There’s a little bit of déjà vu going on as our PlayStation Plus members will once again receive two games free the day they hit the PlayStation Store – Velocity 2X on PS4 and Joe Danger’s release on PS Vita. Of course, there are other great titles including Sportsfriends on PS4, PS All Stars Battle Royale and Hoard on PS3 and TxK on PS Vita.
On PS4, Plus members will be able to download Velocity 2X and Sportsfriends. Velocity 2X is the sequel to Velocity Ultra and features arcade shooting and puzzle platforming with a cool teleportation mechanic. Sportsfriends is the perfect title to complement your parties, as it features 4 mini-games – BaraBariBall, Hokra, Super Pole Riders and Johann Sebastian Joust– to bring out the competitive side in everyone.
For PlayStation 3 owners, you can nab PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale, the game where you can get together with friends and pit PlayStation characters like Sly Cooper and Kratos against each other. And Hoard, an action-strategy title where you’ll play as a dragon attempting to get as much gold as possible.
PlayStation Vita owners can pick up Joe Danger for the first time on the platform and enjoy some good old fashioned stunt racing, as well as TxK, a remake of the classic arcade shooter Tempest.
All of these games will be free for Plus members starting September 2nd. If you want to see these titles in action, check out the video below.

I want Lego Marvel for the PS4!
Worst update ever.
Thank god PlayStation All-Stars is free. My retail copy broke a few days ago and now I don’t need to pay for it!
If anyone is interested try out PlayStation All-Stars since its a great fighting game. Come visit the forums soon!
incredibly weak month. ps+ has really been going downhill lately.
Sportsfriends yes! I already have PSASBR, but I’ll give it a download in case I need to trade it in.
I expected to see Injustice for the PS4 become part of the instant game library. I’ll give Velocity 2X a try though since it looks decent.
As a Vita only owner I am satisfied
OMG!!!!! I really regret renewing my PS PLUS!!! Seriously another indie for ps3? I understand the monthly release of indies on vita and ps4 but FOR PS3 in consecutive month?????
“Do you even READ the monthly guess threads on the forums every month? We basically tell you what we want to see, and its not this.”
Hahaha
It’s almost as if a huge company doesn’t make million-dollar decisions based on the screeds of a bunch of children on various forums. I know, it’s a bit humbling, but what you want is irrelevant to the discussion when what you want is unrealistic and economically unfeasible. Sony doesn’t own the rights to every game you want, and even if it did, it’s not going to give you everything you want. It’s in the business of selling video games. Your $4 a month doesn’t change that. I can’t believe how complicated this is for some people.
So #Playstation, The community does not mind if you want to skip a month of free games in order that you might give us something that isn’t a 2D platformer on PS4. I’ve been a member for a long time, and I was happy with my PS3 games for PS+ when it was optional. It seemed as though you gave us high-er quality games as to entice us into your PS+ service. However, for PS4, because it is basically required your “striving” to give us great games has been at a loss. This saddens me greatly. #WhereIsTheQuality
Sportsfriends and Playstation All-Stars is good but I was hoping for at least Knack for the PS4. Not that indie games are bad, Tower Fall Ascension is great and I continue to play it, but a 1st party title would be nice once in awhile.
I must say this is one of the worst months of plus games that I’ve seen so far. All Stars is a decent game but I already own it. It would be nice to get an actual retail PS4 game for once considering we were promised one at launch that still isn’t even out yet. PS Plus has been a great service and I hope it can one day return to that greatness. For now, indie sadness awaits.
Thank you for Velocity 2X. My PS Vita is so happy!
Saints Row IV would have been nice though…with a DLC discount :)
Should have gotten a ps3 waited a couple years, got a ps4 when they’ll actually get good freebies.
My my… this must be the worst line up yet!
All indie? Seriously? What about people that hate indie games?
Also, why not use the plus subscription to show people the power of the PS4? Instead of putting games on it that could have run on the PS1 easily.
I, like most here, have a PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, and there’s nothing for me next month…
Well this is okay I own 2 of the games off this list and I have been waiting forever to play joe danger. And it’s not a problem for me because I do have a life.
I still think it is a decent month, but def not a great month. been holding off on getting the PS All star game and glad I did. Looking forward to that and Velocity 2X. I do agree with a lot of people that they need to start getting better PS4 games, so many Indies I would like to try out like valiant hearts and others but don’t really want to pay full retail for them. Hopefully if Sony is smart in Nov. for the one year anniversary of PS4 is to give Knack for free along with maybe Child of Light or Transistor.
If you do just have a PS4, i do think the PS+ lineup so far is not really worth the $50 or so people spend on it, but I already got my $35 back just in two months from PS3 and probably Velocity 2X.
