To help you save on the first six expansion packs, we’re introducing the Killzone Shadow Fall Season Pass. For just $19.99, you will receive access to the following packs as they become available:
- Online co-op expansion pack
Focusing on team play and intense combat, the online co-op expansion pack adds a new co-operative game mode in which you and up to three online friends must survive against impossible odds. Fight waves upon waves of enemies in four new arena maps, featuring a unique leveling system and new unlocks. - Three online co-op map packs
Each map pack consists of two brand-new arena maps you can play in co-op mode with your friends. Please note that these arena maps will only work with the online co-op expansion pack. - Two additional multiplayer expansion packs
We’ll reveal more about these additional multiplayer expansion packs when Killzone Shadow Fall’s launch date nears. Suffice to say they’ll offer many hours of additional multiplayer thrills!

Is this going to be available for purchase in today’s store update? Coop sounds fantastic.
Also, I thought it was pretty clear that only the maps were going to be free. I think it is a good compromise of making all future maps free and allowing folks that care about coop purchase it.
Hrm, sad to see this announcement, but can’t say I’m surprised. Take note GG and Sony – you are playing a dangerous game. People supported the $50 PS+ subscription to play multiplayer on the PS4 because Sony makes it worth it with content. GG comes out and says DLC will be free and then we get this announcement of a season pass. If you keep playing these games of words and the nick/diming of consumers money you will lose.
Horde mode should be included in the game as is.
Co-op should be included as is.
DLC should continue to be free as you said it would be.
If the first two aren’t included as is then maybe you should be selling the game for $40 and charging this season pass for the content anyway. I’m growing tired of this and the gaming industry is going to suffer in the long run. The more you milk consumers for their hard earned money the more you force is to make long term decisions on what we buy and stay with. What do I mean? I mean if BF4 is charging me $60 for the game, $50 for Battlefield Premium, and I’ve gotta pay $50 for PS+ to play multiplayer, along with my internet bill, you can bet I’m going to stop buying other games all together because its time I focus all my attention where most of my money is going.
Oh yes! Co-op on Killzone!!! I’ll happily give you my $20!

Campaign coop…people still enjoy those, GG. Look at halo…it has campaign coop and it doesn’t matter that having 2 master chiefs is weird for the story line. And I’m not bringing up halo just to do so in a killzone topic but it’s the perfect example for why it shouldn’t matter about the story needing to make sense when it involves the 2nd player.

I’ve loved the killzone series and have bought all your games so far but PLEASE dont unlock all the guns from the beginning. This is the only reason i’m not purchasing the game because i see no incentive to keep playing if everything is already given to me.

Forget that noise. Preorders, DLC and season passes are for the birds. Developers have become very ingenious in getting around the plain old $60 that we give them and a little bit of greed in there.

Will the game have dedicated servers?
I’m sure it will have dedicated servers, however the real question is: Will there be server lists?
Matchmaking was one of the worst parts about KZ3 (among many), would be nice if the game could go back to it’s KZ2 roots with server lists and player-customizable matches. If the game does have server lists, that would be absolutely amazing, but just make sure there is always rooms available that abide by the default rules. Would hate to see KZ4 end up like KZ2, in which every match was Radec Academy bodycount 24/7 pistols only.

so how do we pre-order ps4 games like this one if we want to buy it digitally ????!!!!! or is that not an option? are all of us that don’t want physical copes just not able to get any pre-orders stuff?

You know what?… i have already Pre-orderd the PS4, Killzone: Shadowfall, Watch Dogs and Knack and i’m going to buy a PS+ card too… screw it, might as well go for broke. I’ll buy the season pass too! Support the games and devs you like as they say? lol.

You know, I have always loved KZ, and I have REALLY been on the fence as to what to get as a launch title, this or Battlefield 4. However, this is disheartning.
So, basically:
400 dollars for the PS4
100 dollars for an extra controller
50 dollars to be able to access online gaming
20 dollars for the online pass.
The practice of releasing a game at full price, and then charging customers more for bits and pieces of the game, continues on into the next gen. Surprise, surprise.DLC is the worst thing that ever happened to gaming. They take out chunks of the game and expect us to buy them separately and then release a GOTY edition down the road. I also hate when they take out small chunks of the game (like missions) and give them as pre-order bonuses. I really miss those good old days when games were released as full fledged products.

If you want to announce DLC, DON’T DO IT BEFORE THE GAME RELEASES. Hell, the KZ3 versions of Salamun Market and Blood Gracht are the weakest maps in KZ3. At any rate, you guys have my $60 for Shadow Fall on PS4-and-KZSF-D-Day, but I’m going to hold out for Co-op until you guys can really sell it to me. I don’t want it to run around like we are feathers, but I would really like it if we could turn faster to be able to face an upcoming opponent.
Heavy weight speed is great, but turning could be faster. It would appeal to the majority of gamers.
You guys still have the problem where your character’s perspective is shorter than everyone else. Why can’t you guys ever fix it?!!
This was the first Killzone game I was really getting excited about. The co-op mode seems like Guerilla’s version of Call of Duty’s Zombie Mode. Not sure how I feel about that, and the fact that there’s no split screen. I was wanting to have a friend over to play with me. Now I guess we’ll have to take turns watching the other play. Yea. I could see maybe no online multiplayer splitscreen, but no co-op split screen is a little disappointing.
Since I won’t have any friends with a PS4 at launch, I’ll probably pass on the co-op thing. I can do multiplayer with online friends and strangers, but co-op I have to do with real friends. Perhaps, I’ll pick it up later.
I am looking forward to this title with high anticipation and expectations. The “Operations ” mode from Killzone 3 was the most fun for me, but what disappointed me was that there were no DLC with additional maps for that mode. So my question is will there be Operations mode in Killzone Shadowfall, and will there be additional maps for that specific mode of play included in the DLC? If so I am definitely getting the season pass.

