As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

So why can I sign in and play on my ps3 and not my ps4?
The code worked perfectly fine for me last night to get signed in, psn was working good for me all day today too untill i got off at 2pm now when i try to get back on its down yet again? Wth is going on now?

Yea, I still cannot access the PSN from PS4….I have been patient for the past four days. I was able play online for like an hour yesterday. Now I cannot get on today …WTF PlayStation !!??
Tried the fix and it hasn’t worked but ill keep trying. Just think it’s a complete joke that users are trying to fix it rather then bloody sony. So so so unfair.

i live in Willingboro NJ, and my family live up North NJ. So my PSN is not coming up for my PS4 but my family up North NJ PSN is up. Why my PSN is down but in different areas it isn’t ?
And I keep telling to all my friends that Microsucks is lame and everything.

now DDoS… that I understand that is not under your control, but how come MS has been up for two days now no problem, but SONY still can’t fix their servers…
Always been a PS fanboy… I’ll remember today in 10 years, when new consoles are out.
On a side note… I’ve had the console for 2 months now and I am now at my 3rd controller…. the two firsts gave up on me for the same problem… L2 trigger getting lose and not aligned so it get stuck… until one of the spring breaks and L2 doesnt reset position… what a piece of cheap garbage seriously
Five days and counting now….tried fixes from other posts all I got was friends list. Still unable to connect to game servers. At this very moment 1600hrs MST can’t connect at all.
my psn came back on today for a few hours now it has gone off again i am really pissed off coz it was my xmas present and can’t use it can somebody please fix the problems asap

Xbox live is working fine but psn is still down or people. You need to hurry up and fix this!

I rang PS4 TECHINCAL support number in the UK and 9am this morning to be informed that the office was shut and opening hours were from 10.30am. I rang back at 10.30am to be greeted by a dead dialling tone, the phone service was not working, I tried in vain and eventually got connected sometime later to then be told my call would be answered in around 15mins… a full 30 minutes later and still no Advisor to deal with my call and issues….this lead my to hang up and end the call
Lizard Squad said “they did what they did to Expose the weakness within the infrastructures of both Sony and Microsoft” and with the Evidence on how Sony have again handled this situation I would say Lizard Squad have succeeded 100%. WE may might like or agree with what they carried out but it makes you think about what we should expect from a multi billion pound organization such as Sony…………………….

So surprising you say you have corrected and fixed the network yet I have tried multiple times in the last few hours and still can’t get on PSN.
I purchased a game called Destiny 4 days ago and still can’t play it because it needs PSN. How will Sony compensate me?

Still connection problems? I can understand when it was free to play but now that Sony is taking $50/yr for me to play online is a little ridiculous. Sony’s competitor was up and running the next day (if I’m not mistaken). Should have kept my PS3 so I can still play for free then I wouldn’t be complaining.

Psn is down again. I pay good money to be able to play online and it’s now 3 or 4 times its been down since I had my ps4. I would really like a refund on my playstation plus as I’m always being let down if I have no reply to this I’m taking this further as it’s a joke now. xbox don’t seem to have any problems I’m unhappy with this service.

TRY THIS PEOPLE IF YOUR HAVING TROUBLE GETTING ON PSN.WORKED FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE. READ
1. Go to settings.
2. Go to Network.
3. Set up Internet Connection.
4. Choose wifi or LAN, whatever you use.
5. Choose CUSTOM.
6. IP Address – Automatic
7. DCHP – Do Not Specify
8. DNS – Automatic
9. MTU Settings – MANUAL
10. It will be set to 1500 BY DEFAULT. Click that, change it to 1473. Press R2.
11. Click Next.
12. Proxy – Do Not Use
Done!
I made an error when making the manual change to the MTU size that caused me to not access the PSN Network.
After reviewing and finding my mistake and changing the MTU to 1473 I was FINALLY able to access teh PSN Network.
Thanks again for the above info to get me in to Play Destiny with no issues and was also able to redeem all coupons.

Unbelievable that Sony is this incompetent. Despite you guys saying PSN was online, mine still hasn’t worked since it went down 5 days ago… and yes I’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps. I try calling you guys and the calls don’t go through because the line is busy, I try live chatting you guys but it says it’s unavailable even though it’s clearly in the time that you’re supposed to be open. There is absolutely no way to get a hold of you lazy people. Words cannot describe how disappointed I am that a company is this incapable of getting a problem resolved. Really wishing I never switched from Xbox, and I’m probably going back to them due to a lack of providing good customer service on your part. In a perfect world I would hope that every single PSN customer would switch to Xbox and drive your stupid, unprofessional, and substandard company into the dirt where you monkeys belong.

It is now Dec 29th and I am still not able to connect to PSN from my NEW PS4 Destiny bundle since Dec 24th. I have spent over $400 for what is to date a large paper weight. My son who was so excited at first is totally discouraged now. This is utter nonsense. I had a chat with a support person today and he tells me that it is my ISP and some issue with packet fragmentation (MTU). What the heck, everything else on my network runs just fine. This guy did not even give me a chance for any reply and closed the chat after his response.
I would think a company as large as Sony/Playstation could have this done quickly. I do not even want to hear comparisons with Xbox which a PS phone support person did with me on the 26th. Xbox was up the next day. I could care less about Xbox, I do not own one, I own, now, a PS 4. Which is the first time I bought a system other than Nintendo. hmmm

Down again! i really hope PSN can clean up their act and add better security filters considering this is the 4th time in a month of having to deal with this issue. I expect some sort of compensation for this inconvenience and seeing as sony has bankrolled this past year on the ps4 system and ps plus accounts then this is professionally unacceptable. We paid for the Plus service for the month of december and we could only use the service for half the month!!!!

I just got my ps4 yesterday and can not play online or do anything other than local gaming since I have had it. It has been a pretty bad experience and I am worried I made a wrong decision investing in a ps4. What is the deal? Am I ever going to be able to play games online like my NBA2k15?
