PlayStation Store Highlights
This week is jam-packed with games of all shapes and sizes, so you’re bound to find something you like. If you’re a Transformers fan you’ll be happy to see that the latest retail offering, Fall of Cybertron, is available the day it launches – in other words, right now. If you’re wavering on whether or not to get it, the fact that you can make your own Transformer might help you decide. Seriously.
Let’s just say for argument’s sake that you hate robots (you monster), but love team-based shooters. You’re in luck. Counter Strike: Global Offensive is the newest iteration of the classic franchise, so regardless if you’re a retired pro or a beginner, now’s a good time to get involved in the community. It’s the last title in the PSN PLAY promotion, which also means that this is the last week to purchase games and earn PlayStation Store credit back. Read more about the event by clicking here.
Counter Strike isn’t the only classic to get revived this week – Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 HD are now available for individual purchase. These games are available for download on both PS3 and the PS Vita stores.
Now, if you’ve had trouble finding Seasons Passes for downloadable content in the past, you should no longer have that issue. The store has a new section just for Seasons Passes located under “Add-Ons,” so now you can find them more easily than before.
PlayStation Plus members are receiving exclusive access to the DUST 514 beta this week and can purchase downloadable content for the title at half price. There are discounts galore this week, including: Counter Strike: Global Offensive, a plethora of Natsume PSP titles, and an interesting bundle with Plants vs. Zombies and High Stakes Poker.
There’s a ton of stuff hitting the PS Store today, so make sure you sound off in the comments and tell us what you think. We’ll see you next week!

Will you guys ever lower the price for Valkyria Chronicles 2 for the Playstation Portable please? I’ve been waiting for a price drop and it’s been a year or so since it’s release and I want to buy it so I can play it on the Playstation Vita. It’s relatively cheap now in stores but I can’t play it on a Vita unless it’s in digital form. I never really made a request in the comment section, but I thought I’d give it a whirl…
A girl can dream, can’t she? :/
Why do EU PSN Plus members get the best games and US gets crappy games?I bought PSN+ for a whole year and if this is how you do it I will never renew it so you better listen to us Sony because we are the customers ,if you want our money you better bring all the games EU customers get.
Thanks again for another stellar update Morgan and team!
Speaking of team, welcome aboard Kristine! =)
@Kristine (response to #35)
Well, yeah. I want to play the full game trial to see if I like the game, but I’ve heard trials permanently add the game to a player’s trophy list. It’s a minor thing, I admit, but I’d rather not have my trophy list filled with games that I might end up not liking. I might end up hating CS:GO, but it would be stuck on my trophy list forever, and I know that would annoy me.
I just wish there was a way around it, like being able to delete the trophies, not add the trophies in the first place, or just having the option to try the game on a different profile.
huh WAIT, there is no Episode 3 of Walking Dead?!! C’mon! Telltale games told us that they will releasing it in mid August, the next store update would be next week and that is the last week for this month jeez… -.- anyway downloading my CSGO :)
So, why does the Michael Jackson full game trial appear under “New Arrivals” in the PS+ section of the Store, yet the Counter-strike: GO trial does not?
Why is the vita game more expensive than the PS3 one? Makes no sense. Also it should be cross buy.
It says:
Last Chance (Leaving on 8/28)
Malicious (20% off) – PS Plus Price $7.99
RESIDENT EVIL CHRONICLES: HD COLLECTION BUNDLE (10% off) – PS Plus Price $24.29
But couldn’t find them in the expiring soon section.
Gungrave!!!! yeah!!! finally came to psn. seriously, good old times
This month is stacked! I wish I was jobless so I can finish these games. No, not really about the jobless part lol. I regret not ever buying MGS 2 over 10 years ago, now I finally get a chance to play 2 and 3 on my PS3. Also, CS GO is out too and I still haven’t tried out Papo & Yo yet. It’s gonna be so hard to find time for all of these games lol.
Now we need Peace walker on the store
BTW, WHERES MY MGS4 AVATARS? can you guys tell konami im waiting for them a long time ago plz?
Way of the Samurai 4, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure HD, Metal Gear Solid 2/3 HD Edition!!!!!
since GUNGRAVE OVERDOSE is being release on PSN.
what about the first game?? Samurai Champloo Sidetrack by Grasshopper Manufacturer, Shinobido by Acquire!!!
more PS2 rare games please!!!!
So why in the hell would MGS games be $20 each for Vita but $15 each on PSN? Same games, just one is portable and you want to milk that? The Vita is lacking IMO in quality games and you pull this kind of BS? FFS Sony this is ridiculous charging more for the same games on Vita just because it’s the Vita. Or am I missing something here do they come with extras the PSN versions don’t?
I’m curious about Crazy Strike Bowling. Does it have trophies?
WHAT THE HELL?!!!! THIS IS DISCRIMINATION!!! AMERICA GETS COUNTER STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE AND EUROPE GETS NOTHING???!!!!! WHY? SOME OF US DON’T HAVE PC’S GOOD ENOUGH TO RUN IT AND TO KNOW THAT THERE IS NO PLANS TO RELEASE IT ON THE EUROPEAN PS STORE IS JUST WRONG!!!!!! EUROPEANS DESERVE TO GAME ALSO! WE DON’T GET HALF OF THE DLC CONTENT AMERICANS GET AND WE ARE OKAY WITH THAT. BUT TO KNOW THAT A GAME IS NOT BEING RELEASE FOR US BUT IT IS BEING RELEASED IN AMERICA IS JUST WRONG. SHAME ON YOU, SONY. SHAME ON YOU…
Is there a possible way to get Destroy All Humans! 2 on PSN?
$10 more for both MGS games on Vita compared to PSN?? I blame my fellow gamers for actually paying these ridiculous digital prices for games. These companies wouldn’t bother to pull this insulting crap if there weren’t suckers out there actually paying more than they have to for these games. Why pass the savings back to the customer if there are suckers willing to pay these inflated prices?
Fantastic update – Gungrave is a great surprise, very nice choice indeed! Legasista, JoJo and the TF DLC are also very welcome.
More like this please team!
@Grace Chen, Jeff Rubenstien, or anyone who will listen!
I’m a little sick of having Games pushed out to my system for auto updates that I don’t want. I just booted up my Ps3 and found Avatar The Game, CSGO, and LBPK Beta pushed out to my system. I like PS+ for its auto patches, auto trophy syncing, auto download of firmware, auto pushing my saves up to the cloud, etc. But I hate having these games pushed out with no option to opt out. I say Opt Out because I can’t CHOOSE which GAMES I WANT to have pushed onto my system. I would love to pre-order something on the PlayStation Store, come home weeks later to find say Darksiders II already downloaded onto my system. Or to have that free game or beta I wanted in on already downloaded after I sit down for the evening after cleaning up after dinner. I do not want to sit down in from of my PlayStation 3 and find 2 out of 3 things auto downloaded onto my system so I can spend 10 minutes of my time uninstalling them just so I can install the game I just downloaded myself. Key here is game I downloaded myself here as well, could have preordered Legasista, MGS, or Gungrave over the past 5 days and not a damned one of them is on my PS3 already.
ready for good news? You can actually select to turn off “demos and games’ from your auto update settings. This way it just keeps the auto download to trophy syncs, patches, and so on.
System Settings –> Auto Update and turn off Games and demos.
