Soul Sacrifice: Demo Out Today, Saves Transfer to Full Game

Soul Sacrifice on PS Vita

I hope you’re ready for Soul Sacrifice — the demo will be available this afternoon on PSN!

Your first reaction to the demo might be, “Holy moly, this is a LOT of demo!” …And you’d be right! The entire first chapter of the full game is included, all of which is playable with up to three other friends via online or ad-hoc multiplayer. Inafune-san made it a special point for the demo to be quite substantial, as you can read in his comments below:

“The number one reason for the Soul Sacrifice demo to have a lot of content was to show the users the full attraction of Soul Sacrifice. We knew that cutting out a small section of the game and saying, ‘Isn’t this part fun?’ would not show the users the full potential of the game. We figured that it wouldn’t make sense if the users could not have the ‘I want to play more’ feeling.

“So, we decided we want to provide, ‘at the very least,’ this amount of the game for the users. That is why, if you compare it to a standard demo, this became such a substantial piece. But we are confident that this will not become something negative where the users will feel like, ‘We played enough.’ After we released the demo version in Japan we received many voices, saying ‘[I] want to play more’ and ‘I want to get more hooked on this game.’ That is why we believe making this demo with this amount of volume and detail was a success.”

Soul Sacrifice is a long adventure, with dozens of hours of gameplay. The demo is not only a great way to sample the full experience, but also to let you get a head start on that adventure before the game releases. To that end — this part is important, pay attention! — the save data will carry over to the full game! Not only that, if you do carry over demo save data to the full game, you will receive an exclusive bonus item: “Spirits’ Heart”! It summons a powerful stone golem that will fight for you!

Trying the demo and carrying over your save data is the ONLY way to get “Spirits’ Heart,” so why not give it a shot if you’re already interested in the game?

The Soul Sacrifice demo offers a single player mode AND a multi-player mode. Multi-player can be played via both ad-hoc and online, but please be aware that multi-player and all online features for the demo will be terminated and will no longer be available on April 30th, 2013. After this date, you will still be able to play the demo offline and ad-hoc. Of course, that’s not a problem, since you’ll all be picking up the full game when it launches on April 30th, right? *wink*

Don’t forget to pre-order! Not only do you get three exclusive Magic Offerings and two exclusive costumes, but you’ll also get the Japanese voice-over audio pack for free!

  • cmon yall lets shoot for 10000, 8103

  • Confirmed, this game is overrated, seriouly guys.

  • This is the record.

SS is a bit overrated now. But after chapter 6 everything changes.

  • until now, SS is the best game for VITA. my opinion,

  • I went on the 16th looking for the demo… nowhere to be found. And on 17th. And I hope I find it today.
AND LETS GET THIS OVER 9000!

  • @8106 Vita doesnt have a lot of games, unfortunately

  • @wait-4-meh

I don’t think its overrated at all. I think it could do with a lot more attention

  • Got mine up I’m mostly healer and support add: Vlad19931

  • I kept second guessing myself whether or not to sacrifice

  • Hey guys, let´s use this space to make reviews about the game and gather information!

  • Why is Cerberus so hard?

  • Just dipped my toes into multiplayer with a quick match. Man, this is fun.

  • If this reaches 9000 I will download this demo.
If not then more blood on Obama’s hands.

  • You don’t understand. This demo was so long, that i thought some idiot at sony accidentally uploaded the full game instead of the demo to the store(unlikely i know). and when i unlocked multiplayer, i lost it! but nope it was a demo. but very nice. at the beginning i wasnt all that interested, but the length of it…i got hooked after a while. :) best demo evar!

  • @thrillwell

    Thats not Funny…

  • When is this coming out in the psn store? I want to buy this game online! Hopefully its put in the day it first comes out.

  • becoz of level cap, the cerberus is so difficult to beat. almost impossible solo?

  • Game is pretty good.

  • Leveling up the sacrafice level…

  • The whole grinding for magic is pretty fun ….

