  • Dear Sony,

Please drop the “cross buy” program completely thereby forcing these entitled whiners of the “me” generation to find something new to complain about.

You do realize that Ryan Clements, who normally posts the updates, worked at IGN (BEYOND!) as a journalist for many years? So your assumption the people posting these are NOT gamers is uninformed. However, since he is now an employee for Sony he is required to fall within the guidelines of his employer and post what is required, but cannot divulge what he knows as a normal games journalist. Basically, don’t shoot the messenger.

    Post 73
Again you are uninformed. Music Unlimited is the subscription based service that lets you stream music from a catalog of albums similar to Netflix and movies. Video Unlimited shares the name format only. It can be linked to your PSN account and you can rent/buy movies, but it is not a service akin to Neflix.

    Do your homework before posting.

  • Hey Ryan, is Planetside 2 still coming tomorrow on PS4

  • @shudderdust

I think 73 was referring to the PS4 version of Video Unlimited. Because you can’t download videos to the PS4 HDD, you have to stream any videos you’ve purchased. Can’t stream every video, only the ones you’ve purchased, but you do stream the videos.

  • It’s probably been asked a thousand times already but I’d like to know, is Ryan Clements’ Raiden avatar supposed to be available on the PSN Store? I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

  • Dusty_TheBrawler

    hello everyone and Beyond!!!!

hi ryan great week on psn… any news on freedom wars release date????

  • @104, Most Sony employees and Developers who post on the Blog have their own avatars because they post with special news accounts not linked to the Playstation Entertainment Network (games, trophies, etc).

  • Nice update; everyone who never picked up Guacamelee before needs to give the game a shot :D! Its a wonderful 2D side-stroller that mixes large open levels with really fun combat and colorful visuals. I had a ball platinum the game last year, so I strongly recommend the game to anyone who never played it :).

But one thing is bothering me, where is a date for the Ratchet Collection Sony? I mean, EU is getting the collection for their Vita’s next week but US still has no news on a release date :l. I would understand if it was another underwhelming effort like the Jak Collection was, but from what I saw online, the Ratchet Collection is really good on Vita :). Considering that, why would you take so long to bring to US PSN? You did the same thing with the Sly Collection too (and that is also a great port as well :D) and I doubt Ratchet Collection is going to be cross-buy in US PSN, so why hide the release date?

People have no issues paying for something if it is a quality effort, so it would be nice if someone could give an update on the collection’s release date :).

Loved Ratchet 3 growing up (beat the game god knows how many times growing up :D), so I would be happy to do that again on my Vita :).

  • Gundam Reborn!!!

  • @Rezolution77 I only bought one movie from Video Unlimited for my PS3 and I can’t download it to my vita. Possibly it’s because vita only has SD movies. I bought the HD version for PS3. You should get the SD version free when you buy the SD version but unfortunately that’s not the case.

  • *the last SD I obviously meant HD

  • @ Kai_Shenlong @ Rezolution77:
Have fun being wrong, both of you. As several others after me said and myself personally, we have redownloaded videos, that we have BOUGHT. FACT. I own all 46 episodes of Young Justice. I have both redownloaded episodes on my PS3 as well as used the Video Unlimited service to stream them on my PS4. And no, Rez, Video Unlimited is not a subscription service, as far as I know. It’s simply Sony’s video service. You can buy or rent titles. source > us.support.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3792/~/video-unlimited%3A-re-downloading-a-purchased-or-rented-video

However, from that same source > “Rented content cannot be re-downloaded. If you would like to view a video that you have previously rented you will need to rent and pay again.” So obviously as SNORLAXex deduced, you have only ever rented videos. I don’t care what outdated or misinformed help articles may so, when multiple users present here are confirming redownloadability and backing me up. Be wrong, Brainchild.

  • @68 – Actually it’s a physical release here in EU.

  • Ratchet Trilogy ???

  • What about Suikoden 2? Ive had heard rumors about it coming to PSN…

  • Sweet child of light is coming to vita.. i wonder how much issit cost…

  • Come on Sony, if you want my money you gotta put up some better stuff than that. There’s a whole library of PSOne/PS2 classics that you STILL haven’t added to the store yet. Breath of Fire 3 for the US is one of them. *hint, hint*.

  • Rezolution77 on June 29th, 2014 at 11:54 am said: “Its the same freaking game, so why have to buy it twice?”

Because it’s not the same freaking platform, you freaking genius. Cross-buy is a freaking bonus when it freaking happens. It’s not a mandatory freaking rule for Sony’s third-freaking-party affiliates to include this freaking feature if they can’t freaking afford to support it.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to go pick up my obligatory free copies of every XBox 360, XBox One, PS4, PS3, Vita, 3DS, Wii U, and PC versions of every game I already bought once, since they’re the same freaking games. I don’t freaking care about sanity, logic, sensibility, or the livelihoods of the freaking companies mentioned. All that freaking matters is ME!

