PlayStation Store Highlights
This week is jam-packed with games of all shapes and sizes, so you’re bound to find something you like. If you’re a Transformers fan you’ll be happy to see that the latest retail offering, Fall of Cybertron, is available the day it launches – in other words, right now. If you’re wavering on whether or not to get it, the fact that you can make your own Transformer might help you decide. Seriously.
Let’s just say for argument’s sake that you hate robots (you monster), but love team-based shooters. You’re in luck. Counter Strike: Global Offensive is the newest iteration of the classic franchise, so regardless if you’re a retired pro or a beginner, now’s a good time to get involved in the community. It’s the last title in the PSN PLAY promotion, which also means that this is the last week to purchase games and earn PlayStation Store credit back. Read more about the event by clicking here.
Counter Strike isn’t the only classic to get revived this week – Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 HD are now available for individual purchase. These games are available for download on both PS3 and the PS Vita stores.
Now, if you’ve had trouble finding Seasons Passes for downloadable content in the past, you should no longer have that issue. The store has a new section just for Seasons Passes located under “Add-Ons,” so now you can find them more easily than before.
PlayStation Plus members are receiving exclusive access to the DUST 514 beta this week and can purchase downloadable content for the title at half price. There are discounts galore this week, including: Counter Strike: Global Offensive, a plethora of Natsume PSP titles, and an interesting bundle with Plants vs. Zombies and High Stakes Poker.
There’s a ton of stuff hitting the PS Store today, so make sure you sound off in the comments and tell us what you think. We’ll see you next week!

@onslaughtree: Is your caps lock broken or something?
@Nomad-PhX: Yeah man I’m with ya on that one. Seems like any Sony dev that works on Vita games gets the axe soon after (Naughty Dog not included). What reason do 3rd party devs have to develop for Vita when Sony can’t even afford for it’s own to develop for it? And axing Liverpool was the single dumbest move they’ve made all year imo. Of all of the terrible studios under Sony’s roof they close one of the better ones? Just stupid!
I’d like to see Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episodes 1 & 2 on the PS Vita.
Oh also; Jojo’s HD for $20 is highway robbery. It isn’t even HD. All they did was slap a crappy filter over the original (one of those really bad emulator ones) make it widescreen and call it HD. It actually looks worse than the original.
If there’s 1 game title that would help the Vita sales that would be “GRAND THEFT AUTO”
As long as Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 would be available for BOTH PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. That’ll be great! But as of right now there are hardly any games (that I would play) that supports cross-play.
@220 Thanks for the reply but I have two gripes to settle.
1. Weather or not PS+ is a value for my money is for me to decide.
2. Nobody is getting free games from PS+, these are rentals included with the package. Rentals that I do not choose myself. Rentals that I do not necessarily want. Rentals that I can no longer play if I don’t continue to pay PS+ subscription fees.
Is there anyway to not include the trophy list when playing a 1 hour trial game? I hate to see the lists of games that I’ve played for 15 minutes!! I do not use that feature anymore which is pretty bad because it’s a great way to play games that I wouldn’t otherwise.. I’m pretty sure I’m not alone on this one, even though we are in the twilight of the PS3 age please consider a patch for this and also consider it for PS4!!
I’ll just use this place to say it too.
Closing Studio Liverpool was just.. ugg. Really? They were amazing developers. I know you’re struggling, but… that’s your own fault in a lot of ways. You’d be in a better position if you didn’t do stupid things. I know it wasn’t SCEA, but this is my outlet for it.
You’re struggling with stupid moves like porting Hot Shots Golf for PS Vita to PS3. Do you want people to just avoid buying the system? I mean, now people that were waiting for the games on PS3 have some actual justification with the PS Vita.
Come on. That is ridiculous.
Can ANYBODY PLEASE give me an comment or an answer about Counter Strike Global Offensive? I Joined Plus Member a day ago and i cant find CS:GO anywhere on PS STORE, what is wrong, when does the game coming out, the FULL GAME? Please anybody give me an answer on this! I Preciate!!!!!!
loving the uncharted 3 and sleeping dogs DLC :)

i love how there were at least 10 questions on the MGS VITA pricing and zero answers from SONY.
WTF.!!!!!!?????????????????????????????????????
Digital versions of the same game should be the same price. In addition…and more importantly….digital versions should be cheaper than disc based games since you don’t have a physical item & can’t sell it later.
i’d never buy a digital version over a disc based version of the same game….unless the digital version was significantly cheaper.
@262 publishers still haven’t figured that out yet, unfortuanetly. I was shocked to see Transformers digital release still priced at $60. Whats the point of getting digital or physical when they are the same price?!
Metal Gear HD Collection NEED CROSS BUY… :(
I say this, if your PC can handle it get Skyrim on that platform as it supports mods, isn’t as buggy, and is The Elder Scrolls origin platform.
Counter Strike and MGS 2? SCORE!
The metal gear solid ps3/psv price issue should be obvious, the ps3 version has 3 games as opposed to the 2 that the Vita has so the average price per game will undoubtedly be cheaper for 3 than 2. My question is why not Pugh peace walker on the store?
cool! a discount on sonic adventure just before sonic adventure 2 and sonic and sega all stars racing transformed
also i wish that the michael jackson game had the music he created in sonic 3
People saying the got counter strike on ps3 store, i dont see it? i cant find it anywhere, wtf?
@mossael: RU sure you’re not looking in the EU store? EU doesn’t have it (yet).Otherwise, try the search option.
@263
I agree. It shows that SONY are obviously laying off the wrong people.
Bring in some people who will actually work to fix this mess on PSN when it comes to price gouging.
Amazing games on PSN are just another reason why the PS3 for me is the best console. Can’t wait for Peace Walker because of the full MGS HD Collection. Counter-Strike looks awesome, love Valve games. This is a pretty amazing line up of games. Good job Sony. Can’t wait to see more.
you guys should put dc character avatars on the store i would love to have my avatar as green lantern
I agree with everyone about the MGS pricing and that those of us who bought the Vita bundle can’t download the individual games, but that is more of an issue with Konami (big surprise) than Sony. However, I do think Sony needs to have some rules in place.
Such as if a publisher releases a bundled game then decides to release them separately later for the same platform (or visa-verse), those games will be linked on the PSN. So if you buy the bundled version, you get both games separately too.
Also, Sony should also really work with publishers and add incentives for using cross-buy. At the very least, get them to bundle the both versions of the games for a discount. And do this at the release of the games on PSN so people don’t get screwed over buying both versions.
This will never happen, since even Steam doesn’t do this, but Bundles should keep track if you already own one or more of the games included and discount appropriately. I bought the PSN versions of MGS2 and MGS3 for PS3 and next week Peace Walker and the full PS3 HD Collection comes out (I didn’t know), so I’m sure buying all 3 separately is going to cost more than the bundle. I should be able to buy the bundle for the price difference between the $30 I paid for both games and the cost of the HD Collection. I wouldn’t be surprised if the HD Collection is $30 though and I’ll be forced to pay $15 if I want Peace Walker HD…
Coming In From The UK , Where The Hell Is CS ? Why The Hold Up ?
Pretty good update.
thanksssss
I am so disappointed, I was waiting month’s for CS: GO and now it dosen’t even appear in the EU. I’m so angry.
Ugh – such BS. Resident Evil HD Chronicles has already left Playstation Plus (before 8/28)! Went out to buy a $50 PSN Card too, only to find it’s not discounted any more :(
