The Drop: Week of December 3rd 2012 New Releases

On PS3 and as a full digital download on PSN, travel beyond the reach of civilization and find a lawless island ruled by violence. This is where you find yourself stranded, caught in a bloody conflict between psychotic warlords and indigenous rebels. Discover the island’s dark secrets and take the fight to the enemy; improvise and use your environment to your advantage; and outwit its cast of ruthless, deranged inhabitants. Beware the beauty and mystery of this island of insanity… You’ll need more than luck to escape alive in Far Cry 3.

Also on PS3 and PSN, BioWare’s award-winning sci-fi trilogy is bundled together for the first time in this compilation from Electronic Arts. Equal parts role-playing and third-person shooter, the series features squad-based combat as protagonist Commander Shepard travels across multiple galaxies in a starship while making a name for the human race. In each game player’s choices impact the entire storyline as save files can be transferred between games.

Enjoy this week The Drop.

Far Cry 3

(Also on PSN) — Beyond the limits of civilization lies an island, a lawless place ruled by piracy and human misery, where your only escapes are drugs or the muzzle of a gun. This is where you find yourself, trapped in a place that’s forgotten right from wrong, a place that lives by the principles of violence.

In Far Cry 3, players step into the shoes of Jason Brody, stranded on this mysterious tropical island. You dictate how the story unfolds, from the battles you choose to fight down to the allies or enemies you make along the way. Slash, sneak, detonate and shoot your way across the island in a world that has lost all sense of right and wrong. You’ll need more than luck to survive.

Resistance Collection — The Resistance collection packs together all three console releases in the Resistance first-person shooter series. featured are Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, and Resistance 3. Also included in The collection are downloadable content packs for Resistance 2 and 3, including the Aftermath Pack and skin bundle from Resistance 2 and the Brutality and Survival Packs from Resistance 3.

Mass Effect Trilogy (Also on PSN) — Experience all three award-winning Mass Effect titles with the Mass Effect Trilogy. This action-packed RPG saga follows the rise of Commander Shepard from Alliance Marine to becoming the galaxy’s most elite soldier — the only soldier who can lead an all-out galactic war against an ancient alien race known as the Reapers.

Heart-pounding action meets gripping interactive storytelling as players decide how their unique story unfolds over all three games. With a team of loyal soldiers at their side, each player decides how they will save the galaxy, from the weapons and abilities they utilize to the relationships they forge or break.

UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune

(PS Vita) — Uncharted: Fight For Fortune is an action-adventure turn-based card game featuring the heroes and villains from the Uncharted universe. The core gameplay in Uncharted: Fight for Fortune involves creating a team of Faction cards featuring heroes, villains, and mercenaries from the Uncharted universe, then using that team to defeat your opponent while defending yourself from their attacks. Each Faction card can be equipped with powerful Resource and valuable Fortune cards, which enhance their stats and give them special abilities. Once you’ve selected and equipped a card, it’s time to head into battle! During combat, attacks either reduce the health of opposing Faction cards or the health of your opponent. Defeating an opposing Faction card removes it from play, while reducing the health of your opponent to zero wins you the game.

This downloadable game connects up with the hit PlayStation Vita game Uncharted: Golden Abyss for players who want to further expand their card set. Using the 300 artifacts that can be found within Golden Abyss, you can go to battle with other players as well as AI opponents. The game can also be played independently of Golden Abyss, so owning the PS Vita title is not required.

Mass Effect — Set 200 years in the future in an epic universe, Mass Effect places gamers in a vast galactic community in danger of being conquered by a legendary agent gone rogue. A spectacular new vision from legendary developers BioWare, Mass Effect challenges players to lead a squad of freedom fighters as they struggle against threatening armies to restore peace in the land.

Mass Effect is the first in a trilogy of games with an overarching story. As the first human Specter – sworn defenders of galactic peace – your mission is to halt the advancing armies of a legendary agent gone rogue. But as you lead your elite team across hostile alien worlds, you will discover the true threat is far greater than anyone imagined.

Page Chronica — Page Chronica mixes vibrant 2D platforming with vexing word puzzles. As well as guiding the main character Topaz through enchanted storybook worlds, players have to collect the magical alphabet floating about. Collecting and rearranging letters into words correctly lets Topaz unleash spells and attacks, which she can use to take out the evil infesting the stories.

Rotastic — In Rotastic, navigating each course is quite simple – press any button to hook your rope to the nearest anchor point, spin around, gather momentum and release the button to fly from point to point.

While the controls are dead-simple, Rotastic features a wide range of levels and gameplay to challenge your skills! Various goals include collecting gems, escaping deadly traps, battling other players, smashing bricks, perfecting acrobatics, smashing chickens and flying through speed-runs! The solo campaign features nearly 70 levels, offering hours of swing ‘n’ fling fun. Replayability is another big feature; do you have what it takes to earn a gold helmet on each course? Pit your skills against your friends around the world by competing in the leaderboard challenges!