@cnx2022 $100 for a controller? $50 for online gaming? $20 for an online pass? What system are you talking about, because it’s obviously not the PS4.
An extra controller (which you won’t even be able to use for Killzone, it seems) is only $60. A PlayStation Plus membership is $50 for a year’s membership and you get free games (and other stuff).
You can game online and play multiplayer Killzone with your PlayStation Plus membership. The $20 is for special co-op packs. You don’t need to buy the co-op if all you want to do is play multiplayer games.
Not sure if i am lost but is there a collectors editions that would include the season pass? I have bought past collectors editions for killzone 3, but i have not heard of any collector for this one any future news?
Man, is this a yearly pass? I may get this for killzone I want it how much is it? I pre ordered killzone shadow fall with my PS4 and watch dogs can’t wait to get it.. I’m gonna be very busy this holiday lmao
Co op should be a part of the game day one and i should not have to pay for it. Well I will just play other games on the system and skip on killzone sorry sony.
People are complaining about $20? If you’re a fan of the series and would like the extra maps and feature set that comes with a season pass DLC group, then get it. If you’d rather just play the game without the extras you can do that too. Getting 10 maps free of charge is pretty generous. If you want ALL the DLC, season passes are just cheaper. You should see what they charge over at Xbox Live for this stuff. It’s way more expensive as is the gold membership they’ve been ramming down the throats of their users since their inception. There’s a reason I’m back to gaming with Sony full time. They’re fair. If you want to see what overpriced and unfair look like, look no further than Microsoft. I had to pay just for the “privilege” of using netflix. At least here they have “free to play” titles and are working on increasing the integrity and bandwidth of their network.

I will buy the PS4/KZSF pack at 439€. But won’t buy the season pass. Still you should do a news to explained that future online maps will be free because that season pass confuse some people…

Really disappointed that the coop mode is DLC. That will limit how many play it,and people always play coop modes the least already.
Very disappointed in this. The game isn’t out but you want us to put faith in a Season Pass that is hosting content that clearly should be in the main game. Second, Sony, you guys said the multiplayer maps would be free no? So what kind of word play is going on with the last bullet point in your description?

Im growing tired of people bashing games, if you don’t want to shell out the extra money then don’t. But theres no need to bash a company for doing WHAT THEY DO…this being making money.
Some of you, I swear must be in your young teens and have no idea where gaming came from. 20+ years ago my parents were shelling out $60 for Metroid, Castlevania, Mario Bros, etc. Times changes and prices inflate right along side with technology…just in case you haven’t noticed Video Games standard price tag has not, so get over yourselves and/or do some research before being ignorant.
Personally Ill be all over this season pass because I for one enjoy the game and want the most out of it. Because thats why I game. For everyone that wants to miss out, cool with me, its not my loss.

By the way people, read the post again, it clearly says ALL MAPS ARE FREE FOR EVERYONE. And GG confirmed we can play with Season Pass members; it would NOT seperate PAID from NON-PAID users.

Does the game ship with any co-op modes included? Or is all co-op only available with the DLC?
They are in the business of making money, and finding any way to do that. I hate the thought of paying for something that is already suppose to be part of the game. I don’t really care much for co-op so I’ll probably be getting just the multiplayer maps.

Dlc comes in 2 flavours those that say 100 kb which means it’s on the disc blacked out so you get a simple unlock code but games like borderlands and borderlands 2 that have 1000MB+ content is NOT on the disc and either was created AFTER the original game to extend gameplay or simply not put on the disc to extend gameplay but regardless if shadow fall just installed a 100kb unlock code as a dlc map pack each time that’s sad but 1000MB+ each you can feel better about the dlc.
As a SOUTHPAW gamer I designed MY own FULL SOUTHPAW control scheme and NEED to be able to use it.
I started with inverted SOUTHPAW and use toggle zoom/crouch but flipped the dpad/face buttons functionality. I also keep freelook,face buttons and zoom on the same side while fire,move and dpad are on the other side.
I hope I can use my scheme in shadow falls…..wish vita kz did this @least inverted SOUTHPAW is there’
Well, Sony did say that they expect to recoup their losses from the PS4 quickly. I guess this is how they do that. Battlefield 4 is looking better…..

No split-screen hu…thats sad…because that means no-buy for me….I would just like to say that BF3 co-op is a superb failure because its online only…..dont make the same mistake Guerrilla….its a sin not adding split-screen to a co-op.If you guys confirm split-screen…consider the season pass bought.
