The Drop: Week of May 13th 2013 New Releases

It is the year 2034. Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within.

Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above. But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever. As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival – the last light in our darkest hour in Metro: Last Light on PSN and PS3 Blu-ray. Enjoy this week’s The Drop.

  • With spring starting to come to a close we still have yet to see Deadlocked and FFA for the Vita. This is stupid. Why did we buy this game? So we could have Ratchet on our Vita’s. Period. So why is it that it’s taking this “team”, and I use that world loosely, Tin Giant taking so long? We haven’t even heard anything since February. Imagine you paid $40 for a game that was supposed to have come out 5 months ago, how would you feel? Ripped off. Either come out with the games or give me my money back. I’m tired of waiting for a game I paid for last year.

  • And not being informed about why it’s taking so long or how much longer it’s gonna be makes it even worse.

    Tin Giant, Worst. Team. Ever.

  • Why is Metro 2033 not on PS3?

  • @47 Bioshock for vita has been pretty much cancelled, irrational games wanted to make an original title for the vita but as of right now 2K and Sony, according to Ken Levine, have to come to some agreement so it may be that 2K is just not willing to fund for a vita project or the two companies arent seeing eye to eye one way or another.

@45 crash was the mario of sony until it became controlled by another company and became multiplatformed. either way i think its important for people to speak out about this. i dont care personally but if we keep bringing it up one could only hope sony would buckle down, and i think if more people were asking for spyro and crash, sony wouldnt have a choice but to work it out and get it released. and you were right Universal did own the rights but that was merged into Activision so its Activision that owns Crash & Spyro at this point

  • @53 it was planned but cancelled, most likely due to business reasons. the team was working on getting a grip on ps3 architecture for the release and were ready to get it released, but THQ didn’t greenlight it. THQ and Microsoft may have made a deal to keep it a competitive game to PS3.

  • Metro… Is going to be great

  • Metro will be awesome if you preorder it because they took out hard mode out of the game unless you pay an extra five dollars on top the 59.99

  • And what about Malicious Rebirth for the Vita???? I asked Sony AND Alvion (who sent me a personal email which I appreciate) a few months back and they confirmed that it is “DEFINITELY” still coming out for the Vita in the US… albeit almost a year after the JP release. But still, there hasn’t been any word about it since I was assured that it was still coming to us US Vita owners. It’s important to note that I wasn’t the only person who found out about this release info… it was all over gfaqs & neogaf as well. I do realize that a lot of people didn’t end up liking Malicious too much, but I for one am still very excited about being able to play an enhanced version of the game on my Vita with its beautiful OLED screen!!

Also, in regards to Rune Factory, is that game just for the PS3, or is it a PS3/Vita release… or Vita only release??? It really doesn’t say at all next to the title which system it’s being released for?? The same is true with that Tiny Token Empires game as well… which is weird too because usually these PSN blog updates are pretty specific in terms of what is coming out on/playable on what system???

  • @neuropunk

Yeah the whole concept of FPS is growing a bit tired but the market isnt nearly as flooded with them as it has been for laster 5-6 years atleast no more flooded with it than games about mining (which oddly enough NO ONE complains about) and I wouldnt say Im sick of FPS because I do find plenty of them fun like Halo, Killzone, Dust 514, Resistance ext.
People give the genre FAR more hate than it deserves and quite frankly that im getting sick of.

  • Anywho this is a pretty cool drop I’m definetly interested in Rune Factory and Metro. Might try Manhunt since it seems to be highly praised. Cant wait to see Plus update tommorow.

  • HOLY SCHMOLEY ITS MANHUNT……… JAMES EARL CASH……………. STARKWEATHER………………. ITS ALL COMING BACKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG IT MANHUNT

  • SOMETHINGS NOT RIGHT HERE !?!?!?!?!?!

  • Don’t you guys find it funny how uncomfortable questions never get answers here?

  • Where on earth is Flying Hamster HD? :/ Sheesh.

@47: Not sure if you are aware, but the next PlayStation handheld has not yet been released. So, how is not having those apps yet a lie? Have you seen them being cancelled? No? Then shoo. As for Bioshock, we’ve had updates on that already. Hasn’t begun development, and won’t unless someone signs the checks to make it happen. So instead, switch your gears to “Sony, sign the checks for Bioshock Vita”.

Only thing on your list worth complaining about is FFA. At this point, it’s just been too long.

  • @51: The game is not $40. If you paid that, you got majorly ripped off and I laugh at your ignorance. And if you bought the game for the Vita version only, then you were dumb as sin.

  • @54: It was never controlled by another company. It was always Universal, up until Activision acquired it. Same thing with Spyro.

  • Please update The PS One classics section of the vita store so we can get the Spyro and Crash Classics!

  • Speaking of where things are…

    Where is Snapshot? :/

  • will metro last light include the ranger DLC in the digital versions???