Under Defeat HD Deluxe Edition — Classic shoot ‘em up title Under Defeat lifts off in high definition and with a host of upgrades. Take to the skies to avert the oncoming war and protect the possibility of peace in the empire. Rumbling tank suspensions, massive explosions and dark clouds of smoke, the new HD version presents a further refined iteration of the original with improved artwork, textures and shadowing.

Guardians of Middle-Earth — A shadow grows over Middle-earth as the greatest armies of the Third Age prepare for the coming battle. Take up arms in the clash over Middle-earth with the most powerful heroes from the greatest fantasy epic of all time.

Inspired by The Lord of the Rings saga, Guardians of Middle-earth brings up to 10 players together in five versus five competitive multiplayer battle arenas in the epic setting of Middle-earth. The game offers more than 20 iconic guardians, including Gandalf, Sauron, Gollum, Thráin and many more, for players to control in player versus player (PVP) matches. Gamers will have the ability to connect with other players via an in-game voice communication system, as well as access to a comprehensive online stat and leader board system where they can track friends’ victories and defeats, and more.

DJMAX TECHNIKA TUNE (PS Vita) — A one of a kind music gaming experience built from the ground up for the PS Vita. Based on the hit arcade experience, players use the PS Vita touch screen to interact with a wide variety of songs from all genres. Players are rewarded for continuous play with loads of hidden content including videos, OST tracks, new songs to play, and even a gallery full of images which give insight on into the creation of the game. • well uhm a lot of classics this week… but not one I’ve ever heard of. Look guys I understand that you want to release more than just popular games on there but occasionally you need to release a classic that really IS a classic. There are way too many great games that have been omitted from the PS Store for too long

  • @Cyb3rfr34k-iso

    Awesome. Thanks so much!

  • Are we REALLY getting Zanac X Zanac, or is that going up on Japanese PSN and y’all screwed up?

  • Looks like Mass Effect 1 and Ni No Kuno demo are the only interesting things for me this week. Wonder about the PS Vita Plus deal this week.

  • Mass Effect 1! I’ve been waiting for this since it came out on X360. I’m planning on replaying the entire trilogy on PS3 as soon as this game comes out (already finished ME2 and 3 about 3 times each). First I’ll platinum ME1, then move on with my character to the other games, and finish by beating ME3 on Insanity and getting my final ME3 trophy.

Already got Farcry 3 on Steam, but I’ll be checking out DJMAX, Uncharted: FFF, NI NO KUNI demo and whatever else interesting that pops up on Tuesday not listed here.

I’m digging this update so far.

  • btw, who thought it would be a great idea to make the next Uncharted a lazy card game?

  • @ icurafuse #47/52

You’ve never played any of the Resistance games?

I envy you, you get to experience the greatness of R1, but I pity you, having to play 2, and then I half-envy you, playing through the mostly-redemptive 3

  • @ Ryumoau

Lets hold off on saying it sucks until we are sure it sucks, lets not forget, Metal Gear Ac!d turned out to be pretty awesome, it’s POSSIBLE the uncharted winds up being fun

  • @ Ryumoau, its only $5, quit your whining. I’ll be picking it up for $5 I’m not going to complain about it being a card game. Again, the entitlement on here from some people is so annoying.

  • NI NO KUN demo. Looking forward to that.

  • Ni No demo? Yes PLZ!!!

  • Um where is Hungry Giraffe? I really wish it was available in the Playstation Classics already… it’s so much better than every game on here… It’s innovative… creative.. and the best video game trailer I have ever watched.

Please….Hungry Giraffe free for PS Plus users. You are fools if this does not happen…

  • is Mass Effect 1 a standalone purchase than? I have the other two, just need the first one to make it complete!

  • don´t want to create a debate, but I will love that you gave us this month the same game that europe is going to have…..

I will love to play Batman Arkham City with my plus supscription

    Best Regars

  • @FreshRevenge
you can purchase it for $14.99

  • *sigh* Y U no make more Vita games?!?

  • Thanks a bunch. I was just waiting for this! I know Bioware said it would be a standalone but on her it just shows Trilogy so I was just making sure!

  • *Rolls eyes at the uncharted game*
I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt but… *sigh* … Is there a story to it or is it just the cards?

  • NI NO KUNI DEMOOOO! WOW! Can we expect a Day 1 Digital release for that too, or at least on psn sometime after release?

  • To the people wanting to know why Kingdom Hearts isn’t on the list for PS2 classic is because SE is making an HD collection for it

  • Uncharted blah, blah, blah some DJ game blah, blah- Ni No Kuni… NI NO KUNI!!!!!!!

  • Ni No Kuni Demo SWEET!

