 50 to play online and can’t you tell me what’s wrong with that
I still can’t sign in. I want to sign up and make a brand new account starting from scratch but it gives me error code nw 31247-7. Someone please help me. When I do test internet conncetion it says that obtaining Ip is succeful but internet conncection has failed. I put everything right and still get this error code PLEASE HELP.

Ok so I got a PS4 for Christmas and all. So i recived a free game well I did every step and I go to my library and its saying I have to buy the game while it is saying I have to pay $49.79 when it should be free.. can anyone help? Thanks

At this point I’m through. Tried all the MTU bs, restarted everything, tired to get some official support from Sony but nothing. Maybe I’ll wait a few weeks or so when Sony will actually answer my CALL!

Looks like they finally fixed it enough that more people are getting online at least.
I’m hoping that they throw us a bone and give us an encore week tomorrow (NA PSN’s update day) of the flash sale and all the holiday sales from this month and maybe a discounted PSN.
Or at least start give people back any lost days of PS+ due to PSN outages lasting a full day or more.

This goes For Microsoft as well. We’re spending money for better servers, and better security, and it’s compromised by a bunch of kids!?
Now coming into my 7th day of no PSN. I have tried calling, no one answers, emailing is down. I get directed to forums which have nothing that is of any help. What I would like to know is this really going to be sorted out or do I now bin my PS4 as at present it’s only use is now a very expensive paperweight! I have tried to be patient and understanding, but at a cost of over £300 for the machine plus games costs and my PSN + cost I am very unhappy with the service provided and now with a weeks loss I’m out of pocket.
I wish to also make the statement that Microsoft has all it’s systems back up and running, I’m still unsure why Sony does not. If I have no joy I will send the PS4 back with all the extras for a full refund, as you appear to have failed to keep to your end of the terms and conditions.

have done both MTU changes completely reset my ps4 reset my internet nothing is changing I was able to get one game of destiny in then I turned it off went back on and now nothing loads. Surprisingly I can get a successful test connection but now I get an IP fragmentation error because the mtu isn’t what it should be, lizard squad is no longer even attacking yet tons are still having issues I don’t understand why this is taking so long and why I’m still having issues even after doing everything Sony has told us gamers to do if we are having issues im in California in case anyone is wondering I want answers
I can get online now but the servers are acting up when i play Call of Duty and GTA. Im so pissed off after all the BS that has happen the past week, i am not renewing my plus membership when it expires. **** You Sony!
Been having an extremely low success rate with PSN and I haven’t even attempted to play anything online. Managed to get on early enough to purchase Danganronpa 2 while it was still on sale. Would love to purchase Freedom Wars and Tales of Hearts R as well, but I can’t even connect long enough to do that, let along get the free DLC.
I’m not going to get angry about it. No point really. The entire way this was handled though, it’s just disappointing. I absolutely agree that two replies here over sixty pages of comments, concerns, and issues is unacceptable. Even if DDoS isn’t something that you can just go “THROW MORE SECURITY AT UR SYSTEMS”, which a lot of people can’t seem to grasp, a higher level of communication with your customers would be appreciated.
SONY- gives us reply/information about the date. 7th day without PSN and playing online and you have no time to write one comment per day with information “THIS IS FOR THE PLAYERS” and we are, but can’t play. I have to check few times every day because have no answer from you SONY.
Just wanted to update my fellow gamers and let you guys know that I switched my system to the Xbox one and the network works perfect. Playstation network don’t know how to fix the problem they are having or they would have fixed it. Xbl had the same hack but somehow, someway they handle the problem. It goes to show that psn and/or sony cant figure it out, or it would had been fixed. I can no longer trust psn because now I’ve read in an article that also our information was also compromised, including debit/credit card numbers, etc. Although I’m not sure if it’s true or not it worries me still. I hope that Sony sort things out but they had loss me as a customer. Good luck.

Welp, I managed to get the two games I mentioned by purchasing it via PC, downloading it to my PS3, and copying them from that to my Vita. Kind of makes sense that the priority in service restoration would go to PS3 and PS4 over Vita, but still a bit disappointing.
An option to keep in mind for anybody else in my situation who has multiple Sony systems.

Well, if you believe the blog, it is online. However, that doesn’t mean everyone can connect.
As can be seen, some people can connect, others can’t.
I can still not logging to psn.I can’t play plex, netflix, online games.
Just want to play online…. :'(
In the last few days, my mother and I have cleaned out a room packed to the ceiling and full of junk…
So I CAN say thanks for the network being down, otherwise this would never have happened.

I’m sorry, but… That is what I’m seeing at this point.
Sony isn’t worried that we might leave. Two other companies could be considered as real competition for the console market, and really only one is truly competing.
Sony often lets us down when stuff happens-then the fans of the competition laugh at us.
Sony gives at least some customers the run around, and even hangs up in the middle of support calls. Obviously I’m not the only one that this has happened to. Maybe we are unlucky, maybe the people with good experiences are just lucky.
Sony does make people cry. Kids that wanted to play on their new Vita? Good luck. On their new PS4? Hope you bought physical games.
Obviously people have already said goodbye to Sony. Maybe not many, but some.
And of course, they have lied or at least given out misleading information. (Take the PSN being online when many if not most people couldn’t connect. Many if not most of the people that could had to use tricks to do so. And that is just one example.)

I’ve been a fan of Sony products for a long time. As someone who prides themselves in loyalty, it takes a lot to break my loyalty to something.
I’m still somewhat a fan of Sony, but… I just can’t (No, I don’t mean won’t) go and get people Sony products just to play with me anymore. And I can’t honestly recommend Sony over their competition anymore.
I’m hoping something will change, but I doubt it. I bought a ps3 for Linux… That function was removed with an update… That was probably the starting point of despair. A rather expensive device (when it first came out) suddenly just became pointless to have except as a backup ps3 in case my first one broke.
I wish it was up and running, still cant log into PSN using PS4. , Kids still use the system as it was bought for.