My suggestion, Krisitne if you do reply is this. Why dont you guys have a poll at the beginning of the month and ending on the Tuesday of the month, the PS4, PS3, and Vita you guys looking to put for the next month. For example on the PS4, have a list of 4 to 6 games be available next month and everyone w a PS4 and Plus can vote for their 2 favorite and than at the end of the month announce the winners. Do the same thing for PS3 and Vita and have 4 to 6 retail and 4 to 6 PSN to choose from and pick one for each one.
More lame indie games I’ll delete off my hard drive after playing once, whoopty doo. Been disappointed with the free ps+ games ever since I bought my PS4.
Overall rather Meh. I like Hoard showing up, and though Txk and All Stars are nice additions Hoard is the only one that really excites. I like indie games (Sound Shapes, Spelunky, Terraria etc.), but I would agree with comments that the indie games have been a little strong, especially with PS4. The great graphics and power of the system aren’t represented in the games offered, with Resogun being the only one that comes to mind. Please try to show off its power a bit more, as it is rather fantastic.
Its annoying to see a lot of people complain about the quality of content being offered for free here. Just because they are mostly indie titles, doesn’t mean its a bad thing. I’ve never even heard of some of these titles like Velocity 2X and it looks like a lot of fun. These small developers put a lot of work and passion into their games and its sad to see some not get the attention at all. Be thankful to even get all these games offered to you. Theres always going to be good content continuously rolling in for PS+ . Thanks for everything PlayStation and look forward to more!

Sony doesn’t get to just pick whatever games it wants for Plus. There are negotiations that take place for every game. The publisher of each game has to consent (i.e. be paid a sufficient amount of money, which I’m sure varies widely based on the quality of the game, the length of time it’s been out, etc.). Certain publishers probably want no part of it at all.
These are business deals, not a popularity contest. And because the service is so cheap (seriously, $50 a year per customer is not a lot of money), there have to be some clunkers in the lineup sometimes. You can’t give away six top-level games every month. Not at this price.
These games are exactly what PS+ should be used for… if you haven’t bought them by now, you probably weren’t going to at any point in the future. However, you can now try them and see if they offer anything interesting, and it’s virtually risk free.
Personally, I’ve been intrigued by Sportsfriends but I know that local multiplayer games barely get any use from me. I wouldn’t have paid for it, but now that I have it, I’ll put it on when I have people over and hopefully keep some non-gamers entertained. And if it’s real good, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the next Die Gute Fabrik game (what a crazy name for a developer!).
People, Knack and Killzone are not inherently better than any of these games just because they’re retail. I’m sure when they finally do come to PS+, there will still be complaints.
Oh well, you can’t please everyone. I’m glad the focus is on GOOD games instead of just RETAIL games.
Wow probably the worst month ever.
“I’m glad the focus is on GOOD games instead of just RETAIL games.”
Fully agreed. This is the first month that has truly disappointed me, but still, the service has been fantastic. And coming in a plastic box is absolutely no guarantee of quality. I’d rather see more creative hit-or-miss indies on PS4 than guaranteed mediocrity like Knack.
Man what a grreat month! I was sooo tempted to buy PS all stars, so glad I didn’t. YESSSASSSASAS! PS Plus rocks!
Hello,
I have had a ps plus sub for many years. I am a fan. That said, I feel we should get a big game for ps4. I bought it at launch and just renewed my ps plus sub for a year. A aaa launch title from last november would be a nice thank you for making the ps4 a hit.
I would like:
Assassin’s Creed 4 or maybe the freedom cry standalone.
Killzone Sf intercept mode
Tomb Raider de
If not, Guacamelee stce would be nice.
On Vita Y’s memories of C. Would be awesome!
Thanks.
@chip1010 You act like your an expert but you’re not. We pay for ps plus 50$ a year yet we dont own all the games. All of it are just rentals. Even if non-sony game company throws out games on plus, they are giving it for free, they all got shares from ps plus and they are not giving the copyright to sony because as Ive said all of it are rental games
typo *they are not giving it for free
Decent month, PSASBR is the only thing i’m looking forward to, give us Saints Row IV.
nothing to me this time….. for me, worst plus month ever!!! (however, there have been very good the last few months; so do not complain if I do …… but not much)
And also those AAA classic non-sony games, they already got tons of money from it before they throw it on ps plus. If you really are a long time ps plus subscriber you probably know that those games they put on sale will become a free next month or later. So therefore they profit from SALE + PS PLUS shares.
Can’t wait for Velocity 2x. Anyone who saying this is a bad line up especially getting Velocity 2x (at launch may i add!) for free don’t know what they are about to get into. I’m pretty sure once it comes out everyone will be saying how awesome it is.
