Hello PlayStation Nation! I hope you’re a fan of PlayStation Plus and free video games, because you may have just hit the mother lode. We’ve been working tirelessly with our friends at Capital One to put together a special PlayStation Card offer for our community, and I’m excited to finally share the details. For a limited time, new cardholders will get a 12 month subscription to PlayStation Plus AND a $50 PlayStation Network code after first purchase (and yes, before you ask, the 12 month PlayStation Plus subscription extends the membership further if you are already a Plus member).
As you might recall, last year we launched the PlayStation Card – a credit card designed specifically for our PlayStation community. With it cardholders get:
- 10x points on ALL PlayStation Network purchases
- 3x points on ALL PlayStation and Sony purchases at Sony stores and Sony.com
- 3x points at quick service restaurants, movie theaters and on your mobile phone bill
- 1x points on all other purchases
And now, on top of the points you can earn, new cardholders will receive a 12 month PlayStation Plus subscription and a $50 PSN Code after first PlayStation Card purchase. With PlayStation Plus, you get:
- An Instant Game Collection, which grants you access to a library of blockbuster games like inFAMOUS 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Borderlands, and many more.
- Exclusive early access to select game betas and demos
- 1GB of cloud storage to save games online
- Full game trials
- Discounts on select PlayStation Store purchases
- Automatic PS3 updates
And, once you receive the $50 PlayStation Network code with this offer, you can spend those fifty bucks however you please on the PlayStation Network!
When you combine the discounts you can take advantage of as a PlayStation Plus member, the $50 PSN code you can get to spend on the PlayStation Network, and the 10x points you earn from using your PlayStation Card in the PlayStation Store, you’re looking at some serious benefits.
This is the first time we’ve been able to put together such a special offer, and it’s our way of saying “thank you” for being such an awesome community!

I’m kindof annoyed about this, in that I just made my biggest purchase ever on PSN — a pre-order, so I don’t even have it yet — when if I had waited a day I could’ve gotten 10x points by using the new card.
Just got approved with a $500 limit!!! Can’t wait to get an extra free year of PS+!!!
Ok I was gonna apply but then Again Puerto Rico its out of the plan AGAIN…. ooh what a surprise….
I’m really upset I didn’t get approved even though I don’t have bad credit. Looks like I’ll be spending less money on PSN for awhile. Sucks for them.
APPROVED!! YES!! :D after the first purchase how can i get the psn and ps+ code??
Approved, got card, made purchase (on PSN of course)…..anyone know how long it takes to get the e-mail for the $50 credit & PS+ extension?
I applied for this card before and was denied. I can’t remember what the reason was. However, afterwards Capital One kept sending me pre-approved credit card offers (NON Playstation ones) but I never replied to those. Glad I didn’t cause I tried again when the PS plus offer popped up and I got approved. My credit limit is higher than I expected, however my APR is 19.9 percent which for me is a little high.
how do i apply psn card
i dont live in the same country as the one where i created my PSN account. What can you do for people like me ?
So those of us with the card already are pretty much S.O.L.? bah
I am honestly quite irritated about this. It seems I’m not the only person who is being denied for the card, despite having solid credentials. What’s the deal? This is only hurting Sony in the long run, because they will receive less business than they could have from dedicated fans who’d surely love to spend like crazy on this card. I know I would.
Not happy with CapitalOne right now.
I’ve had a PlayStation VISA card since 2009 and tried to apply for this new deal and was denied (I have a credit score of above 7. No debt, no loans, nothing.)
After calling their customer service I was told it was because I already had a PlayStation card through them and was advised to cancel my account and re-apply tomorrow (9/28/12). So taking their advice I canceled my CapitalOne VISA account and re-applied today.. and DENIED again.
Now when I call they won’t tell me why it’s being denied so I have no credit card.. I guess they don’t want business that badly.. especially from someone who pays off their bill 100% on the day the bill is made available.
They want customers who are in debt and don’t pay off their credit cards so they can bleed you dry with interest charges. Not for me!
Capital One took note of your comment, and wanted me to tell you:
“We do value your business and are sorry to hear about your recent experience. Please email Capital One at social@capitalone.com with your name and phone number, along with the best time to contact you.”
Hope that helps!