  • I am surprised you are rereleasing manhunt. with the current ‘violent vidyas make people violent’ discussions going on it supports that view. that is one game I had to put down due it being a bit much. I think R* was testing waters with that game and realized it was too much (or maybe not since there was a sequel but we ultimately got RDR so that works).

rerelease Bully and I am on it, manhunt is a bad game with way too much sadism going on.

  • Last Resident Evil Demo made me go crazy about RE6 and bought it… Twice! …with all DLCs! I’m really looking forward that RE: Revelations Demo. Sweet!

  • @71: Some find games like RDR “too much” violence. I don’t enjoy the level of violence in Manhunt either, but… I just choose not to play it. *SHOCK*

And, I’m pretty sure Bully is already on PSN. I’d check the PS webstore, but it takes too damn long to load.

  • Wasn’t Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery announced like last weekend? It’s already out?

  • Another meh week. Come on Sony, throw us a bone. How about something good for a change? Like a “good” oldschool rpg or something. Legend of Dragoon for the Vita store perhaps?

  • Wheres Kings Field?

  • I cant find any Jacob Jones and the big foot mystery gameplay video on youtube, im really intrigued by the game but i need to see gameplay video before i buy it. Is there gonna be a demo on psn this tuesday?

  • Oh and Shahid Kamal Ahmad in just a weekend has done a lot more psvita publicity than you guys in over a year and months, this guy is reviving some faith to some hardcore fans (me included) on the little system, i really hope his announcement live up to the hype and psvita better have an stellar E3 (yea im looking at you inFAMOUS, God of War, Heavenly Sword, Valkyria Chronicles, Dark Cloud, Gran Turismo, Motorstorm and new IPs) make it happen sony.

  • @67 yeah but there was some sort of deal to keep those games ps exclusive, when that deal was over universal took off with the franchises and then was acquired by activision.. . im pretty sure thats what i said. sony was publishing the first three games, so they did have some sort of control over those titles.

  • More PSone classics

  • @80

    +1

  • I CANT WAIT FOR THE UPRISING DLC FOR BLACK OPS 2..NOT REALLY INTERESTED IN ANYTHING THAT’S GOING TO DROP THIS WEEK..

  • How much gb is metro on psn network? Any one know?

  • Any idea when Metro: Last Light will be available for purchase and download?

  • What is the price tag for “Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery” going to be?

  • I wonder if there’ll be any ninja releases this week. :)

  • If Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny was on Vita, I would buy it. Not interested on PS3

  • for those who are moaning about lack of info of ratchet ffa there might be info this week on this game so hopefully not lot before

  • we get news

  • MANHUNT!

  • I want Jacob Jones… Do you have to be a plus member for it?

  • I dont get it… WHY the heck is Dust 514 up there? It’s been on the Store for around 2-4 MONTHS already…so what’s different now? It’s a “special” edition or something? Anyone knows? =\
Dust 514 is ONE OF THE WORST GAMES EVER anyway, so I don’t really care…but I’m just curious. =P
(and if anyone’s wondering…yup, WORST. GAMES. EVER. As a FPS it really SUCKS…and as a RPG it’s as good as pins under your fingernails… so yeah, it sucks BIG TIME).

Anywho… Manhunt is a nice addition…although it’s just an average game, and NOT the “jewel” everyone says.

Metro is the best content for me this week…but I’m gonna wait to buy it, because I’m not too comfortable with the whole “developer going out of business” scenario.

    My 2 cents. Peace out.

  • @91 : No, you don’t need to. It’s for everyone. ;)

  • @ Orpheus_Aeons The reason that Dust 514 is showing as coming to the psn store is because It is now just coming out of Beta on the 8th we had a patch to overhaul the game so new graphics and new build looking very nice and the 14th(PS Store update) is when Dust 514 gets it’s full release

  • I’m waiting on Hotline Miami and Lone Survivor. I don’t need them out next week, but a release date would be nice.

  • RPG fans, snag Rune Factory.. It’s the second best rpg in a long time. First being Ni No Kuni of course.

Seriously though.. don’t pass it up.. it’s fantastic.

  • Cant wait for Metro….I bet that game will be the best multiplatform FPS….a difference to the flooded FPS market.

  • Finally, Manhunt, everyone buy one of ps2s best games so hopefully rockstar games will make manhunt 3 for ps4. To blow every game out of the water and all my messaging them to make a new game count for something. Trust me if you like their other games max payne, grand theft auto, red dead redemption you will love manhunt.

  • Oh also cant wait for RE Revelations…that game is looking great…after the biggest disappointment of the century cough RE6 cough…I think I can finally get back on my beloved RE universe.

  • And sony for the love of god start saying when vita releases are if you look at nintendos great nintendo direct videos they show all the games that are coming out, hype them, release videos on the handheld, release pics and release dates with big games coming out each month. This really isnt this hard especially if you gave the indies power to release information, video, apps on the psn store. I love soul sacrifice but there was hardly any marketing or info about it, for what may be vitas best game. Get a ps blog app, or upcoming games app on the vita.
