Hi Arcade and Shump fans! We’re bringing the classic indie PC game Magic Planet Snack to PlayStation Mobile. We have updated the classic game, and it is now called Magic Planet Snack Deluxe. This game is playable on PS Vita, as well as PlayStation Certified devices. This means you can take this little PC Arcade classic with you whenever you get a craving for a little “snack” on the go.
The original game was made by Kyle Reimergartin, a 2nd grade school teacher, for the unofficial Destroy the World competition on TIGsource, many, many moons ago. Here’s a picture of Kyle in his natural environment.
When we decided to re-invent the game, we wanted to mix up the original game play a bit. Our version of the game is playable in two different screen orientations (portrait and landscape). It also includes three previously unreleased music tracks, new cabinet side art for “hamburger” mode, and the ability to use the PS Vita controls or a paired PlayStation DUALSHOCK 3 controller (for the devices that support it). Only the D-pad or analog sticks are needed to play.
We’re extremely excited to finally be able to bring Magic Planet Snack Deluxe to you in its most complete form. Over the next few months, we will include new features, such as online leaderboards, and whatever else we can throw in. This is a game that I’ve always felt needed to be seen by a wider range of people, and what better audience to launch this game for than the Playstation Nation.
Thank you so, so much for your time, and it really is an honor to be able to work with the wonderful folks at Sony to bring this game to you, and to work with Kyle. If you’re interested in following us, here are some twitter handles to follow. Without these fine folks, this would have never happened.
