This sale really does suck. There are titles here that don’t really fit the theme (whatever) and several glaring omissions of games that might have been included. But overall, a pretty worthless sale.
I admit… I was REALLY hoping that South Park was going to be a Halloween game this year. Too bad to see that it isn’t but Dante’s Inferno would be fun to return to and PvZ:GW seems like a must.

I brought it here with hopes of a response from Sony. They neglected to respond. Which leads me to believe they worded this page poorly.

I have tried to be extremely patient in dealing with the representatives when I call about PvZ Garden Warfare error CE-34632-8 on PS4 (which has been talked about above and on http://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/2jws8f/sale_of_the_dead_on_playstation_store_starts_today/. I went through all the steps (restore licenses, rebuild database, delete, redownload (3x), etc.) and nothing.
The non-maintenance outages, DriveClub PS+ Edition (which, granted, is not totally Sony’s fault), and now this problem, have really made a bad impression on me about the PS+ service. I’m not leaving it or anything, but I can’t help but feel like it’s just not living up to what it should be. Representatives should not respond to my problem with “Well, you know it’s Tuesday, right?” as if it being a maintenance day should mean that things that they push to consumers’ systems shouldn’t work. If you’re running maintenance on a section, I shouldn’t be allowed to even access it. This raises considerable doubt over whether the PvZ thing has anything to do with maintenance.
Anyway, I’m a frustrated consumer, and I don’t normally get worked up over these things.
Sony please fix this. I want play the game I bought. PvZ Gardênia Warfare for PS4!!!!

I am still trying to wrap my head around as to why is digital copy is more expensive than the physical copy. In the late 1990s, digital media promoted the idea that digital media will reduce the prices for the buyer because there will be no middle man.
no packaging – no plastic casing, no plastic sleave insert, no paper or ink used for the cover. And the cost of the people and materials that design and create the packaging.
No Shipping and handling – no use of packaging boxes, no packing fillers, no paying a guy to drive a truck or a boat to their destination.
No storage – no fees from the stores to hold the product, not paying someone to recieve and stock it on the shelves and selling it to the buyer.
So a retail $60 game should not be a $60 digital for the same game. Who is really pocketing this extra money? Diffently not the buyer.
Purchased PvZ:GW last night. Game downloaded, updated and fully installed but won’t play. Error code CE-34632-8. I tried deleting and reinstalling aswell as restoring licenses to no avail. PSN doesn’t even recognize that I purchased it and asks me to buy it still.
I contacted Sony support and they said the are aware of the issue and it is due to a PSN update they were working on and to give it a few hours. OK, so I wait. The next day (today) I try again and nothing. I go to the support page and it says support is only available from 1:00am-1:01am on Wednesdays… O_o
Snagged Demon’s Souls and Fatal Frame III. Good prices on both. Been wanting those for a while. I’d advise against purchasing Fatal Frame I and II during this sale however. Get them on Amazon for $4 each. You’re welcome.
@jibjab79: The best explanation I’ve ever read for why digital is often more expensive (or even just as expensive) despite all those things you list…came from AizawaYuuichi. He’s since moved on to browner pastures, but here’s what he had to say back then:
Basically, he pointed out that it’s not so much digital being more expensive. It’s more that there are good business reasons for retail to be less expensive. Because of all the things you listed, retail games take up space on store shelves. Retail stores constantly have to update their stock with new games. So they have to move older ones out the door to make room. That’s why retail games can often be found at drastically reduced prices even shortly after being released.
Digital media has no such downward pressure on price. With no actual space being taken up, there’s no financial reason why a company would sell digital games for less simply because they’re old or because newer games are being released.
Now, that’s not a very satisfying explanation. It doesn’t make us feel better about paying more for digital. But it does explain, in part, why things are the way they are.
I was wondering if yall could bring back the Borderlands 2 Sale for the DLCS. I just missed it last time by about 2 hours.
I would also expect Defiance to drop their Season Pass from 40 dollars to 20 dollars that is more reasonable considering all the problems with the game. I think the DLCS should be free because for High EGO Levels Trion Nerfed all the Guns to encourange more Teamplay so the only Guns that aren’t are like the Arkbreaker or Bloodhound/Crimefighter kits. It’s a real shame how they like force us to buy the DLCS Like I have a Bloodhound SMG destroyed a Legendary VBI SMG which I paid real money for the Arkforge Keys expecting to get my Mods back so I could Mod the Bloodhound. Nope They Nerfed my Gun so that it can’t be Modded now. Little things like that really piss me off! That’s just not right? ya know?
I still can’t believe The Walking Dead Season 2 is not on this sale. Please Sony, please Telltale, do something. I wanna play it on my Vita. I still have hope! Cheers.

