UPDATE: PlayStation Network is back online. As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

PS3 is on line but ps4 servers are still down? the only thing to do is get your game fix on PS3 till fixed, *****ing about it dose nothing. Sony hooked everyone up last time I’m sure they will do the same again…

I’ve been trying to get back on PSN with my PS4 for the last 2 days and had no luck.
Now it’s saying I’m not a plus member. Not true. Fix it please.
I think this is discusting iv always been a ps1 2 3 and now 4 person I got my kids a load of gaming stuff for christmas including wwe 2k15 and they can not even play the game itself some times iv rebooted it formated it lost a lot of dater iv worked had to get just to b waiting I think we should have some sort of compensation for this I live in the UK and have bin offline since the 24th December 2014 and it’s now 22.18 ant night on the 29th December and can not get onto my psn just getting can not connect to the server

I think this is still a DDoS attack because I was able to log on and play Inquisition online later last night, after most of you went to bed, which takes the pressure off the servers. I’ll try again later today and see, and then very late tonight.
I would say that those of you who are on East Coast time are out of luck, since that would be the highest volume time if you normally play daytime to just before bedtime. I played PS4 online until 1 am Pacific time with no problems. That would be 4 am east coast.

All that money spent for the PS4 + a bunch of games (physical discs but also as codes) but now not able to neither download bought games from the PS store or play the online games as the PSN is sill down and no clear info from SONY. not so impressed.

I still cannot log in even with the1473 or 1450 mtu. That method worked last night. But not today!!
I have been without since Dec 24th everyone I play with seems to be gaming just fine when I try to sign on I get the same error I have been getting. Try to call support they cant even pick the phone up to help people this is getting frustrating and ridiculous pay 60 dollars to play online and cant even play lol… My question to you why do some get fixed and some don’t feel like I wasted my money and I feel like I should have WENT WITH MICROSOFT AND PURCHASED A XBOX ONE THANK YOU FOR NOT TAKING CARE OF ALL OF YOUR CUSTOMERS….

Ok, I understand that your resolving issues with ps4 users, but it has been 5 days since I could play online and it’s simply frustrating.
The best part of this outage was trying to get in touch with customer support to report an unauthorized purchase on my account, explaining my situation, and then having them ask me stupid questions which didn’t resolve my dilemma:
-Where did you make this purchase? I didn’t that’s the ****ING problem.
-What does _____ say when you look at your purchase history? I already told you; I can’t access that because YOUR NETWORK IS DOWN!
-Can you please contact customer support via telephone in twenty minutes? I could, but of course THEY WOULDN’T BE OPEN at 0700 Pacific.
And of course when I ask if the reason their network is down was due to YET ANOTHER hacking incident, so that I can notify my bank and protect myself accordingly, they give me some bull**** “We cannot comment as to whether or not an incident has taken place.” THE HELL YOU CAN’T!
Off again. PATHETIC. I have xbox and psn and the service isn’t even comparable yet the price is the same. Raise your game Sony, excellent console let down by useless network and support. No won’t the xbone is being seen as a realistic alternative at last; it’s not the mavhine, IT’S THE NETWORK.

I really wanted to add funds over the weekend , but you kept the PSN site offline from all transactions , I did get Akiba’s Trip Vita though, but I had to get PSN cards to do it , oh did I mention I had to trek 18 miles on a bike to the nearest electronic store > ? Got home and you finally restored the PSN site , thanks for being timely and inconveniencing everyone.

Really… PSN is back up? Then why am I still having problems connecting? I<ve only been able to get on for a few hours since the night of Christmas eve. Remind me why we pay for this **** service? Hell even the message system has been a mess since day 1, why can I drive to my friends house 30 minutes away before he gets the message I sent him? What a bloody joke.
I still have trouble logging in. It takes a long time to log in but then there’s no connection to psn anyways. Fails on Internet test. It actually passed once, but then failed in the follow up attempts. Even logging in to this website, first time it told me the connection to the server has been lost, then on second attempt spun for about 30 seconds before finally logging in.
Ps. This is ridiculous. I thought the attack stopped same day or next day after Christmas….

Why is psn down again?
I currently still can not connect to PSN on my PS4. It worked last night but now I think it’s offline. Waiting to see if the service status updates.

Still down…unbelievable. 5 days now…really! All I get are errors and instructions to restart my router and PS4. This absolutely sucks. When will the torture end? I am going to but an XBOX One if this goes on for one more day…UGH!

Well psn servers are down again, im really sick of this ****, you’d think years ago when you got hit offline for 2 weeks you would of fixed this, now you are down again in a matter of days, im either going to xbox or pc now, good bye lying sony
Worked well yesterday, had much fun playing Destiny. Tried again today and it’s down once more. Hope you prosecute these brats to the fullest extant.

I haven’t even seen them comment on the MTU temp fix issue..
FYI anyone STILL having problems connecting to PSN go to network settings, setup internet connection, select yours, leave everything as automatic/default EXCEPT MTU settings. Change MTU from default 1500 to 1473. This seems to be universally working for most people.
I think you really need to sort this problem out because you will loose so many customers and I think you should give people something free because u have all that money and can’t even stop people hacking PSN it’s a joke better sort it soon as !!!
finally decided to try the MTU fix route and it worked for around 5hrs, its just lost connection with new error codes… tried again with both 173 and 1450 MTU and guess what will not connect at all now and a new error code…..
REMEBER when the PSN was attacked some 2 years ago in the PS3 days it was down for around 3 months I have a strong feeling this latest incident is going to be of similar length!!
How can Sony announce the PSN was restored and back online last Saturday when there is clear evidence this is not the case

I had purchased certain additions from the playstation storer and now today that i was finally able to play I had noticed that they were gone. WTF
I also had call of duty running with a change mtu. I took a nap and woke up and even that doesnt work. I know im crying I have always had sony and just earlier this month I said I think im going to get a ps4 and xbox one. I decided no but I guess i will be picking xbox one up in 2 weeks. sigh. STILL KEEPING MY SYSTEM BECAUSE I LOVE SONY WITH ALL THEIR FAULTS LOL.