  • So, I’ve been saving far more than I’ve been sacrificing. In multiplayer, would this mean I’d make a better tank character?

  • A divine mage is the best tank/heal/support, yeah.

I built a dark arm IV mage and when I first beat the Cerberus with a skilled party, I felt so happy from that achievement and the nicer lightning spells!

  • its pretty good i must admit…..preordered today!

  • Yeah i am leaning towards buying…..

  • this game is awesome!!!,the online play has no lag the was suprised to me.the first perfect game for ps vita!!

  • Gosh i am enjoying grinding the jack o lantern level…

  • Heres a tip…some spells you can hold the button in for a more powerful version..

  • Woahhhhh slow down down with that perfect….lol

  • Darn fun demo. Haven’t even maxed out all my spells yet.
And yea, Cerberus does not mess around. It’s very hard but extremely fun and rewarding, only because of the level cap. I feel in the full game, being higher level will take away from that.

  • Cerberus is kick my tail……

  • @8125
You’ve done the world proud! (6-*u*)9

  • Gets better as you play…

  • I wonder how op we’ll be once we start up chapter 2…
especially with massive reserves up spells to upgrade past the demo’s limit

  • Ive been wondering that too. Im getting almost everything up to 3 stars already. Dropped Cerberus a couple times (takes a good group to pull it off). I have something like 20 hours into it so far and still not sick of it. Need the full game to hurry up and appear!

At first I was a bit disappointed by the lack of customization, but now that I’ve learned how all the mechanics work, man was I wrong. There’s a ton of depth in how you can build yourself up. Love it.

  • Yes! I’m bad at setting up stats, so I’m just going to improve my heal the most I can when the boost cap goes away, then focus on a melee, homing, ranged, heavy hitter, and shield/evade (depending on boss).
I really like the blitz spells, as you don’t really get hurt while chaining it. Although, the opening where you fall after your combo is a problem if not careful. The mortars egg shells help when no one is meleeing the cerberus and you can’t afford getting close.
I hate how lock-on cancels and doesn’t restart after a ranged spell, though. It makes accurate dodging difficult for me…
I love counter killing mobs. Makes it quick, easy, and efficient.

  • What amazes me is how many new spells I see from people that I dont have. We’re all stuck at about the same level grinding the same stuff, but I still keep seeing new spells I didn’t know existed from people. Shows how much more depth is there than what it first appears.

  • You get ones not listed in the rewards as a bonus from being a sacrifice. Well, not always. You do get a bonus spell though, along with those points that determine your rank of completing the stage.

  • Hey when u boost ur spells and the cast goes up for your spell what does that mean?

  • You get one more use before it exausts. after the boost cap on the demo goes away (by playing the full game) you can eventually go from spell(s) to spell(m), which will reset the casts to it’s original (at least the one i wanted to boost), but the effects will go up.

    IE: instant heal plant:
    (s)3*= cast 8 power 100
    (s)3* –> (m)0* = cast 5 power 130

  • I want to see over 9k!

  • Librom is totally tsundere.
Someone should make a ‘cute-sy’ art style anime pic of sorcerer hugging Librom, who’s produced ‘droplets.’
I think it’d make plenty of laughs.

  • Oh I know where those spells are coming from, I just think it’s cool that there’s so many different ones in there, that even with all the time I’ve put in being limited by the demo, new stuff still pops up. Which makes me even more excited to see how much is crammed into the full game.

  • I’d like to get my hands on some venom affinity spells, myself~

  • @ Fraitheart

    wasn’t meant to be funny

Obama is joke president who lets anyone into the country and then acts
    mad when they bomb people.

  • I have some venom stuff, but very little. It doesn’t drop much so what I do have is base level. I’m trying to collect enough to level it up but its slow going.

  • Crud… Can’t join multiplayer. I always receive an error NW-2301-6…

  • sony and errors
    peanut butter and jelly

  • I am just glad that this game is freaking addictive! I can’t wait to get the whole version! Has anyone beaten the wolf dude yet?
