The Drop: Week of February 18th 2013 New Releases

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance takes the renowned Metal Gear franchise into exciting new territory by focusing on delivering an all-new action experience unlike anything that has come before. Combining world-class development teams at Kojima Productions and PlatinumGames, Metal Gear Rising brings two of the world’s most respected teams together with a common goal of providing players with a fresh synergetic experience that combines the best elements of pure action and epic storytelling, all within the expansive MG universe. Enjoy this week’s The Drop.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Developed through a partnership with Platinum Games and Kojima Productions, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance pits cyborg against cyborg in battle that blazes past every human limit!

The main character, Raiden, was once feared as the child soldier “Jack the Ripper” on the front lines of the First Liberian Civil War. Now, his combat mastery is channeled through a cyborg body as the strikes from his high-frequency blade slice even massive assault drones in two. Raiden is contracted for VIP protection, military training and other duties by PMSCs (Private Military and Security Companies) in a developing country piecing itself back together after a bloody civil war. Little does he know that the stage is set for a clash with an enigmatic force of countless cyborgs.

Crysis 3 — Crysis 3 is a First-Person Shooter set within a frightening future New York City. The game is a sequel to the 2011 release, Crysis 2, continuing an unfolding adventure revolving around the symbiotic relationship between the wearer of the game’s iconic nanosuit, the current protagonist, and the memories of an earlier protagonist stored within the suit. Game features include sandbox shooter gameplay that allows players to choose their path, an upgradable nanosuit, expanded multiplayer options, an explosive arsenal of weapons, and improved graphics provided by the CryENGINE game engine.

Capcom Arcade Cabinet: Retro Game Collection — Capcom Arcade Cabinet offers you many of the greats from the Capcom gaming vaults all in one place. Browse through a library of classic games, now loaded with special features that extend the gaming fun. A “casual mode” geared towards newcomers and less score-minded players lets first-time gamers discover Capcom’s greats. Or, if you are a hardcore gamer, take on players from around the world in “score attack” and even play together in select titles that support online co-op!

Urban Trial Freestyle (Also for PS Vita) — A motorcycle stunt game, Urban Trials brings players to abandoned districts of a city where speed, agility and ability to improvise are the key to massive scores.

Demos

  • Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3
  • Urban Trial Freestyle (PS3 & PSVita)

PlayStation Portable

Generation of Chaos 3: Pandora’s Reflection — Dark clouds blanket the withered skies and block out the sun; cracked earth and choking fog rule the land. This colorless world, showing no signs of life, is known as Hades. The barren land is blasted by chilling winds that cut to the bone … This is where we meet our heroes — Yuri, a young girl cursed with a disease draining her life away; and Claude, her protective older brother who will stop at nothing to save her. As they travel in search of a cure, they find themselves embroiled in a conflict that will determine the fate of the world and, just maybe, the fate of the siblings. They’ll lose old friends, meet new friends, and travel on a path that will lead them to the very doorstep of destiny…

Hakuoki: Warriors of the Shinsengumi — After 260 years of samurai rule, the shogunate’s hold on the country began to weaken as men ostensibly loyal to the emperor began to sow chaos and dissent throughout the nation. The Shinsengumi was formed to combat this rising tide of violence, and to protect the shogun and the people from dangerous ronin. As the country inches close to all-out war, Chizuru travels to Kyoto to find her missing father. She encounters both danger and the Shinsengumi, in quick succession. After learning that the Shinsengumi are also looking for her father, Chizuru goes under their protection. However, they soon find themselves in the midst of political intrigue, supernatural power struggles, and much more as they search desperately for the answer they need.

  • Pretty strong releases this week except for that Naruto demo. Seriously, NOBODY wants that, and I mean NOBODY. Totally.

Gonna have to look into what games are on the Capcom Collection…

    Urban Freestyle looks fun too.

  • WHAT ABOUT ALL PS2 GAMES IN PS VITA

  • Would rather see a Dark Cloud HD Bundle, rather than a Kingdom Hearts HD…

  • Can we PLEASE know when exactly Rising is being put on PSN? Is it a Day 1 Digital?

  • RISING WILL NOT BE A DIGITAL RELEASE OBVIOUSLY

  • Awesome week!!! can’t wait for Metal Gear Rising and the 20th!

  • cool i’ll prob pick up both the capcom arcade cabinet and urban trails freestyle.

any word on Terraria? maybe coming out next week? i heard it was due to release in Feb.

  • Anything on sale?

  • Games I want to see on PSN :
    Heavy Rain
    God of War 3
    Silent Hill HD Collection
    Silent Hill Downpour

I will be posting this every week until you get these games on PSN.

  • Blood Knights release date 2/20/13?

  • I agree with tiamatvisionaire as far as bringing it, what wasn’t said is Dark Cloud HD Bundle is really all you guys need to be working on. Everything else does not matter.

