PlayStation Plus: Velocity Ultra Free for Members

Space is equally beautiful and scary – getting stranded out there would not be a fun time. In Velocity Ultra you’ll assume control of a spacecraft tasked with rescuing survivors who clearly ran into some unfortunate circumstances while out in the universe. Using your craft’s special teleport ability you’ll save people while simultaneously bringing down the bad guys.

There’s a great deal on the pre-order for Wolfenstein: The New Order on PS4 or PS3, so check it out below. There are also lots of games on sale this week for Plus members including several awesome Vita titles like Persona 4 Golden, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Hacov, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and Ys: Memories Of Celceta.

You can download Velocity Ultra after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow, 4/29.

  • @47 That’s because the sale starts tomorrow when the PlayStation store update

  • @48 OneMoreVillian – Thanks. I was confused for two reasons:

    1. This page shows a *current* price of $14.99 (Vita) or $19.99 (PS3) and the price is considerably more than that at the moment. When it goes on sale tomorrow, the price will hopefully be the MUCH lower prices listed above.

    2. MGS HD Collection is already listed as “Leaving on 5/6″…but the sale doesn’t start until tomorrow? Weird.

    Thoughts??

  • @ 52 – Not weird. The sales last only a week.

  • I literally like JUST bought Muramasa Rebirth for its regular 24.99 on the store. Now its 1/3 the price!! This happens to me WAY too often, can I like call and get a price adjustment?

I have been thinking of buying Lumines Electronic Symphony, but I swear the second I buy it I will come onto the blog and there it will be in the IGC.

  • It seems like the Armored Core game is heavily reliant on online, which is too bad. I would guess the online community is all but dead.

  • Bring back a discount on Music Unlimited, $9.99 a month is too much. How about discounts on movies? Discounts are the best part of PS +.

  • 5 Plus 5 =

  • MGS HD Collection was IGC in EU awhile back and Muramasa Rebirth is IGC in EU this month, so out of principle I will never buy either one.

  • I do not feel sorry for anyone that buys the Rambo game, just a poorly made Railgun shooter that should only cost $5.
Other then that Loving all the items on sale, and im gonna try and get as many of them as I can

  • @58 (xClayMeow) – While I respect your stance, I think you are cutting off your own nose to spite your face. These are two of the best games out for Vita and you’re going to let them pass you by just because SCEA could/has not put them on PS Plus? The only one losing out is you, my friend. In my opinion, both are worth putting money down for, especially at the insanely low prices they’re going for in this sale (MGS2 & 3 and Muramasa for less than $17 is indeed insane). Hopefully, you’ll rethink your boycott…as a fellow gamer, I’d hate to see you miss out on these experiences on the go (Viva la Vita!).

  • BTW just a suggestion, since E3 is on June 10 (which im also sure Sony will have their conference that night) Id say avoid doing a preview for June, except for stuff that would be leaving the IGC and discount section that day. Kinda help with the surprise.

Speaking of E3 Will Spikes coverage be streamed thru the Live Event Viewer, and I dont just mean Sony’s conference only, I want to be able to see everyone’s

  • @52 DotComCTO – Yea I used to get confused too lol, It doesn’t help they speak in present tense in the posts either.

The “Regular” price is referring to how much it costs regular members who don’t have a PS+ subscription during the sale, not how much it’s original price is. As for the “Leaving 5/6 ” means when the sale does start tomorrow those listed as “Leaving” will only be lasting for that one week as @The_Great_Ska briefly mentioned.

@53 Samv33 – Yea that was my one worry too, but at $5 for a game I will never buy at retail I will take my chance, so there will be at least one person online this weekend.

  • Already have Velocity on my Vita but everyone else should check it out. Was just playing it again yesterday and the game is awesome! I’ll be picking up some of those discounted games though like Soul Calibur 5, Daylight, and Tales! Keep up the great work Sony!

  • ohhh i confused daylight for the upcoming dying light.

it looks really cool; i just get so terrified playing those kind of games 0_0

  • @GStylez1980 to follow up.

The Vita has a combo of problems. The biggest, most important one, is that Sony freakin ignores it and treats it like its Harry Potter living under the stairs and is an embarrassment that shouldnt be trotted out in front of people. They ignored it (other than remote play) at E3 last year. They continued to ignore it in other shows and then they try to push late, overpriced Indies at us as if that redeems a $300 investment – it doesnt. I, for one, very much enjoy Japanese developed games on it. But I’d also like some quality Western IPs other than Killzone, Uncharted, and (maybe) Borderlands. It NEEDS Western AAAs if they expect to market and sell it in the West. Hell, they dont even bother to market it at all – and the memory card prices are stupidly expensive, like they are punishing the consumer for choosing a Vita over a 3DS and its cheap SD memory. PS+ only tends to reinforce this issue when they dont offer AAAs on it (and there are plenty of Japanese AAAs if nothing else, like Soul Sacrifice).

  • …continued

At the end of the day, I adore the Vita. And Sony continually shoots itself in the foot by not marketing it or trying to sell it. They could *at least* pay 3rd parties for games like Microsoft did with EA and Capcom on XBO, if they dont intend to support it with 1st party games. Other than Borderlands, there are zero announced Western games for this year – and thats pathetic

  • @xClayMeow: GStylez1980 makes good points, but also consider: We don’t get everything EU Plus does. Yes, we tend to get stuff a few months down the road. But not always. There are many titles they’ve gotten that we haven’t after many months/years. Or Batman: AC (PS3), which they got in late 2012 and we got almost a year and a half later. Are you really willing to wait that long, or even risk never playing it? EU just got Muramasa, so I can almost see your point there. Wait a few months and see. But MGS: HD was added to EU’s IGC in March of 2013. Not impossible, but rather unlikely we’ll be seeing that one join our IGC at all.

