@46 – I’m not the one whining – that would be the ones saying they called Sony and spent their time trying to get refunded. All I said was that they should implement a price protection policy. I am quite content with Transistor for the full $19.99 I paid for it (and I suggest everyone purchase it).
@51 I didn’t say you were whining. I stated it generally. Like a “rule of buying” or something haha. Sorry if it came across like that since I picked out your comment specifically.
I like the idea of deals and price protection as much as the next person but I don’t go insane trying to find $2 off of something I want to buy. I look at websites where people find physical games like The Last of US for $10 and hoard them to resell. I enjoy buying digital mostly because of the regular amount of sales (for a non-metropolitan like me it’s nice), the ease of use, the fact that I don’t have to go to a store and look for the last copy of a game anymore, and the personal fact that I wouldn’t sell it even if it was physical anyway. I just think a refund policy would make more headaches than anything else, for both the customer and Sony.
Games are a luxury. Whatever you pay for a luxury is equivalent to the amount of satisfaction you expect out of it. I personally think that games are undervalued as a source of entertainment as they provide a hands-on experience that you rarely find without spending at least $60+.
I think I talk too much for this blog.
Transistor is the best game of the year in my opinion. Everyone should buy this, support the Dev. 20 dollars was a steal when I bought it. It is short (6 to 8 hours) but I replayed it a bunch of times in ng+ The battle system is beyond great.
Shame you guys didn’t discount Child of Light on Vita as well; it’s really good on the Vita.
yay, finally some ps4 titles!
unfortunately, the discounts for the ps4 indies aren’t ideal, especially considering i already bought child of light and all the dlc on the ps3, and i already have don’t starve from ps+. that, transistor, and trials are only about $5 off. it’s also difficult to buy those games because i feel they’ll get added to the IGC eventually. i’ll look into strike suit zero and tiny brains since those discounts are a lot better.
i’m actually most excited about infamous first light. it seems like the “festival of blood” of second son. as long as there’s no spoilers to the main game, and it’s decent length and stuff, i do think i’ll purchase that.
by the way, tiny brains is still showing up as $4.99 instead of $2.50 for me.
@XxTigerheartxX #1 That has happened to me countless times! now with PSplus I usually wait to buy games full prince unless I really really want it, or have friends that will be on with me. That is why I waited and I am now about to buy Trials fusion and possibly tiny brains and child of light. might just wait for child of light because it might just be added to my backlog. any ways thanks guys for the awesome sales, keep them coming!

Other than Beyond: Two Souls and Guacamelee!, I have to say that PAX Prime didn’t show really good games. Not sure if I would be interested in any of these.

@Chip1010 Oh. Then again, I have no idea what game were you talking about before I wrote that comment. And charging full price for a year old game is somewhat true. Just saying, but no one in the right mind would still pay $60 for any game a year after it came out (Unless it’s rare, out-of-print, or a limited edition).

There are a few titles I might get. But, I feel similarly to what others have said about how “Child Of Light” should be crossbuy on all Sony game platforms.
Someday “Child Of Light” may be offered for free on PS+, and I’m sure a lot of people would love to get that game now if it were crossbuy, knowing it may end up being a freebie at a later date but having only the one system option is disappointing to say the least. Most gamers spend a lot of money on games, and have precious time to devote to each one, therefore many won’t get that far into the game because some blockbuster AAA title comes out (Looking at you Destiny) and so that lil game gets put on the back burner often times never played again.
So here we have a game that has received critical and mass acclaim alongside great reviews and is also available on the three main PS systems: That is wonderful, because it reminds us to play it. Each time we see it on one of our systems we think about playing. If we owned it across all three systems many more would play and finish the game because it’s everywhere begging us to play it.
But when the only options are to buy it for just one platform or pay for it up to three times then the sale is not very enticing.
I know a lot of people complain about sales, and about Sony, and about what they feel entitled to have, so I don’t want to sound ungrateful at all, because I’m not ungrateful.
I just think sales like these keep gamers interested in trying new games, and why do we the gamers spend money on these games. It’s because a lot of us want to enjoy something new, have fun and maybe have such a great experience we tell others about the game.
Sony and quite a lot of companies and programmers that create games on their PlayStation systems seem genuinely interested in giving to the community. Look at PS+ for example, that idea seemed odd to many at first, but once they realized how many great free games could be obtained and played for just a subscription fee many people started jumping on board.
Hats off to Sony for having sales on a pretty consistent basis. But I still believe that it would be in Ubisofts, and Sony’s best interest to make “Child of Light” a crossbuy game while on sale, or even later on. Before too long enough people will have moved on to other games and then this game will become a forgotten gem. This was a chance for people to get excited about and then play a wonderful game.

Are these not avaliable for people in Australia, i look at the store and see the sale, im like oh great a game im after, Ratchet and clank, i can get it for $7.50 on the sale, i log into my account, the page doesn’t exist, i go to the sale page aswell, doesn’t exist, am i expected to pay $25 for the same game others are getting for $7.50, thats over 300% price difference.
Great Sales! I’m mulling over Bound by Flame and Child of Light. I recommend Transistor to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet. Also honorable mention to Don’t Starve! I received it with ps+ and it’s so much fun.
