As you probably know, PlayStation Network and some other gaming services were attacked over the holidays with artificially high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. The video game industry has been experiencing high levels of traffic designed to disrupt connectivity and online gameplay. Multiple networks, including PSN, have been affected over the last 48 hours. PSN engineers are working hard to restore full network access and online gameplay as quickly as possible.
From time to time there may be disruptions in service due to surges in traffic, but our engineers will be working to restore service as quickly as possible.
If you received a PlayStation console over the holidays and have been unable to log onto the network, know that this problem is temporary and is not caused by your game console. We’ll continue to keep you posted on Twitter at @AskPlayStation and we’ll update this post once the problems subside.

For those of you having trouble logging in… try this
– go to network setup and re-setup your network settings but his time go the custom route and when it gets the the MTU setting. set it as 1470 (default was 1500 for me).
I did this after reading a comment left elswhere and it has worked for me in the UK. had no problems since…yet….. touch wood.

And that is why digital download codes are very, very stupid. Because if any of a great many possible things go wrong, you can’t use it or access the game you paid for. Even better, according to their ToS, Sony can revoke your access to digital games at any time they choose, for any reason they like.
Well, times like this are a good opportunity to do other things besides gaming. Everyone needs a break sometime.

Am I the only one still having problems with psn? Half of my friends list is online and playing and I’m sitting here twirling my thumbs. My system says I’m logged in. Testing connection fails my log in. I can access store. I can see my friends list. I cannot however play any games online

Today I signed in in safe mode and got system update 2.03 but now when I try to sign in to psn it says error (NW-31194-8) I looked at all the suggested actions and completed them and it still won’t work. How do I fix this? Someone please respond!

No DDOS protection is infallible. And on Christmas Day when traffic is at it’s highest, it’s at it’s most vulnerable.

I switched to digital because I had about 10000+ USD worth of games stolen. Luckily, a few of my games were stored in a separate location. I also lost movies, manga, and more.
I used to buy 3-5 copies of each game I liked, such as Atelier Rorona, Mana Khemia, etc., but only 3 copies of Mana Khemia managed to get saved since I had moved them before the theft occurred.

Been trying to get online on PS4 the whole day and nothing.Tried my Vita and its working fine…can’t say anything about my PS3 since it corrupted the HDD a couple of days ago…but damn Sony step up your game,staying without PSN and right on Christmas that’s unbearable.
Anyway I really don’t know what’s up with it cuz I can see my friends playing PS4 normally but I can’t sign-in on it.Its a shame for real.
Oh well guess I gotta be patient,Happy Holidays y’all and hope everyone can play fine.

You say that you have restored the network but I have been trying all day to get on and haven’t connected yet. Are you going lengthen our Playstation plus accounts since we have not been able to use it?

Some people have tried that and still hasn’t worked for them. Some people might even try 1400 MTU.
Whether or not it will help though really depends. It may help some, but it might not help others.
One way or another, Sony shouldn’t be saying that it is online until it is working for everyone. It just causes people to get more upset.

I am still having issues with my playstation network on my computer. While it is working on my playstation, I am unable use free game voucher because it won’t allow me to redeem it on my playstation. Is there anything I can do to fix that and redeem my voucher?
