Soul Sacrifice Out Next Week, New Pre-Order Trailer

Hello, PlayStation friends! We hope you’re enjoying the recently released Soul Sacrifice demo.

Remember — online multiplayer support for the demo will end when the game launches next Tuesday, so if you’ve been curious to see how the infrastructure online handles, check it out sooner rather than later. Just as importantly: your save files carry over to the finished game, and doing so is the only way to get your hands on a special magical Offering, so check out the demo if you haven’t already.

The full game will be out next Tuesday, April 30th, but there’s still time left to pre-order! Instead of yet again writing about all the goodies set aside for folks who reserve their copies, we decided to make a video. Enjoy!

Soul Sacrifice Out Next Week, New Pre-Order Trailer

We’ve got plenty more to share, including the second (and final) part of our special sit-down with designer Keiji Inafune, so stay tuned to PS.Blog!

  • Early next week is when the game launches…we kinda need to know *before* its out and we find out “oops too late you don’t get it”

  • Aram, thanks for acknowledging that Sony is aware of this issue. I understand that your hands may be tied when it comes to revealing details. Whether it’s good news or bad news, I appreciate being kept in the loop.

I will purchase Soul Sacrifice digitally regardless of bonuses. It’s 2013, folks. The last thing I need is more cases to shelve and tiny game cards to keep track of. Now if Sony would just come out with a 64 GB memory card, all would be well. :)

  • I preordered from besf buy canada will i get the pre bonus

  • early next week is already to late, lol.
I want my preorder bonuses for the digital version please.

  • Whatever. I’ll buy digital regardless. While the Japanese VO would be nice it’s not a deal-breaker for me. Neither are the costumes and items for that matter. Still think more information could have been communicated.

  • my psn credit is ready. hehe

  • @99 he say “at this time” as well “its for retail”,, they haven’t announced anything.. what goes on in eu and what said there is not official here….They haven’t announced anything for digital here. This how people lose their job s with gamers twisting of information that gamers do. I understand what your showing and that all good and postive , Im just saying they haven’t announced anything for digtal for usa.. He said stay tuned!!.. I cant go by what goes on in eu// I have go when they announce it officially. As for right it only retail till they say so.

Comparing what going on there(eu) and saying its will be here nothing but a conflict.. people lose their job like that in PR.. I don’t think J A would deserve that.. Because he said nothing wrong or anything at his time for the matter.

  • I wanted to buy digital version too, but since they are not answering if its going to include the preorder bonus I’ve already preordered on a video game shop, don’t want to risk Sony screwing us with a “Sorry but the bonus is only for the actual preorders, and since PS Store didn’t had preorder we can’t give you he bonus”.

Is completely unbelievable that they cant answer a simple Yes/No to this kind of questions about their own shop.

  • I am enjoying the demo and have this on pre-order, One question though if i may.

Why the name change from the Japanese version from this character merlin type of name to magusar in the west, is this due to the view the west have of merlin character generally?

After all merlin would never take anyones soul lol.

  • Awesome, congratulations Kumi!

  • ALLLLLLMOST got a copy today at Target!! I saw it in the display case with a bunch of copies stacked behind it locked away so I asked for an employee to scan it to see if it could be sold right then and there. The lady scanned it with here ginormous remote “thingy” and said ‘yeah i sure can sell it to you today’!! I said to myself this can’t be right but then again, I could be the one wrong about the release date? So she brought it up to the main counter and first scanned my $20 PSN card and then the game itself. The very second she scanned the game, she looked up and said, “you were right, I can’t sell this until 4/30.”

Close but no cigar! : (

  • So many stupid people here. If some of us need to pre order the game digitally is because WE CAN’T pre order the game on those stores, because we don’t live on USA. And EU users got them… it’s unfair we can’t. Period.

  • Why does it seem like there’s always good news about Nintendo 3DS getting more 3rd Japanese exclusives and 1st party games. As a PS Vita fan the only game I can look forward to is this game and a few ports of old games and PS3 games. :( Even the Wii U is getting more support from Nintendo than you are giving the Vita.

