Update: An earlier headline for this post stated that Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is coming to PS Vita, which was incorrect. Type-0 is coming to PS4 in North America and Europe.
I’d like to start this out by thanking everyone who let us know how badly you wanted this game to come to North America. Ever since the original PlayStation Portable release in Japan, you guys have never given up on it, raising your voices in an effort to see this title come to North America and Europe. Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s coming and it’s going to be in HD.

Sony did their part. They created the platform and provided a solid launch and post-launch lineup. Both Sony and the big-budget publishers are still waiting on the consumers to show more interest in the platform. When the money is there, they’ll jump in to feed the demand, believe me.
The Vita moved less units than expected, failing to meet projections. When that happened, it became no longer feasible to fully support the platform. They’re trying to survive in business so they have to go where the income current is strongest. They haven’t quit on the Vita, they just can’t dedicate as much resource to the platform if it isn’t providing adequate returns. It’s up to GAMERS to resurrect the Vita at this point. So, tell all your friends…

If this is somehow being done as a way to help move those next gen consoles, yeah, not gonna happen. I don’t own a ps4 because I don’t have time to sit down at home and play it. I bought gtav and hardly ever touched it, so why buy a new console? Same with dishonored. Bought it, never played it. The vita though I play the heck out of. It’s convenient. Lots of people these days have to work a lot and gaming on the go is the way to go. If anything, this just turns me off more towards eventually getting a ps4. Not necessarily sonys fault, but the vita is an awesome machine and I use it 9 times it’s of 10 compared to my ps3. I wish sony felt the same way.
I fail to see how porting this game to the vita will cost sony much, if anything. Seriously? The games already been created, and they’re putting it out on the ps4. They can’t bring it to the vita? Why the heck not?

So how did Sony possibly not see this backlash coming? Vita owners have been clamoring for this for a long time now and to leave them out is obviously and insult to the entire Vita fan-base; it was Vita owners that showed Sony they wanted this to happen yet Vita owners don’t get it. Also, how can there have been such a massive misunderstanding that Shahid was talking about this being a megaton for the Vita? How can he be so in the dark that he has no idea what’s going on? The whole situation is just utterly ridiculous.
Sony wants the Vita to succeed, but they can’t force people to buy one.
If every Vita owner gets all their friends to jump on the Vita bandwagon, I GUARANTEE you’ll see the publisher support start to pour in. Like Niagara Falls.
The tug-of-war has to stop. And it’s the gamers who need to make the next move. Support the Vita, and you’ll see the same support in return from Sony and third-party pubs.

This was originally a psp game that was released 3 years ago and many people have wanted a localization for a long time many going as far as importing the game. I don’t see how they are whiners for wanting there voice to be heard. I own both ps4 and Vita and I also think this is crap. #NoVitaNoBuy
@696 Vita has the higest attach ratio of pretty much any platform, vita owners do support their platform and lack of sales are more to do with lack of advertising and lack of brand name games (which is more advertisement then quality game 80% of the time imo) then actual vita owners.

I bought a Vita. I play it all the time. I have more games on it than i have time to play. I use it with my PS4. I didn’t waste anything. I got my money’s worth already. :D

Traditional exposure (advertising) requires financial support. Any income allotted for Vita’s budget at this point is probably going towards the diminished publishing support it’s still receiving. So, it’s the same thing. They need more support from gamers in order to have the finances to attract more third party contracts, as well as for further advertising. Like I said, at this point, the GAMERS need to tell all their friends. Help out the advertising campaign through word-of-mouth!

I have a PS3, PS Vita and PS4 and I am not happy that Final Fantasy Type 0 will come out only for PS4. I am expecting this game to be released on PS Vita. I have been waiting for this game since it came out on the PSP. I hope this game will be released on the PS Vita as well. Will buy the PS4 and PS Vita, heck even if a PS3 or even a PSP version comes out for R1. Just release the game on the PS Vita.

