The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 10/28/2014
The Drop

Goblins, ghouls, ghosts, and gremlins fill the streets. Candy flows like a river of sugar. People willingly terrify themselves. Halloween is creeping around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a shambling host of new games coming to PlayStation?

First up, Freedom Wars, coming to PS Vita. In the not-too-distant future, humans are born into incarceration. Fight for your freedom and wield insane weapons against hulking monsters. Team up with other players online, customize your character, and select a city to represent in your fight against imprisonment.

Not spooky enough for you? Not a problem. Costume Quest 2 hits PS4 and PS3 this week. This adorable RPG sequel has tricks and treats in abundance, with new environments to explore and even a Sackboy costume to use!

And if you’re just feeling a little overwhelmed by all this Halloween horror, belt out a few of your favorite tunes in SingStar, which launches this week on PS4. And you don’t even need a mic, actually. Just download the free SingStar companion app and turn your smart device into a glorious conduit of performance art. Or embarrassing karaoke. Either way.

  • Hopefully Freedom Wars makes a strong first impression on both Vita and PSTV this week.

Since both Sword Art Online: Lost Song and God Eater 2: Rage Burst were announced for Asia in 2015 this weekend (the first in both English and Traditional Chinese, the latter in Chinese only so far), I’m hopeful that one, of not both, of those games might build up enough mementum to encourage Bamco to bring them to the West also.

(The producer of SAO:LS explicitly noted that the main reason why that game is getting a PS3 version is to make it easier to aim at the West – though if we do get it here, I hope they bring both the PS3 and Vita versions over.)

Here’s hoping for more good news localization-wise for the Vita/PSTV in 2015!

  • Where’s the nba live 15 demo that’s suppose to release on the ps4?

  • First off, I have to commend Unfinished Swan for adding CrossBuy to past purchasers.
Freedom Wars looks exceptional and probably would have been a Day 1 purchase if it had english voice options.

But going to hold out since I had to pick up the Tales series last week, and Castlevania Dracula X looked too good to pass up after watching a gameplay video on Vita.

Siren is seriously tempting, and Abyss looked like it needed to be lower.

*Not too happy with no Costume Quest sale, and Corpse Party prices.*

  • Hey Ryan, any chance you can start tagging Vita titles with PS TV if the games also work on Playstation TV?

And to that end, will Freedom Wars run on PS TV?

  • Oh man!! Freedom Wars is SO close by, I can practically smell it. Can’t wait for it,

  • And for everyone asking, Freedom Wars is DEFINITELY compatible with PlayStation TV.

  • Singstar! Finally!

  • Costume Quest 2, Freedom Wars, Home, and The Unfinished Swan this week.

I’m interested in Lords of the Fallen but I want to wait for reviews, and Danger of the Ooze sounds interesting but I’ve been burned pretty hard on the last couple Turtles games I bought so I’m gonna need to see some more details before taking the plunge.

  • I wouldn’t listen to all the Freedom Wars hype.
If its one of the few games left for Vita that aren’t 3rd party, no reason to suport it.

Let most of these renters/traders, talk about how great their trade in options are instead.
Most people here play online rarely, and are afraid to accept friend invites to prove it.

  • Wow Freedom Wars… Unfortunately I cannot buy it right now :/

but definitely gonna buy it sometime soon

  • @djsaiyan: Right there with you on Lords of the Fallen. Really hope it is a solid game, but waiting for the reviews before dropping the cash for it.

  • Does anyone know if the 15$ back promotion extends to purchases made on the 28th after the store updates? I purchased Bloodborne putting me at 70$ and was hoping that Freedom Wars would put me over the 100$ mark! The only problem is the promotion goes until the 28th, i wasn’t sure if that meant till end of day 28th or when the store updates.

  • I like the overall format of these posts a lot. One thing that could be improved is the alignment of the pictures for the games. The WWE picture is way above the description at the end.

  • Man can’t wait to get my ps4!

  • Will table packs 27 and 28 for The Pinball Arcade, PS4 version be available for purchase on October 28th?

  • @57 What are you talking about?

  • Can we transfer songs from previous Singstar games to the new PS4 version?

  • SINGSTAR!!! Will my PS3 singstar purchases carry over to the PS4? Also will the videos be updated to HD?