Is there even a point to owning the Vita, SCEA producer? I know you’ll never answer this comment and pretend it doesn’t exist but I just feel so jaded at this point, where I even want to sell my Vita.

How could the Sony that used to have tons of third party exclusives in the PS2 days be so irrelevant in so many fronts? Why is it that Japanese third parties only care about the 3DS? Why do you guys do absolutely nothing but twiddle your thumbs and pretend like nothing is wrong with the Vita? Why do you guys care more about grabbing the mythical dude-bro audience that will never buy a Vita over a cell phone?

If you’re the wrong person to ask this to then please send this message over to some one who actually cares about what they do, instead of just doing what they have to do and grabbing a paycheck.

  • At least we got a response, and while a little vague, it at least provides hope that digital copies will indeed come with the preorder dlc. In the future, we should be able to preorder any game that is coming to the vita so that we know for sure we can secure preorder bonus content amongst other things.

  • @107, Nowhere did I say the quote came from EU server. Quotes were from US PSN blog. The EU reference I made at the end is just saying that it was possible to have digital pre-order with bonuses because EU was able to get pre-order. It’s not that its not possible like your saying, just that USA hasn’t chosen to do it YET.?… You were stating “NO!! YOU WONT GET PRE ORDER BONUSEs IF BUY the Digital COPy On PSN ONLY IF BUY IT RETAIL!!<<' " Yet J A posted "The offer(s) aren’t *necessarily* only for retail purchases". The the way they updated us so far they did not specifically say WE WILL NOT DO DIGITAL PRE-ORDER so there is still a chance unlike your post.
I don't think J A should lose his job for giving us that info back at January. But I do think he should be punished for not delivering "we will have more information for you soon." from January. That's (3) months and only (2) other replies were made after by other PR's saying they don't know(gives implication that they aren't looking into it). The lack of follow thru and feeling that it was ignored is what is making me the most upset. With so many people asking about it, they should have been able to get a yes/no or some updates over (3) months.

  • @115 Ok thanks for the clear up. but still he said “at this time” which mean for right now its not here.. Which is point im making.. when I said NO etd etc

Again if Eu is getting digital pre order then you cant expect that here till they say other wise.. Nothing is here right now but physical pre orders.. He never they wont be here nor he did imply it was here.. I said no its not here.. Which is true for today and all information that set in stone for now.. It said its not here, if we want it we’re going wait till next week and see what they say( which a is new info and deal) or go to retail store and buy digital before his announcement next week.

I understand your point and I agree as decifering of what was said. but as for right now nothing is here for digital pre order and JA didn’t mis speak. so the answer I gave that is nothing is here is true. if some want to wait till next week that on those who do.. Im not risking it.

  • So you’ll have more info “early next week” about the digital pre-order of a game that is being released “early next week… That doesn’t make any sense

  • You guys need to relax. I’m willing to bet that they will be offering the pre-order bonuses for digital purchasers for the first week, like they’ve done with a few other games.

  • I suspect that early next week means either the Sunday The Drop post or something on Monday maybe in the PS+ Post? Either way it would have been best communication to say something like “If the Pre-order bonus is something you covet than I would suggest you reach out to one of our retail partners to secure yourself a copy of this wonderful and in demand game.”

  • I just Sacrificed $5 for my pre order blackout phase almost up .

  • Are we going to be able to increase the uses or power of the bonus offerings we get from pre-ordering the game?

  • Just pre-order the physical copy and shut up. Every day it’s a new entitlement for you people. Pretty soon people are going to start demanding Sony pay their overdraft fees and electric bills.

  • I going to keep posting this until I get a response. I want you to let your bosses know that people that live in territories outside of Japan (i.e., North America, Europe, etc.) would like to have the same hardware options that Japan gets, and hardware bundles as well.

What I mean by this is we want more color options for our console than just black and white. Yes, there was a red PS3 with God of War Ascension, but I want to see the Blue, Red, and Silver PS3s made available separately. And I want to see the Red and Blue Vitas (and any other color Japan might get of PS3 and Vita in the future) made available everywhere as well.