I’ve been raised on Sony and on Square Enix; they are how I got started in gaming. That said, both companies haven’t just disappointed me or the other fans, they really insulted us. Sony, you asked what we wanted and we told you we wanted this game: first of all thank you for listening and asking in the first place, however you only heard half of what we said. This is a title that we wanted, but we wanted it for Vita. . . on the go as it was originally made to be. It being announced for PS4 only wouldn’t have been that bad of a thing, but then it’s mistakenly reported that we get what we all asked for: the game on the Vita. Only to have the game taken away. I understand if the remaster was never planned for Vita, and I’m not going to use that #NoVitaNoBuy threat. It’s stupid and childish, but the least both companies could do is make the original available on the PSN as it is in the Japanese PSN(digital for PSP and Vita). To do this remaster the game will have to be translated, so all you would have to do is apply the translation for the digital game. Because the translation is being done already, pushing Square to make the game available on PSN for Vita and PSP will only increase the money made by both companies.

Im pretty sure right now people at SE and Sony have noticed this and the whole #novitanobuy twitter trend, but probably are just going to wait for it to blow over in a day or two (which it most likely will for some). Maybe showing Sony that the vita has supporters through tweeting a pic of your vita and the games you own with it will show that the interest in the vita is very much alive. In order for the Vita to strive its needs support from sony itself. However sony isn’t going to support a system it thinks nobody has interest in or will buy. Its up to us the consumer to support the vita and show Sony just how much we want the Vita to succeed. Just a thought but at the rate things are going this comment will probably get deleted anyways.

I wanted this game to come out for the Vita because it has the most active community of JRPG’s around. But Square Enix’s decision to ignore the Vita and only release on the PS4 and XBONE is dumbfounding because nobody advocated for those platforms to get the game. I’m not buying this unless it comes out for the Vita.

Saw it brought up about disgruntlement of Valkyria Chronicles 2 being a PSP title instead of home console. Here’s the thing, though: Valkyria started on the PS3, so seeing the next, numbered title for a different system must’ve been baffling, especially when its present in the history being repeated with the Vita (though I suppose the indie support’s more prestigious now than as part of the minis program). Most immediate comparison I can think of is Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep (conceptually “Kingdom Hearts 0”), but that’s still in the realm of filler/spinoffs.
So, why not give this one to home consoles? It can be, sure, but unless it’s a complete and total overhaul, this is still a PSP game, made with a handheld console in mind. It’s naturally fit for the Vita. Hell, I’m sure many would’ve been fine just to have an English-language download on the PlayStation Store, since Sony bothered to be sure PSP games would look crisp on the Vita’s screen. But, here we are, with a portable game not made available for a portable console.
Primero, if Sony wants the Vita to succeed, they have to work it. Nintendo’s working the Wii U, and by now, even its half-a-DS controller seems more well-loved than Sony’s PS4 add-on.

Very disappointed, as a exclusive vita gamer I feel like a second rate customer for the company, it’s clear that the support for the Vita has dried out, no first party games, walking dead season two episode three releasing three weeks later than in other systems, lack of sales for the Vita and now this.
If they release another portable in the future, unlikely given the state of affairs for the company, I will not buy it.
Time to consider buying a portable from that other company with the big N, that shows a lot of support for their hardware even when they are in trouble.

I am completely disappointed in how you treat your PS Vita customers Sony. Final Fantasy Type-0 not releasing on the PS Vita is not your fault, but the way you always brush the PS Vita aside and its community is completely heart-wrenching.
So instead of apologizing to the PS Vita owners for your mistake on this blog, you delete their comments (which said comments are completely understandable) when YOU caused this Sony, your mistake cost you dearly and you have to take RESPONSIBILITY. Is it not “Greatness” what you preach?
Humbleness is the first step to greatness Sony. I think you need to rethink your “Greatness Awaits” marketing since clearly, greatness is too big a word for you.

@TJF, and Valkyria Chronicles 2 looked (and was) worse than the original. The downgrade was evident from he announcement. Had it been more like VC3 (which we didn’t get) people would have been less annoyed. BBS is not a spinoff or filler. That’s why they referred to it as 0. It is as impotant as a numbered title. Wihout it KH3 would make no sense at all.
Vita is an incredible console this will only help it in the future.