  • @32 I an with you! That and an awesome game for PS Vita and I’ll instantly renew! (not that I’m not going to do it of course, I love PS+)

  • Ni No Kuni demo pretty much makes this week.

    Can’t wait!~

  • @shb23
Thanks, I have a plan of playing all the great PS3 games throughout 2013. I’ve lined up, Uncharted Trilogy, Resistance trilogy, demon’s soul, infamous 1+2, Journey, Yakuza 3 + 4 (maybe 1 + 2), God of War saga.

I’m aiming to complete a big one every few weeks or so, along with PlayStation plus distractions and Vita cross-play titles.

  • Dear Playstation,

How about put the Dot.Hack games and Final Fantasy 10 on PSN Store? (insert price here) and take my credit card :)

  • I can buy ME1 from the store separately right?

  • PS3 Mass Effect? Yusss I want it noooow but Christmas…ugh D:

  • Sweet, I’ve been waiting for TECHNIKA TUNE.

  • I’m happy about Zanac X Zanac, being a vertical SHMUP fan and all! Is it gonna be $5.99?

  • I hope Guilty Gear is still–realizing not all things are mentioned–
WAIT WHAT, Ni No Kuni DEMO!! ZOMGS, why you no tell us? Will demo have dual audio as well?
    I hope GG is $15 :)

  • @76
FFX is already in the making in HD for PS3 and Vita.

  • @icurafuse

that is a solid line-up, don’t neglect Killzone, even w/o the multiplayer it’s a good FPS witha good story.

If you don’t mind, may I suggest these lesser-known, but PS3 exclusive good games, all of which can be found very cheap…Heavenly Sword, Folklore, & Valkyria Chronicles

  • after the Holiday Sale.. Ni No Kuni, Dead Space 3, Metal Gear Rising, God of War Ascension, Beyond (for my 23rd Bday), Killzone Mercenary and wrap it up with The Last of Us &/or Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes depending on the time (then video game retirement thank you Sony for soon to be 15years of gaming for me).

  • When are we ever going to get Ape Escape as a psone classic. T^T

  • Id like to see final fantasy 5 be approved for the vita, it works on psp and ps3, can we get it set for vita so we have complete final fantasy sets.

Also, as far as ps 1 & 2 classics on ps3
    Legend of lunar 1
legend of lunar 2 eternal blue
    .hack sign
    .hack gu

    :)

  • Excellent drop. I eagerly await when you release Command and conquer red alert retaliation. I think it would be perfect on the go for the vita :) Got robbed a few months back and haven’t replaced my ps3 :/

  • cmon, get sims 2 or battlefront 2 as ps2 classics and take away my social life already…

  • HEY! SONY, WHERE IS THIS KINGDOM HEARTS EVERYONE IS ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT!? Please keep that garbage off PSN. Ty, Sony bby xx <3 Btw, y'all should really stop putting those terrible PS2 classics in the store. There are plenty of good PS2 games that you could put in there, and I'm tired of not seeing them. Oh, and one more thing.. You guys should really organize the store a little bit better. That's all. :)

  • well Far Cry 3 be on PSN on release date or a later time ?

  • @89 You don’t like the game, that’s fine. But you don’t have to call it garbage because of that. Learn some manners. There are more people that disagree with you than the ones that agree.

  • @90, It will be there on the release date, but just not 1st thing in the morning. Sometime around 5 your time it should be in there.

  • Hoestly where is wake up club for psvita US?

  • Honestly*

  • So glad there’s a NNK demo for those of us on the fence (support the devs, people!), but I’m not going to spoil my experience; I’ll wait till my Collector’s Ed arrives. (=

I’m jumping on DJ Max & Uncharted… Far Cry 3 later in the month & maybe that LotR title.

  • NI NO KUNI demo!!! Awesome. The screenshots for this game look AMAZING. Can’t wait to play it.

Great demos for Tuesday. I also want to play the demo for LBP Karting (liked the beta) and Guardians of Middle Earth. But those will have to wait another day. NI NO KUNI will be downloaded first!

And may download the PS+ game too. Have to wait & see what it is.

In any case, thanks in advance for the great demos! :)

  • @shb23

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I really enjoyed VC2 on my PSP, so I will give it a go. I’m not much of a multiplayer gamer, so killzone may be perfect. I must try it before Killzone mercenaries comes out for Vita early next year. I’m, a little careful about folklore and Heavenly sword given the reviews, but they both look like unique Sony games I’ll not find on the other consoles.

  • @93, vax- IMO, the urgency isn’t there to localize it. I don’t blame Sony at all. Remember that it’s a FREE app, & not a system seller by any means. The devs probably split & went into game development & left a couple of engineers to work on porting Wake Up Club to the US & EU regions. It’s coming, though not around the corner so to speak.

  • @alvarorugam I agree with you , i think we from us are going to get another old game.

  • Thank you #98 It was just I havent heard any news sense april.