  • @ tom40qrs

    I second that request, wholeheartedly.

  • @101 you obviously are not even worth responding too,
……..but, since you call me The Hunchback of Notre Dame uninformed and yet use phrases like ” worked for IGN (as A JOURNALIST)” when obviously that proved he gamed instead of wrote.
And yet then became social media for SALES.

Then….. You talk about music unlimited which is not even the right subject AT ALL.

    AS for @111

You got blasted in the face with FACT.
….and yet, act like a couple online IDs make something so.
    You are seriously a Newb.

  • I like how Rezolution77 talks about facts, yet provided no facts himself.

  • I hope Another World gets released soon. It’s already out for Wii U and Xbox One.

I wonder if there is going to be some kind of discount for those who already own Guacamelee, or maybe just PS Plus discount? It’s a great game but I’m not sure I want to buy it again whole price.

  • Can we expect any support for google apps, such as gmail, Google+, I just want to login and get access, when playing, but chrome app support would be great, come on Sony, kick Microsoft now its down, make your console not only best for games but also best for web content.

I am also hoping to see the official Youtube app soon, let us know if this is your delay or from Google side so we can put pressure on them.

All the best, and hope to hear from you soon.

    G.

  • I know for a fact that SUIKODEN II is fully compatible with the PS1 emu that Sony uses. Konami has full rights to it and the bugs it features aren’t a problem. What’s more, if those bugs were an issue for Konami, they still have no excuse because Pyriel from Suikosource fixed most of those bugs and he would gladly give the patch to Konami for free. The only reason why SUIKODEN II still isn’t on PSN is ill will from Konami and/or SCEA.

I understand that big companies don’t like small things like PS1 Classics, but there’s minimal work and cost involved here and you’d make thousands of fans happy. Stop pissing us off (and take our money, we insist).

RELEASE SUIKODEN II AS A PS1 CLASSIC!

(Suikoden III, IV and V as PS2 Classics would make us even more happy.)

  • Sony, you need to fix the Price of PS Now. These prices are outrageous.
A game rental can’t cost more than it’s actual purchase.
    Here’s how it should be:
    4 hours = 5% to 10% of the game’s price
    7 days = 15% to 25% of the game’s price
    30 days = 35% to 40% of the game’s price
    90 days= 50% to 65% of the game’s price
Game price is based off the PS store pricing.
Also; there should be a monthly subscription type service like Netflix for around 20$ a month where you get access to all the games.
There are better PURCHASABLE Prices for games on Steam than PS Now’s RENTAL cost. So why bother with these prices?
It definitely needs to be changed.
So, the monthly rental service for the PS Now service; because you need different type of business models.
    20$/Month (=> 15$ if you are PS+ member.)
    50$/3Months
    (75$/6Months)
Netflix just rose it’s prices, so it’s possible to ask more since video games are somewhat more demanding than movies.
You won’t make a dime by overcharging it. Be reasonable and you’ll make your money back with the masses (many buyers).

  • Ratchet and Clank HD for Vita not coming fir 2 july ? If I have CHild of ligth on Ps4 is crossbuy with my vita ?

  • Come on SCEA! Why can’t Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn get a physical disc release? Japan and Europe are both getting physical releases for it on PS3 AND Vita…

  • All set to drop coin on Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition…. then find out my “other” console has it for free. But I love Child of Light and would like that on my Vita.

  • Child of Light Vita and Guacamelee PS4 sounds very likely for me this week. i loved the look of Child of Light on the PS4, but i never jumped on it. Vita seems right :)

  • Off topic: Is P3 FES on sale or the new price tag ($3,99) is here to stay?

  • hey, ryan, reckon you could bug the eu to get a drop-like feature up every week? bites not knowing what’s hitting our store until wednesday afternoon

  • Thank you Sony/Ubisoft for continuing to support the AWESOME PS Vita! I’m buying Child of Light ASAP!

  • I kind of miss the weekly PS+ releases. I have been saving my Father’s day PSN card for Guacamelee

neuropunk Nintendo lol whoooo 5 games a year and no multy platform games , way to go”

It is about quality, not quantity. MS and Sony don’t have any good games anymore. Plus it’s time to quit Sony when casual new noob gamers think POS crap like the last of us is good, including pewpewblastyblasts, and other interactive movies. Modern gaming sucks a big fat one.

“+ exChardude on June 29th, 2014 at 3:49 pm said:
lol at neuropunk spamming every other article with “the death of RPGs””

and why shouldn’t I be? Turn based JRPGs used to be a huge part in gaming. Sony continues to take dumps on turn based JRPG fans. Anyhow, where the f were you for things such as Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, FF7, Secret of Mana, etc.? Where the hell were you then? Modern gaming has sunk so low, and it’s time to quit Sony, especially since I used to buy Sony consoles FOR TURN BASED JRPGS! So, I no longer have any reason to stay Sony.