  • @60
One of the most annoying overlooked comments I have seen ignored EVERY SALE.
I know if I wanted your money or treated my customers like people, it would have been answered.

My guess is its posted somewhere, they never reply the info to, or they hope you spend more worried you miss $15.

  • Freedom Wars for me this week, the hype is too real. Can’t wait for this!

  • Of course I have doubts you meant to misspell generic.

  • If the hyoe is so real, any of you actually buying it digital, throw me a friend invite.
Maybe with enough invites, you’ll talk me into it.

  • will lego batman 3 go up for pre order on the playstation store this week

  • So many good games, i wish iknow the prices.

  • EA said twas going to have an NBA Live 15 demo for PS4 out Tuesday. I do want to check that out. Hope it shows up.

  • @60
Not like I work for Sony Media, or want your money, but the info doesn’t specfically say.
Although it does about when the credit is good untill, 11:59 PT.

So my guess is anything on the 28th untill that time.
But as Sony always says that details are subject to change, you never know.

  • I really want to play Freedom Wars but first I need to get another vita memory card to download it… So not sure when i’ll be able to get it.

  • But no gta San Andreas 10 year anniversary. The only game that actually matters in a long time is microsoft’s. oh and sunset overdrive. but at least sony has costume quest 2, #genericzombiegame, and buggy nba live, right.

  • I’ll be looking forward to Freedom Wars. Love my Vita.

My PS4 is back again at Fort Wayne getting fixed. The warranty service keeps sending me BROKEN REFURB UNITS. This last one made it a month and 3 days. This will be my fifth PS4 since launch. I feel so lucky I could puke.

  • @34
I also do remeber the reply in the Freedom Wars blog, that they always have something big cooking (which I would think would be implied towards Vita, it being a Vita game).
And I am kind of close to the $100 mark for the special promotion, and can see buying it at full price to recieve the $15 credit back promotion.

Blast you Sony, I have never spent this much before.

  • receive, sorry.

  • Getting Freedom Wars for sure. I can’t wait for that game it is going to be so good.

  • man im so excited about freedom wars
hope it renews my passion for games
sony if it does thank you
    cant wait for it

  • also hope it comes at 12:00 2night

  • “But no gta San Andreas 10 year anniversary. The only game that actually matters in a long time is microsoft’s.”

Whoa. I just bought it on my 360, so I’m excited too, but if a slightly repolished decade-old game is the only game that matters, we’re in trouble.

  • FREEDOM WARS!!!!!! For the Greater Good, BEYOND!

  • It was confirmed in a previous blog post that if you bought Freedom Wars on Tuesday it would count towards the $100. I would only assume that applies to any other purchases on Tuesday as well.

  • Great drop but I am a little (a lot actually) disappointed to see One Upon Light missing from the drop. I hope it makes it’s way to the North American Market soon!

  • Ryan, a couple of questions. Will the tracks I downloaded for the PS3 Singstar transfer over? Can I use my ps2 and/or PS3 singstar discs in the ps4 version?

  • Lots of COOL stuff :P But again the lack of any PS4 demos makes me sad :( + I thought the PS4 Gen we could stream demos to, to the PS4 but no sign of that which would of been mega-cool. Oh well.

  • I’m so hype for freedom wars, that I went as far as to asked my boss to have Tuesday off. unfortunately it’s not gonna happen, but I do get to leave early :) vita x freedom wars= epic

  • Cant wait to play freedom wars on my new ps tv

  • *SWOON* somebody catch me!
    It’s not even November yet…

  • Whoo! I’m excited to finally try The Unfinished Swam! Never got around to that gem on PS3. Home looks interesting too. I’m usually not a fan of horror, but having it in 2D makes it seem less scary. Also…Beyond! And 2.0 Update HYPE!

  • Oooh, a few of those really interest me. Can’t wait!
PS4 update and Freedom Wars, Lords, Costume Quest 2, Battle Island I don’t know what to get first!

  • Wow, I don’t even know where to start… so many titles that intrigue me this week.

  • @Rezolution – OMG you are such a negative nancy. Would you please shut up. Enough already. Nobody cares

  • Anyway hope that turtles game is good. Probably will try MX vs ATV too

  • Nah.
    Is that all you got?
    My own self quote?

Sad ……..No PsPlus boy. And what was negative, other than the obvious.
Lack of sales on old PS digital games? Or the users comments I replied to?
