I don’t think we will see the PS4 released this year, though. 2014 for sure.

They announce the PS4 this month.
Show the PS4 off at E3 in June.
Then they make people’s heads explode when they reveal that “next-gen” titles were already shown at E3 last year, without anyone even realizing it. (Beyond Two Souls, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, Watch_Dogs, Star Wars 1313, etc.)

PS3 sucked really bad compared to the PS and PS2. PS3 only has a handfull of excellent JRPGs. Not a fan of modern casual QTE linear watered down games that are catered to the Angry Birds crowd (Ass Creed, CoD, Uncharted, DmC, modern Resident Evil, NG3, etc.). Games this gen have just sucked. No memorable Sony character mascots, and Nintendo continue to pwn your company, and they always will.

In an instant, I find myself in an alternate universe where a UN Atomic Oversight agent (IAEA) is telling me about aliens and atomic bombs.
Ok WAR0979, I think you should research these things before you start talking about them. You don’t have to upgrade to a new disc format to release a new console. There are many other factors involved. Like processing power, ram, and hdd space. And the consoles are WAY behind the PC in basically every respect. That is why a new console would really be a good thing. And I think that if it is reasonably priced it would be successful.

The PS4/ORBIS will be similar to the steam box dynamic, but 4K cloud gaming & media streaming. With less emphasis on a physical media drive, greater emphasis on CPU/GPU/RAM performance?
Already upgraded to current gen with WiiU and 3DS.
I have no need for SuckStation 4 / CasualStation 4 / Pewpew ShooterStation 4. Instead I’m going with the company that keeps on providing the best funnest games, unlike Sony does these days. WTF happened to Sony? The PS3 library is so inferior to PS, PS2 and Nintendo systems.

I’m sorry but if it’s PS4 I won’t be buying, I just bought my PS3 3 years ago and it has much life still in it and many games to yet to be played. I don’t see how a new console is going to help out Sony when they are failing in the business of making money?!?! You need to work on software not hardware, the PS3 is a very powerful machine and I believe there is still much more that can be done with it and it would be very said to see a company give up and move on to another console, what happened to the 10 year life cycle? I don’t know I just think my PS3 is still brand new but hey maybe I’m wrong, I just know I won’t be forking out hundreds of dollars on another new console and starting all over once again. I prefer physical media. I am not advocating for a digital transition. 95% of my game purchases have been physical media, save for a rare few indie developers I want to support that can not afford physical publishing.
But the consumer base has been consistently endorsing the download format. Sony customers, Microsoft customers, Steam customers. It is happening whether we want it or not.
And with Sony buying GAIKAI and unveiling the 4K format, it is inevitable.
PC & NIntendo will probably be the last hold-outs. And they may hold onto a sizable market share if they do.
I am 50;50 on including a lot of comedy in a game this one but I own 30 games digital including Ni No Kuni recommend it to any one who has PS3 many jaw to the floor moments and this mastery os only on PS3

4K doesn’t require new type of media just upgraded existing media so did VITA and many others
A blu-ray drive cannot handle a non-compressed 4k file stream. This has been established. A compressed 4K stream is not a 4K stream.
4K upconvert ≠ 4K HD ULTRA