Also to everyone complaining about the line up. You guys are pretty much asking for every game in the next seven years to come out already and be free. You have no control over playstation + no control what so ever. If you don’t like the games its simple, don’t download them. Its sad though because you could at least try them out, there fore i recommend you try out Velocity x2.
If not i’ll be every game and all games for you that are coming out and that are out already. So stop complaining and being whinny and go clean your rooms like the little good boys and girls you are.
These games are well, how should i say this… ****. Fair enough, ps4 hasnt got many outstanding titles to release but im dissatisfied at the lack of PS3 games being offered… Better games could’ve been released such as, Dead Island, Resident Evil 5, Silent Hill, or even MGS4.. PS+ has went downhill for the ps4 since Outlast was released..
@hazelcabug Uh, OK, call it whatever you want, but calling it a rental doesn’t change the fact that each publisher must be paid and agree to allow their game to be on Plus. And agreeing to put your game on Plus means sacrificing sales. Plus subscribers aren’t renting these games for just a couple of days to try them out. Virtually any game going up on Plus can be played and beaten and forgotten. That doesn’t always equal a lost sale, of course, since a lot of these games wouldn’t be purchased by many people anyway, but it means that every Plus subscriber is MUCH less likely to spend money on any game they can play on Plus. You’re dreaming if you think allowing millions of people to “rent indefinitely” doesn’t affect a publisher’s bottom line.
Thanks for the games this week!
My Wishlist:
PS3: Catherine, SSX, God of War: Ascension and Beyond: Two Souls,
PSVITA: Sound Shapes, Guacamelee, Tearaway, Ys: Memories of Celceta and DanganRonpa: Trigger Happy Havoc,
PS4: Steam World Dig, Transistor, Child of Light, Valiant Hearts: The Great War and Rogue Legacy.
Another disappointed month.
PS4 users need something more substancial.
I did not buy the PS4 and signed the PS Plus to stay only playing indie games.
What’s with this stupid crap? More indie for PS4. WOW. What’s the point on getting a PS4 if PS3 is getting so many killer titles?
Wow. The first month since the launch of PS+ where there will be nothing for my tastes whatsoever.
Starting to feel like a rip off. Sony is getting cheap these last few months. Awful month.
I swear, some people around here seem convinced that if they just complain enough, we’ll get 6 AAA titles a month.
I’ve got a PS3 and a Vita and I’m really liking this month. I already had PSASBR for Vita, so it’ll be nice getting this and using the cross save feature (and to echo an earlier request, sales on the DLC would be great here) and Hoard sounds like a neat concept. And I’ve always wanted to try the Joe Danger games.
For PS4 owners, right now I’d imagine AAA developers are a little hesitant to put their new titles out there for free on PS+. It’ll come eventually. But some of you guys… man… whiny.
C’mon Sony this isn’t funny anymore, please give us the old instant game collection format and some good sales!!!
Seriously there needs to be a poll because this is a joke.
The poll thing sounds good !!!
Velocity 2X!!! Absolutely awesome! I was going to buy it anyway, so thanks!! Just finished Velocity Ultra for the Platinum and it was a blast to get! Can’t wait!
Have Velocity and platinumed All-Stars a while back. As for Joe Danger played the PS3 version for a bit so looking forward to trying it out on my Vita. Hoard, TxK and Sportsfriends are all new to me so will definitely give them a shot. Not too hyped about this month personally, but glad that there is different games for everyone else to enjoy on here. Hope we get another awesome flash sale next month, and that the PS+ Discounts keep coming! Glad to see all 3 of my Sony systems are being supported!
Probably no one reads this but you guys do know that 2 trophies for TxK are glitched since the game released and no one seems to fix it.
At what point will Sony come through and provide PS4 users a decent game choice?
This is a constant disappointment to read the new games list every month.
We did not buy the latest console to have Indy Games as the only selection.
Lets see some free AAA titles now the console has been out 9mths!!
@368 – I like your idea of letting everyone vote on next month’s free games. I’ve thought the same thing myself.
Why not give us all a choice on what comes out for free? Then at least the majority would be pleased, instead of everyone on the forums whining.
And I don’t have a PS4 yet, but I’ve been banking all of the free PS+ games. I’ll finally buy a PS4 when there’s enough top-notch games worth playing. But if I had a PS4 now, I would be disappointed in the free games so far. I have hope that the games line-up will improve in the future.
Overall, well, not very impressive (for me, but there is a lot of variety for all types of gamers here). still going to Grab Battle Royale (because looks fun) and velocity 2X because it looks awesome.