  • Thank you Ubisoft and Sony for putting the Child of Light demo on Vita!

I resisted buying Child of Light during the Steam Summer Sale (which was not easy) because I’d rather have it on the Vita as long as there are no performance issues. So I’m really glad I can test it out first! Will be downloading the demo tomorrow for sure!

  • Any word if borderlands will be on ps now ? Thanks

  • Any word on when we can start pre-loading Gundam?

  • it’s not Vamanos

it’s Vámonos!! at least we say it that way in my country (Nicaragua)

  • LTSwordmastre360

I’ve been excited for Gundam Reborn all month~ My 500GB PS3 is all set and ready to start downloading it.

It’s…..disappointing(?) to see so many people “whining” about the dub situation. While I’ll say it ~is~ a bit harder to catch everything the characters are saying mid-battle, I’m still happy hearing the Japanese voice actors – especially when they were starting to REALLY make some nasty English choices on DW Gundam 3. DW Gundam 2 was the last of them that had an acceptable English cast, so I’d rather just hear the JP VAs going forward.

Oh gawd…..English Full Frontal….. *bangs head on desk*

  • People whining about lack of turn based games on ps need to chill. People whinig about video unlimited redownloads need a chill pill. Turn based rpgs come and go. PS usually always has more than the competition, so I don’t get the i’m leaving Sony cause no turn based jrpg’s are out yet.. Seems very childish.. Especially when was the last popular turn based rpg i can think of was nu ni kuni white witch. Which was only on ps3. -_- The video unlimited guy was real confusing cause even my nephew knows about free episodes and how to rewatch them. I watch on my vita too since it has a whole seperate tab for videos, right where the download history is.. lol i feel bad for blog team at times .

  • Guacamelle is free on Xbox one tomorrow so nothing for men

  • Jeanne d’arc is out on psn!!! I can finally get it for my vita :) thank you!!!

  • Wanted to check out Guacmalee but being a disabled gamer platformers and I don’t get along kinda wish tat rbi baseball was discounted for plus on ps4 but grat job on the drop again Ryan

  • @ OfficerDewey760

I have a right to criticize Sony for lack of turn based JRPGs especially since that style of game put the Playstation brand on the map in the first place. Sony and developers have abandoned turn based JRPGs fans with a big “f u”. I am left only with games such as Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, Tales series, Diablo 3 and Dragon’s Crown. Great games, but those are only a few and they’re not turn based. FFX, but that’s a port of an old game. There’s no Dragon Quest, no Suikoden, no Breath of Fire, no new classic style Final Fantasies with turn based combat, etc. Stuff like that was my reason for buying Playstations in the first place.

Also, Ni No Kuni sucks and isn’t turn based, fool.

“I don’t get the i’m leaving Sony cause no turn based jrpg’s are out yet.. Seems very childish..”

Out yet, you mean over the past 8 years on PS3 that there hasn’t been a single new turn based JRPG that’s any good? The only good turn based JRPG during the PS3 gen has been Lost Odyssey, on Xbox 360. 8 years and no proper turn based JRPGs. Only a bunch of loli sexualized underage pedophile games such as the Atelier series.

  • @ OfficerDewey760
So, don’t tell me to take a chill pill since I’m furious about lack of turn based JRPGs. You can go f yourself, sleazeball.

I have no PS4 and no plans of one either. Also, it’s funny whenever someone bashes Nintendo, since Nintendo still have better games than the competition. I grew up with Nintendo, and real gamers do not disrespect Nintendo.

  • @neuropunk

You are the definition of “entitled gamer”.

No one owes you any RPGs.
Developers don’t like making traditional turn based RPGs because they are an outdated genre.
The market for them is dead.

Complaining on the blog every day of your life will NEVER get you your precious RPGs back.

Have fun being a Nintendo fanboy though.

  • Oh, jeez. I had no idea we were in the presence of a fabled “true gamer.”

  • Child of Light for Vita… *Goes and get’s Credit Card.* Thanks! :D

I guess that makes me entitled not to purchase any more Sony products. Ever.
If no one owes me any RPGs then I do not owe them any money.
    Nope.
Nope. Cannot buy what they do not make. Also, where are you getting your sales figures from? Bravely Default and FFX sold more than the Lightning Crap Fantasy XIII series, did they not? So, where are you pulling your sales figures out of your ass?
Hmmm, I haven’t posted on the blog in a long while now. You’re saying I do it every day? lol
As opposed to a Sony fanboy? I’m only a fanboy of good games. I’m also going PC so I can play more traditional video games opposed to your shallow mindless pewpewblastyblastbrodude shooters and interactive movies.