Bring the Soul Sacrifice Vita bundle to the rest of the world!

And if nothing else, I want to see all of the stuff Japan gets to come to the U.S. at the very least, but I would like for the world to get more equal treatment. We will buy it if you give it to us.

  • I recently got the $20 from the refer a friend for vita promotion so yeah i am buying soul sacrifice digitally. Would be nice to get the pre order bonus but i dont really care as long as i get the game because its just that awesome lol already but in 25+ hrs into the demo

  • @lisatsunami The Vita outsold the 3DS in Japan thanks to the price drop so it is probably easier to sell systems on a particular game over there then in the US. My sense is that in the US is that the growing strength of the Vita library will sell more units, rather then one amazing game but I would be happy to be proven wrong. If this game sells Vitas it’s fine by me.

  • I want to pre order this game digitally. Was disappointed that there were no pre order option at the PSN Store this week for Soul Sacrifice. I’m also going to buy this 2x for my 2nd PS Vita which my brother will be using. My officemates also wants to have the pre order bonuses. I hope you could include the pre order bonuses for the first week release of Soul Sacrifice for those who want to have the bonuses.

  • Are the pre-orders bonuses specific to certain retailers, or will I receive all of the bonus material regardless of where I pre-ordered my physical copy of the game?

  • @122 (R-O-Ofaliss): Wow, that’s really nice. So according to you, equal treatment for digital and physical buyers is an “entitlement?” That’s a new one. Digital buyers are paying customers just like any other. They’re just choosing to buy from the source rather than a distributor.

  • i know this is off topic but u are a producer at scea so i didnt know where else to ask…..do we have a shot at a western release for senran kagura shinovi versus??????

  • @128 Raging and acting as though they are obligated to provide the pre-order bonus is indeed. Sony really shot themselves in the foot the second they started the whole Day 1 digital. They should have known it would just lead to people on the blog screaming, “Why no Day 1!? Why no offer me that stuff!?”. No different than how now any game that comes out on the PS3 has to be on the Vita and be Cross-Buy. “Why no Cross-Buy!? Me no buy unless give me free game!”.

I’m all for speaking out against bad business practices, but not being able to pre-order something that will not sell out, and not getting pre-order DLC (something that was conceived so people would go out and buy from a retailer), is not a bad business practice. You just want it to be.

  • @112 Do it like i did it myself, I live outside USA but can preorder it from GameStop if you are willing to pay the shipment =)

  • I was reading through these comments and I had to say something in regards to Vita owners being considered the most hardcore PS fans. I completely agree with that statement, however, I’ve got to disagree with the idea that the hardcore audience is so predominantly ‘digital only’. I would argue that the fan who must own physical versions of games could certainly be considered even more dedicated, as building up a tangible collection is quite meaningful to many enthusiasts, and a space is reserved in their living quarters for those items.

Somebody could argue that more of the purchase price goes to Sony through digital purchases, but even so, it’s still important to support retail partners either way.

I’m not defending the lack of information in regards to a digital pre-order though; that’s definitely a problem, and I hope it’s considered in a more timely fashion in the future. All I’m saying is that fans of physical copies are just as, if not more dedicated to the brand.

  • Thank for the heads up.

I am glad that companies are at least allowing demos such as this one., and after a few hours have gotten a better feel for it.

I had seriously thought about this game, but changed my mind after seeing the reviews and how close it seemed to the gameplay of Ragnarok Odyssey.

I have not even had the chance for multiplayer yet.

Not sure if it will be a day one purchase, but may look forward to a sale sometime in the future.

Personally, I have thought Phantasy Star looked to be more towards my gameplay style, and have wondered why the series has not been made available yet.

  • @ 132

    I agree somewhat.

Although digital copies would ensure the support of SOE and not the possible resale of those at some point as a collectible for a commercialized attempt on someones’ memorabilia.

I could still see your point though.

