UPDATE: PlayStation Network is back online. As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

Games I bought when I was able to get on are locked and say I no longer own them… Hope the network is better soon.

So i think the dns/mtu fix just helps ps4. My ps3 is still screwed. Shoulda got a ps4 or really guess i should have defected to Microsoft. Then i could listen to music while i play too and watch tv and all that other crap.

I still can not get online on my ps4 and everyone is saying that they can.
One thing i dont get as well is how they have the streaming apps dependant on the psn. What the hell? Really? I dont even pay you for it but i cant use it because YOUR network is flawed? Looks like no Fairy Tale for me.
People I know keep telling me that they read articles online that say PSN is back online. So again, I try to log on and fail to connect. Why would they release articles claiming the issues are fixed when they’re not? Does the majority of PSN users have serviceand because most do they consider it “fixed”?

Funny how I can connect with ps3 and vita but not with either of our two ps4s. The ps4 online playband perks etc require paid plus subscription while ps3 and vita don’t
I have not been able to do anything since this whole thing started. I still can’t do anything. It is like I am wasting the online games that I bought for the PS4 instead of the xbox.

I picked up my PS 4 console on 12/19/2014, and I’ve been trying to download the Four Games One Pick to no avail…what’s going to happen about this digital download? everytime I try to download the site says down for maintenance.

@swissmer It was a DDOS attack, the hackers didn’t get any information they just plugged up the network with other traffic. It is more of a greifing hack than a actual theft. Your information is safe i promise.

5. Choose CUSTOM.
6. IP Address – Automatic

9. MTU Settings – MANUAL
10. It will be set to 1500 BY DEFAULT. Click that, change it to 1473. Or 1450 Press R2.
11. Click Next.
12. Proxy – Do Not Use

I went back today trying to return the PS4 and the only reason I didn’t do it is because they run out I was trying to get the Xbox1
Everyone, its a traffic problem. There is a massive influx of traffic right now on the Playstation Network servers, and some could still be from the DDOS attack (which is an attack where they flood a server with millions of requests per second causing the servers to get shut down). Just have patients, its gonna be a few days before things start calming down.
Still, I can’t login. I’m so frustrated and disappointed.

You guys honestly deserved to get DDos’d lizard quad warned you and you did nothing to prevent it and if you cannot even prevent a simple DDos attack then you really shouldnt be up and running. I pay you $50 a year to play online and I expect your servers to not shut down. If you saw XBL being attacked what made you think you were not next and why did you not prepare for it? Honestly sony needs to hire people who went to jail for hacking to prevent such attacks because the people you hire to prevent attacks have obviously no skills. It is just like when 4chan took down the PSN for months and cost you billions because you tried to destroy a mans life for rooting his console that he bought and paid for.