  • After a year wasted, why you still don’t have a Pacman game for the Vita? What’s wrong with you? 3DS has it.

  • Wooo I need to try the Naruto’s demo!!!

  • i’m really lookin forward to Metal Gear Rising, just pre-ordered this weekend & can’t wait to play, I honestly have my doubts cuz its not developed by Kojima Productions but I wanna enjoy the most of it

  • CRYSIS3!! Here I Come Baby!!!!!!

  • OMGOMGOMG!!!

    FFX for Vita is real!
    Did you guys see that?

  • Nice to see new PSP releases! My only lament is that, while their visual style appeals to me (“Wee-a-boo, Wee-A-Boo! …”), they’re not plain ol’ JRPG fare, but SRPG and hack-&-slash. Still, glad to see more stuff of that ol’ stylistic bend.

  • No DBZ Tenkaichi? Shame, just a shame.

  • You never know, kingdom hearts could still be in the release. There is usually a few games not mentioned ahead of time. You never know.

But really. Boring drop for me. I’ve been getting into games i’d never finished and its keeping me entertained and my wallet full.

And really, im not spending anymore until this ps4 rumor gets put to rest one way or another.

  • Weak drop, all about the PS4 this week!

  • Huge fan of Metal Gear, but I hate hack ‘n slash games, so I’m afraid I won’t be getting that. Hope others enjoy it.

I am interested in Urban Trial Freestyle though, so I’ll definitely give that a go.

  • Gotta say, MGR looks sick. I really need to pick that up one day soon.

  • I want a pdf reader in my psvita, please…

  • @! KH 1.5 HD is out in Japan March 14. Also it seems Bloodknights is for the Xbox right now along with Behemoth’s upcoming game BBT. Does Sony even care what we get anymore?

  • Crysis 3 for me. Been burned too many times by Konami to justify another purchase of their games. Yu-Gi-Oh! will be the only thing.

  • Fantastic week for games. I’m a big fan of the Metal Gear series

I wish this game was PS3 exclusive though

  • Loving the MGR demo, but the striders that go moo are tough. I really need to learn how to block successfully to get further in this game.

  • Will Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance be available on PSN anytime soon?

  • I am totally stoked for the NARUTO SHIPPUDEN ULTIMATE NINJA STORM 3 demo,it’s a small taste before I get the game next month!

  • no cross buy for urban trial freestyle is really stupid

  • Naruto Storm 3 demo….here I come baby I can’t wait I really really can’t wait…will buy Crysis 3 later.

@ 48 Junoh315 – Ha yeah I just remembered Gintama too and I had to laugh as well…but mostly because Shinsengumi is very funny.

  • So will MGS Rising be digital download on psn release day?

  • fun fact: sony was attacked yesterday. the attackers had gun attachments on thier wiimotes. they also stole a lot of data. some of it including what was going to give us more vita games. for example, our ps1/psp/(and top secret)ps2 games that were coming are now gone. it was tragic…

  • Metal Gear Rising and Generation of Chaos 3 FTW!!

  • Huh? When will Craah and Kingdom Hearts ever go on the PS Vita?

  • The PSP continues to outsell the Vita in Japan, so of course it’s getting games there, which then filter over to the West very slowly.

I don’t think there is anything on the Vita for localization companies to bring over. And niche games are far less viable on the Vita because cartridges cost a lot more to make then optical media.

If Sony wants to do something about the Vita, they should support it themselves. Sony Japan published funded like a dozen Japanese RPGs for the PSP. For the Vita, they don’t seem to have done anything except the disappointing Gravity Rush

  • A Soul Sacrifice demo release would be nice on the US network.

  • HATED the Metal Gear Rising demo. Easy pass on all accounts for me. Would do the capcom arcade if it were Vita compatible. So many wasted opportunities by game makers, but on the plus side, saves me a ton of money!

  • @24
Because PSP is still flourishing in Japan. There are many great games still coming out on PSP. Now that the PSP is dead in America it is really cheap to port games, there are still a few games on PSP I would like ported.
    1. Shining Ark
    2. Sword Art Online
    3. Fate Extra CCC
    4. Summon Night 5
And Type-0 SE said when the time is right they would like to bring it.

@dragon_night nobody cares and asking here will do nothing. Sony has nothing to do with Square-Enix of Japan and your constant bickering is annoying and no one here cares nor will Sony ever care what you think.

  • 3 hours until crysis 3 comes out on Psn network!

  • 12:58am an still no crysis…no surprise after all its the lamestation an its always so hard for em to update there dumb store. first an last time i ever do there pre-order crap

  • @92 You’re kidding, right?

The PS Store is never updated at midnight.
You’re lucky if you see it before 4pm CST.

  • hahaha i was actually waiting for dragon_knight’s post..you went too early today lol

  • I still say Fallout 3 for PSN

  • @94 it came out at 12:14 am