Now, many people have complained about the lack of AAA titles available for the Vita. You may not be one of those, in which case the following won’t apply to you: Buy some games now if you have none to play, friend! It’s hard to imagine you’ll miss $16.48 a few months from now if both titles join the IGC. But if you will, then like I’ve said before you’re probably doing the right thing for yourself.

It’s just worth it from a certain point of view to have the game(s) now cheaply vs. *maybe* free down the line.

  • Awesome discounts! I’m so picking up Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers and DBZ. Not interested in the free game this week

  • Sony what are the chances of a 64gig memory card for the Vita in North America?

    **Fingers Crossed**

  • To go along with my previous post, I just stumbled across an Escapist video which encapsulated many of the issues I brought up. EVERY person at Sony who has anything to do with gaming or the Vita should be required to watch it and respond. ttp://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/jimquisition/9111-Revivify-The-Cold-Vitae

  • OMG, why is the PSN attacking my wallet? It didn’t do anything to you :(

  • There’s a lot of great games on the ps3 but when can we start seeing some of these classics on the ps4?

  • Seriously. I cant buy PS4 games before I have a PS4? Im missing adding PS+ games into my account because it wont allow me to add it from the website.

    WHY!?!?

  • Nice discounts. Looking forward to tomorrow.

  • phew it fixed itself. Had to login and log back in before it fixed. Man need an edit on blog posts.

    Sorry about my freak out.

  • Velocity Ultra is a great game.

  • I see several of the games on my wishlist. Thank you very much!

I hope Hatsune Miku for Vita also becomes part of a sale at some point.

  • Now I am definitely buying Persona 4 Golden.

  • Wow…. *Opens Disc Tray*
*trys to shove wallet into computer*

  • Left the best for last hu?…Velocity Ultra is an amazing game, even the mini was awesome…I bought it a couple of weeks ago on sale for Vita but I don’t regret it…because paying $2.00 for it was like getting for free. For real.

Decent sales…but as always on games that I have already or games that I want to have in disc.Anyway may get that Soul Calibur 5 for $5.00…the price suits the title…and to be honest I think thats the right price for it since it was the game that ruined the series…hum…ma bad the right choice is for free.

  • :( What a great time to be broke with all those Japanese games on discount!

  • Wow those are some great discounts, a lot of things I’ll be picking up tomorrow.

  • My Birthday on Tuesday wahoo I did preorder child of light on ps4 :)

  • Soul Calibur 5 in the Store??? Since When??

  • Crappy free offering, great discounts.

  • Velocity Ultra is a great game, those that have not played it just do not know it yet.
Certainly glad I purchased it on sale.

Not really happy with the IGC this month, or the ability / inability to download Spyro…etc..,
and seriously getting irked with Vitas problem of trying to touch a previous statement to revise, and it constantly going back to where the cursor was previously.

Sales look good, but mostly on titles I have already bought.(People waiting for them to go on IGC, should purchase them at those prices -Metal Gear HD
Probably just Chrono Cross for me, but still can not say I am not extatic playing my old favorites on my handheld.

Too bad Hot Shots is only PS3 :(

Anyway, keep those PSOne and PSP sales coming.

  • My just have to give DBZ a second look being and old fan.

  • Another week with nothing for plus. This is getting real old now, plus is dead no point in renewing it anymore…

  • Tales of Symphonia Chronicles @ $10… im picking that one for sure

  • So no discounts on the MSG TRILOGY separately?

  • Five stars for the sales!
If it was for the free game I’d have given just 1 star though.

  • As someone who is relatively neutral in the console wars, I find Xbox has been knocking it out of the park on a more consistent basis with their sales lately, even though I find more value with PS Plus. This is an incredible sale here, and almost makes up for the complete lack of compelling content the last few weeks. It makes me sad, though because I know next week will be back to the same boring selection. And yes, I did get P4 last week or so, and it was good.

Oh well. If anyone wants to give me a new HDD, I’d appreciate it.

  • Hmm not the tales of game I want, still waiting on Graces F to get that kind of sale, but I think I might actually buy something this week. But 10 bucks for both them might be a tough one to pass, on top of that, are each of the ZoE games getting individual discounts? Rather just have ZoE2

  • @92

I guess you missed the 99 cent sale last week I picked up five games for five bucks had a great time with all of them. Haven’t followed xbox sales that much but they never impressed me in the four years I was on their system. All I do know is I’m loving my ps rewards and ps+ freebies and discounts much more than I ever did my live rewards and gold membership.

  • I’m about to re-up my + membership.

  • Awesome! I’ve been wanting to pick up Ys, might as well pick up Chrono Trigger.

  • I see three or four things I would buy but due to last monday and tuesday which put three strikes your out for sony I will pass them up. They showed me how much they respected me as a gamer who supports them with no support for me. Keep you products sony I give up.
I do see two games I will go to gamestop and buy used to take care of my gaming needs. They need my money also and they have some great deals too.

I say support the ones that also support you. Last monday and tuesday was a great let down to so many gamers.

  • Too bad Tales of Syphonia isn’t for Vita :(, and Time and Eternity looks intriguing.
    Not enough to buy though.

Going to pass on DBZ, demo is just not fun enough with the lock on, although the graphics look sweet.
Why isn’t Ninja Gaiden on sale?

Oh well, can’t pass up Chrono Cross.

    Hope Next week looks better.

  • Even though I got a Bad Feeling it will go IGC soon , and would have been much better on Vita, just may have to pick up Rain at that price.