Gamestop had better deals on things like Mass Effect 3 11$ Or Final Fantasy 13-2 for 15$ Come on PSN yall need to stop ripping off the plus members with Old ass games that most of us who are VIP members or even not have either played before or beaten already. Give us something not on the bottom shelf. Give us Watchdogs or something. It’s a 30$ game now at Gamestop. You keep release low quality garbage from games 3-4 years old or more than people are gonna start RENTING games to play and PSN and Sony is gonna lose a crap ton of Money in the end. This Year alone the PS3 and their PS4 Failures has to be the start of a Noticeable Decline in the Videogame Industry. The Quality just isn’t their anymore and the Graphics on some of these Popular Games are just plain Garbage. It’s just getting worst and worst if it has good graphics the game is way undertested full of Gamebreaking Bugs and Glitches. It’s been a Stressful year when games like GTA5 STILL HAVEN’T FINISHED AND PUT OUT THEIR HEIST DLC!!!!! Which they said would be here in Spring. It’s almost WINTER! What the Hell Rockstar is this not FRAUD? I bought GTAV for only that DLC and have waited patiently until the point where I just stopped playing GTA5 all together. That is one of the better explanations I heard.
For one thing Demon Souls was free for Plus VIPS a while ago and Fatal Frame III is an older Console game off the PS2. What they should have done was gave us Fatal Frame HD Collection which is for PS3 and PSN. Ps2 games will *%# up your Playstation 3 don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’ve had to do a HDD Wipe 2 times before cause of it.
Digital Games are better cause the disc never can be scratched or broken they can be Downloaded to a Friends PS3 or other console and that is why it’s better to pay a little bit more for a Digital Game than a Blu Ray Disc Game. They stay in your Download List. That’s a good enough reason.
It’s kind of like you buy one get one free kind of thing. True Gamers have more than one PS3 cause they are easy to fill up the HDD space. Alot of people may have the same favorite mutiplayer game on both to network. Ps3 is a Old Gen Console now they could drop the new price of game to 40$ they would sell more of them which would make up the difference and then some.
Hey Sony, how about giving us an official response regarding the PvsZ: Garden Warfare issue that many of your paying customers seem to be having. Even if it’s just “we’re working on it”.

Dead Nation was also a FREE GAME when Anons hacked PSN it was given out for free now they want to charge people for a game that was free before.
It’s a Zombie Sale and I love Zombie Killing Games and can think of tons and tons of the best ones right off hand and this SALE FEATURED ZERO of them and it’s suppose to be a Halloween/Zombie Themed Sale. Terribly Executed. No Medieval never few Spooky/Goth theme games and not Scooby Doo games. And yeah, let’s get some official word on PvZ: GW’s status. I can understand some hiccups when a sale first goes live, but it’s been almost 24 hours now and a bunch of people can’t play the game they paid you for.
@18: No, it wasn’t. Corpse Party has almost always been $9.99 on PSN, and Book of Shadows was always $19.99. As for PSP games being unreasonable at $9: No, they aren’t, at least not Corpse Party, which none of us has any right to be playing on our shores. Good luck finding that disc if you’re playing on a PSP, because it doesn’t exist in the West.
Besides, I would think many of us play PSP games on our Vitas, and for good reason. I prefer most PSP titles to anything that’s been released on Vita, if only for the sake of my launch-unit battery life.
I purchased and downloaded PvZGW but when I try to load it I get an error code which says it’s not possible to start application… what should I do?
Will the spend $100 and get $15 work on 10/28 after the update, or does it expire when the store updates? Basically, if we’re fast, will week 2 discounts count toward that promotion?

It’s been a full 24 hours since I purchased PvsZ: Garden Warfare now and I still can’t play it. There are many others in the same boat as me.

Tha sales on PSN EU (UK) are so much better, there are much more contents. For example, Red Dead Redemption is full on sale, the game and the DLC, why we don’t have this on US?
An update on the PvZ Garden Warfare issue: I got tired of waiting after 48 hours of calling and chatting with support and jumping through all the various, ultimately futile hoops they sent me. I called and requested a refund, which they said would come within 24 hours, although it was in my Wallet in about 3 hours. I downloaded the game again (which is actually a new, non-broken version that Sony pushed to the Store), remembered to RESTORE LICENSES (you have to do this part so your system realizes that the PvZ on your system is not the one it had earlier), and voila! It runs! I highly recommend just calling and getting a refund and trying again. I got tired of waiting, and I would probably still be waiting if I hadn’t acted.
This seems like a pretty tame list compared to what I saw for the EU counterpart. They got a TON of game deals going on as a “Halloween special.”
This sale is just plain insulting after seeing what PSN EU is getting.
Good sale but im still holding out for Silent Hill BoM to become a free plus game. I played the demo but was really confused by it. I didnt know whether to like it or not. Such a huge departure from Silent Hill and it seemed really repetitive .