    As for me.
Too many moves, and four children, can easily destroy the order that some adults try to provide over their belongings.
And as I prefer my children over my stuff, SOE has made a great idea a reality.

Instead of supporting my local library ( who charged me late fees, after donating numerous books and movies, while receiving government aid),

I simply support the creators and hope SOE will understand that good business, means exactly that, for those of us that stand behind our names.

  • Anyone know what the price is for the digital download of this game? Thanks in advance.

  • y u cant write a post? u derete a post!
i explain u! pick up red telephone; hello mr president do they get dlc day1? yes no?

  • Honestly thinking about passing on this game now due to the fact that they don’t want to tell us anything. If day 1 digital comes without any of the preorder bonuses or some kind of Day 1 incentive I will more then likely pass and buy something else

  • yes no love, pass game.

  • SOUNDTRACK. WHY NO SOUNDTRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????????????????????????

  • Most likely NO less than $34.99 (USD) as usual for ANY good titles, dooooood.

  • @130 Okay, I’ll give you that. I’m admittedly disappointed, but the way the Vita has been going over the past year I’ve come to expect very little. While I’d like the pre-order bonuses, buying physical games is a hassle for me so I’ll take what I’m given. I do think that digital and physical buyers should receive equal treatment, but yeah it is just wishful thinking and pointless idealism. So while I do feel similarly to the majority of people here (that digital SHOULD receive the pre-order bonuses) at least I realize that whatever route I chose doesn’t mean a darn thing to Sony in the end. We are consumers: a source of profit.

  • @140: Thanks not much difference then from purchasing the physical copy. I thought I could save a few bucks by purchasing it digitally. Thanks again.

  • I mean to say “Thanks so much”… apologies for the typo.

  • i wish sony would drop the price for memory cards

  • GET THIS PREORDER STUFF ON THE DIGITAL VERSION. SOME PEOPLE DONT LIKE RETAIL COPIES, ESPECIALLY ME.

  • AND NO I WILL NOT CALM DOWN. YOU SHOULD ADDRESS THIS AHEAD OF TIME, NOW ITS 3 DAYS LEFT AND WE DONT KNOW IF WE GET THE PREORDER STUFF.

Seriously, the first comment asks whether the digital version gets the preorder stuff or not and said it would be addressed next week. ON such short notice?

WHY DOESN”T VITA GET TO PREORDER GAMES BUT PS3 DOES.

So much for Day 1 digital!

PSVITA gets day 1 digitals but we should be able to preorder games on the vita too for digital copies and retail exclusive dlc.

  • Just went through the comments and I would like to apologize for the tone and manner I spoke in. I thought I would have been the only one outraged at how Sony PR has handled the situation, and am glad I don’t stand alone on this problem.

  • @Gadirok like others have already said, they may give the dlc to digital buyers who buy the game during a certain period of time.

However, on the other hand, the dlc could also be retail exclusive; which makes I guess could make sense as some places (at least Gamestop does) requires you to pay extra to preorder, so it’s almost like paying for day 1 dlc.

But I wonder, if Sony said from the jump that digital buyers wouldn’t get the preorder dlc, would people really pass on such a great game over something that minor? (and that most likely would be available later as regular dlc)

  • 148 gamestop doesn’t make you pay extra, they make you pay a down payment. It’s just so they don’t lose money on a game they thought they were going to sell.

  • @148: I don’t think people would be nearly as upset, as they’d know that to get the pre-order content you need to go physical. As a number of stores have “black-out” dates on pre-orders, this lack of information means that people are forced play the “better safe than sorry” card and buy the physical copy, which many might not even be able to do with such short notice, or risk not getting the bonus content.

And then there are the people like myself that have good reasons to go digital, and this lack of information means we have to assume we aren’t getting the content or risk being disappointed. In my case I’m visually impaired and have difficulty travelling to a game/electronics/general merchandise store, so digital means I can actually get games when they come out instead of waiting for the next available source of transportation. I have also completely lost physical copies of games before, so given the choice I’ll go digital any day. This is why I wish digital users had same treatment as retail with content.
