As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. This may have prevented your access to the network and its services over the last few days.

The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

I was with XBL for over 5 years. After going back to my “roots”, the branded systems I grew up with, I am feeling quite regretful. The lack of Sony’s expedition on this matter is more than terrible; it is horrendous. I’ve never dealt with such disappointment when I was giving Microsoft my money. It seems Sony is creating an unprecedented reputation for their lack of efforts and maintenance especially within a reasonable amount of time. You guys profit by billions and have one of the worst security systems in the world. These are high school kids hacking your less than mediocre infrastructures… I shouldn’t have to say more. If I have to go another 24hrs without online service, I am forever boycotting all Sony products. In fact, if that does happen, Sony will lose another 10 customers along with just me. Once you can understand how that vicious chain works, I think Sony will think twice next time before not properly funding and maintaining their consumer services.

The PSN has been turning on and off all day for me (mostly off) and honestly, I am almost siding with the DDoS’ers in saying… your server security needs a major update. this is inexcusable.

If my internet goes down Telstra will credit me for the days it is unavailable. When SEN goes down i get rubbish email replies about “maintenance”. SEN was attacked, not under maintenance. Good job I say. Remember the little guys you faceless jerks.

i still cant redeem the four games one pick voucher code. you guys “say psn is back up”, then why cant i redeem for free game is was offered???? u have until tomorow before 3 pm(lol) or else in returning my ps4 and going to xbox one and aleast xbox live is up and running. Man I know your team is working hard to fix a problem the started since dec 23 today is dec 28 almosh a whole week with no service…I hope u guys also work hard on giving us a discount for PS plus…
I have a ps4,and ps3.since the 24th went offline, it’s now been 4 whole days since it’s the 28th now.So really it’s not fixed, still can’t login. Fix it already.
I still can not access anything to do with PSN no games, no store, nothing that needs me to be signed in
I know sony is saying to reboot the system but i tried this and it didn’t work for me, but something else did work!
This is for the PS4 console online
Go into your internet settings (it should be under network in the PS4 settings)
Set up a new internet connection
Select custom
Set everything to automatic EXCEPT MTU
Set MTU to 1473 or 1475 (1475 worked for me but not 1473)
Save your settings and try to connect again.

is it normal that in mexico city, PS4 still cant contect to PSN ? its december 28th at 9:47 pm, and my PS4 cant conect to the servers, and its wear, because my PS3 its actually working fine, I’m downloading a game right now.
also, one of my games (Metro Redux), is not saving my progress in game, and is taking an eternity to load, could it be for the same reason? or do I need to check the disc ?

This fixed my connection problem. I couldn’t connect to PSN even though everyone else could so i figured why not try what some people were saying worked. By jesus it worked! So go ahead and give it a shot and keep your fingers crossed. Good luck gaming my friends! Here are the directions i used:
Boot up your PlayStation 4.
Go to “settings.”
Go to “network.”
Select “custom.”
In this menu, leave everything as default except MTU.
Change MTU settings to “1473.”
Save your changes.
Reboot your PS4.
Don’t forget to breathe a sigh of relief.

I really hope the last holiday week and flash sale discounts get extended.
Not all of PlayStation Network is up and running. This last post by Sony is operating normally is misleading. I received a new PS4 for the holidays and I am trying to redeem a game from my bundle and it is still showing that the network is down for maintenance. This is the same message that has appeared since the network went down. When can the users expect to see this resolved?
Today is the 28, dec and still offline :( I understand yall are doing everything in your will to get all customers back online just sucks stupid hackers God gotta screw everything uP

Just got home and I find myself still unable to connect. Did it come online and then go back offline? Considering how often this terrible service has gone down in the last few months I wouldn’t really be surprised.
