The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

Seriously? 2895 comments and only 2 replies? You people should be ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. You do realize we pay for PS+, right? We bought an expensive console that pretty much relies on PSN and it still doesn’t work, while Xbox users are happily playing online as we speak. What about the people that JUST bought your console this christmas? Do you people even care?

News Flash…. Was at my local GAMESTOP and was informed that rumors are going around that the Lizards are going to strike again to shut down XBOX LIVE and PSN PLUS to keep gamers offline until the first of the year…. I did check on trade in value off my PS4, but it was around $275.00 US dollars…. Guess I’m just going to keep it and hope like hell that SONY will get things fixed and have a better protection from cyber terrorist, rumor has it that the Lizards fried the main frames of SONY, and almost did the same to MICROSOFT main frames, but who knows what the real truth is???? Lets hope that this is just a rumor and nothing happens, cause either way you go XBOX ONE or SONY PS4 might be paper weights across the world if they keep screwing with both companies….
The only thing that is not a rumor in this post is the trade in value for the PS4…

Wow! This has got to be the largest thread I have seen on the Blog. 2911 and counting. Let’s hope PS get’s this straightened out.
To everyone whining about how xbox was able to quickly get their servers up while playstation took a little longer, bear in mind that xbox has half the users that playstation does. To all those threatening to switch to xbox live, please do! That way Sony won’t take so long to fix the problems because there won’t be as much traffic. When Microsoft ends up eventually taking longer to get online in these situations due to everyone jumping ship from Sony, guess who will want to come crawling back……… the very ones who left in the first place. Quit your crap and let people do their jobs.

If everybody who is threatening really switches to Xbox there won’t be a “crawling back” because Sony is totally broke then. What will happen anyway, but much earlier, because PlayStation is the only branch which still brings money. Our money, but we even aren’t worthy more than 2 responses on the first page to them.

Get the freaking network working in Alberta, Canada for PS4. This is out of control… I can’t activate my new system always a connection lost. Can’t update apps so I can’t use them, Who plays single player/offline games anymore, needs to be fixed.

@2933 don’t worry DDoSing isn’t a security breach. DDoSing works the way the internet works, it follows the rolls of the road, only thing is that its fake heavy data traffic clogging up the front door. The constant outages might keep happenign (if Lizard squad truly stopped) if LS keeps doing these clog up attacks. The thing is they keep getting worse and worse and are even starting to take down xbox live. That being said you can not prevent a DDoS attack.
Sony did hire Prolexic a company that combats against DDoSing, but even the scale of the attack was too much for them (especially if xbox live was shut down for hours the scale of the attack was probably huge enough to shut down other companies) Hopefully Sony will give users the days of ps+ lost. All you can really do is mitigate and filter out the heavy data and hope that the DDoS attacker stops attacking. The reason XBOX live was able to recover faster was because they have tons and tons of servers to mitigate that heavy traffic flow of false data. That being said if lizard squad continues to improve their botnet volume and make there attacks bigger then adding servers and increasing the infrastructure is going to be pointless.

Ok, your opinion is the fact. I understand. Sony informs its customers very well as you can see in the happy commments made here. Everything is fine.
The sad thing is that Sony is ruining itself and people like you can’t buy so much games and TVs and phones to help Sony to survive. But I don’t care so much anymore. I am just upset because I wahres to play in my holidays.

@2940 they have given a lot of ways to try and fix login into PSN, that’s not copy and pasting, they have been posting all day on their twitter. That’s not silent. If that’s silent and copy and pasting to you then you can’t handle the truth.
got a question tried downloading one of the four games in the bundle pack i put in the code tht worked but the second code the give u it workd but it said something wrong with server so i hit it again then it said the code u entered is invalid or already been used so now wht do i do
They repeated the same tweets over and over again, even when people responded that this doesn’t work.
And the truth is that many paying customers did not know what was going on and are upset now. And as mentioned before only in english. The german PlayStation websites didn’t offer any information before today. So handle it!

@2944 they have posted multiple solutions which shows me that they are trying to get your login issues solved. If they are repeating it its because thats the main solution at moment that they have. You want them to work overnight shifts as well and keep them up as slaves too? You want them to work during New Years as well?
They will give us a little compensation, but first there has to be an outrage in the community to make Sony react :(
