Two long-awaited, rather mysterious titles are not only coming to PlayStation this week — they’ll be free for PlayStation Plus members from the get-go.
The adorably puzzling Road Not Taken puts players into the boots of a tiny ranger, seeking to rescue lost children after an unforgiving winter storm. Procedural level generation will keep you on your toes, and will mean a different story each time you play.
Metrico is an infographic-inspired side-scrolling platformer that uses PS Vita’s unique hardware to deliver an experience you won’t find anywhere else. Figure out how to manipulate the very world around you to overcome unassuming obstacles, and veg out to an ultra-chill soundtrack by Dutch composer Palmbomen.
Other highlights this week include The Swapper, part of the PlayStation Store PLAY 2014 promotion (PS Plus members can pre-order to save a few bucks), and a standalone version of legendary brawler Ultra Street Fighter IV. Read on for more details on this week’s new releases, and enjoy the Drop!

The Swapper takes place in an isolated and atmospheric sci-fi world. Players wield an experimental device which allows them to create clones of themselves, swapping their entire consciousness into new bodies to overcome the challenges of the environment.
The world’s greatest fighting game evolves to a whole new level with Ultra Street Fighter IV. Continuing the tradition of excellence the series is known for, five new characters and six new stages have been added for even more fighting mayhem, with rebalanced gameplay and original modes topping off this ultimate offering. Maybe if every 4/5 Indies didn’t seem like they were generic 2D retro platformers, then maybe I’d be a bit more gracious towards them. ‘Indie’ might not be a genre, but its a term indicative of certain attributes. And there are not many that I have played and enjoyed. Why anyone would enjoy pixelated graphics is beyond me, and I hate the platformer genre.
I did not buy a Vita (PS4 for that matter) for games I can buy cheaper and at the same quality level on PC or Android. Nor do I appreciate Sony pushing them down our throats constantly. There’s a reason Sony had the weakest E3 this year
Phantom Breaker was confirmed for the 12th in NA, the devs didn’t say why but they delayed it twice within 2 or so days. It’s on 2pb games facebook page
I, too, am skeptical of the glut of 2D sidescrolling games. And also of rogue likes. But, honestly, Rogue Legacy is my favorite game currently on PS4 (until Destiny comes, I suppose). And the only reason I gave it a shot was because of Spelunky.
I have read little about Road Not Taken, but I loved Triple Town. If they take that formula and can make it deeper and Story-oriented, I’m sold. Especially because it’s free.
An Dragon’s Crown for Vita is my “Triple A” release this week. Looking forward to playing that on an upcoming trip.
Also, from one PR guy to another: man, is it rough providing a forum that people get to bash you endlessly on. I don’t agree with everything Playstation does (give us EA Access, please) but I knew what I was getting when I bought a PS4. And this fall will be overflowing with big-budget titles. I am looking forward to a time when games are “exclusive” to the now-current generation. Even still, playing Destiny on my PS4 feels a lot better that playing just about anything on my PS3.

Thanks for the update, Ryan. Looking forward to trying the new PS Plus games – and am especially excited for Destiny in September. Until then… I may have to revisit possibly the best game I’ve ever played: The Last of Us. (Remastered)
Though it pains me to miss out on even a scrap of content (in these cases, XMB themes), I’ll be ducking out of The Swapper and CounterSpy this PLAY — just too tight on funds, agonizingly close to starting steady work. However, looking forward to the Plus additions, though neither of the new titles (Road Not Taken and Metrico) are for the platform I own (PS3), which I hope to change come a few paychecks. Oh, the backlogs Plus has accrued…

i want wolfenstein digital ps4 for 30-35 bux on flash sale and transistor and vaiant hearts one those 3 games goes on sale for decent price im scooping them up.

Just a heads up to people: Sacred 3 is NOT like Sacred 1 or 2 at all. There’s no open world, no loot, no RPG elements. It’s a mission based corridor action brawler. Be sure that’s what you want before buying. I will not be supporting this game at all. The Sacred series is now dead.
kind of disappointed how sacred 3 did a total 180 from the previous 2 titles and went linear from the reviews I’ve read on steam about it when it launched on pc last week.

Guys we are waiting for more PS1 games on the Vita! Two Great examples are the Crash Bandicoot Series and the Spyro Series! Really waiting for them to be made avavaible for North American Vita owners, it makes ZERO sense that gamers in north America not have access to them. They are timeless PS1 Classic Gems that we loved playing when we were younger and that we would enjoy having now!!!

It never seems to amaze me about how people cry and complain all the time about the games. Everything is not going to be to your liking all the time. On another note i like the ps plus games there giving out for free excellent line up.

I’m confused when a ps plus title comes out it has been a plat former and every month people say “err I’ve been waiting for this game” are you kidding me?!?!?! why don’t you speak up and say whats really on our minds WE ARE TIRED OF PAYING FOR CRAPPY 8 bit games! something also confused me…. you guys turned down the EA subscribe offer because “”it doesn’t have games that playstation gamers have come to expect?!?!?! cause they were offering titles like BATTLEFIELD 4! and again what has PS Plus provided for ps4??? the same platforming crap that I stopped playing ten years ago. I bought this console for next gen not to go back three generations please come out with something that makes me want to keep my ps4!!!

The summer sale for North America already happened, folks. It wasn’t very exciting, but it did exist.
The Swapper…damn that game looks really good…I’m getting it without doubt…not tomorrow but I’ll definitely get it at some point.
