PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
With the official launch of PS Vita at hand, we’re augmenting last week’s PS Store launch on PS Vita with another stellar update as well as some new PS3 Full Games, world class demos and one pre-order opportunity you won’t want to miss.

To start, one of the biggest games of the year is coming straight to PSN, the same day it’s available at retail. Mass Effect 3 will be available to download on March 6th and to celebrate, we’ve partnered with EA to bring you a special pre-order on the PlayStation Store. Pre-order on the PlayStation Store now and get the M-55 Argus Assault Rifle and the Mass Effect 3 – Take Earth Back Theme.

PS Vita games are also easy to look to as the star of the show this week. Games like TALES FROM SPACE: MUTANT BLOBS ATTACK, Touch My Katamari and Plants Vs Zombies pepper the PlayStation Store with some great gaming experiences. There’s even a new PS minis triple pack from Grip Games with 3 of their best hits, playable on PS Vita. But don’t miss out on the other Vita-only experiences like the AR (Augmented Reality) games Cliff Diving, Table Soccer and Fireworks. You’ll also be excited to see the first wave of apps for Vita hit with Live Tweet, Flickr and Netflix arriving with today’s update. Starting today, you’ll be able to find all the above PS Vita experiences easily viewable from the PlayStation Store on your PS Vita and PlayStation 3. There is now a special PS Vita Games category on the PS3 PlayStation Store as well.

You’ll want to watch the PS3 Full Games category for great new additions with Mafia II and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. But if you’re looking for something more bite-sized to download, get your hands on EA’s SSX via the demo. It’s your first hands-on with the definitive version of the game as the PS3 version will have the entire Mt. Fuji mountain as an in-game exclusive.

PlayStation Plus subscribers get a chance to snag 6 great Sega Genesis classics this week. Newer subscribers may not have had a chance to get these gems when they were available last year. Now, they’re all available free this week in PlayStation Plus. Subscribers also get access to great discounts like 50% off Hamilton’s Great Adventure.

There’s much more to uncover with today’s update so make sure you check out all the details below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or join the discussion on the PlayStation Community forums in the Official PlayStation Store Update thread.

  • Why is there no vita video section for game videos? Where is the facebook app? Everything is lumped into 1 category, vita needs its own video, demo section.

  • where’s the U3 maps?! LAME UPDATE :)

  • Cross Platform Play?
Please Sony I want cross platform play on all content. Why can’t I play my Fallout and Elder Scrolls games from PS3 to PSV? If you can do that then I will think you are serious about cross platform play, otherwise these little games could have been done using the PSP.

  • Oh well, nothing good this week I don’t already have.

It would be nice if the “store” could operate like a regular store and operate on a regular schedule (content being released at the same time every week like the competition does).

  • Great Store Update! Makes my already addictive PSVita gaming that much more FUN! Great Job Team! Woot! BTW… PSVita launch released APPs are sexy! Best feel n look EVER! Woot! Thx!!!!!

  • WtF!!! Where are the U3 maps??? I was yesterday waiting since 4pm and no update till 2am my time and when it finally updated, no freaking maps… really? OMG Sony what the heck is wrong with you?! >.<

  • The PS2 Classics seem to be coming out sooooooo slow :( I guess it will be 2020 until we might get all the PS2 games on PSN then LoL:D

Good update tho;) COME ON PSVita! ! ! :P

  • Yea, what happened to the Uncharted 3 Flashback Map Pack #2 that was suppose to release this week?

  • So Twitter is now available for PS Vita, nice! can’t wait for the Foursquare and Skype apps, also, I hope you consider making a Google+ app, that would be awesome

  • We want the Uncharted 3 DLC. Nobody cares, nobody says anything….. ”Great support”

  • Why always take so long to give the update of the store.Where are the new maps of Uncharted 3

  • These updates are getting so late that the east coast effectively does not get a Tuesday update, but a Wednesday one (as is the case here). I don’t understand how a company of this size manages to mishandle the most basic of things…Letting your customers give you money as quick as possible. It’s just unprofessional on every level and annoys and frustrates your customer base to no end.

  • To those complaining about what took so long, it probably had something to do with the Vita. While the Vita essentially came out last week, with the First Edition, the rest of them hit stores today. It never hurts to double check the network for a new system.

  • thank you for the update. however, there has to be a better delivery time than what you guys are doing. i understand you guys have a lot on your hands, but if you say something is to be present on a specific day, i would think it would be ready by that time. Grace, and the entire staff you guys keep up the good work, but can we get a more reasonable update drop.

  • Shame! I guess 99% of players here was waiting for the Uncharted 3 Flashback Maps #2 and SONY just trolling us… how disapointing

  • Sony. I’m not paying for PS+ for you to re-offer the same free games again and again.

  • Sony i here you guys have studios from the U.S and Europe helping out on The Last Guardian. Please don’t rush this game out. let Fumito Ueda great what he fells is the game he wants to put out. I hope you guys are not trying to put all these crazy gimmicks (3d, move) in the game just to appeal to more people. i want, no we his fans want Fumito Ueda vision, don’t stray from that.

  • Late updates with nothing I want in them is becoming a recurring theme.

  • Augmented Reality – Table Soccer doesn’t work! Can’t get past the pre game setup of zooming in on the AR cards. I tried 10 tens and it does the same thing over and over.

  • good update

ps vita 3 games full free *-*

  • Final Fantasy 13-2 DLC and Uncharted 3 Flashback Maps #2 ???????? :(

  • Can you guarantee that Mass Effect 3 will actually be available to download on the 6th?

Retail stores open between 8:30 and 9am and with the timing of these updates lately we might be lucky to be able to start downloading just before midnight? (or just after as is tonight’s case)

What’s the difference in price (probably none) and what’s the file size?

  • are the blue toad murder files pack going on sale or free for ps+ soon?

episode 1 was free for ps+ a while back, but there is no way the bundle is worth $14.

i know they were on sale at one point, but i missed them

  • @167 It was (maybe still is) free to everyone – it had nothing to do with PS+

  • Where’s the Vita Facebook App? Why no comment or warning or even an apology for the update being so late?! Why am I getting the same games that I downloaded months ago for free. I have these already! I mean good for people that maybe just joined Plus+ but I am getting the short crappy end of the stick here. Not impressed -_- Specially with the A. No heads up for the late update and B. for the lack of at least a sorry for the update being so late and C. No explanation of the Facebook app being non existent in this update. Get you crap together Sony! Your last 2 updates was late as well but this one is real late.

  • wheres the new Uncharted 3 Flashback Map Pack 02 like they promised for today?

  • Any chance you will be doing anymore $10 full ps3 games(free for PS plus member) like you guys did with far cry 2

  • Where is the DLC for Uncharted 3 Flashback map pack #2?

  • Can we please get Brave Fencer Musashi and Legend of Legaia?

  • Lighten up people! Its not like you’re waiting for something that is VITAlly important, like food, water, or VITAmins. These are just games! so cut Sony some slack if they take their time to upload some new games…. just go to bed and get them on Wednesday or Thursday….. sheesh, ungrateful brats will ineVITAbly complain no matter what you give them

  • Are you ever going to fix the bug that locks people out from playing purchased PSN content if you later become a PS+ subscriber? I called support 8 months ago and still haven’t had the issue fixed.

  • Can Sony hire David Jaffe to run the blog? At least that way we’d get some answers.

  • A big thank-you this month to everyone working at the PLUS department, I appreciate all the great content !
Thanks for Far Cry 2 on the 14th plus some other games which I’ll get to eventually (maybe this summer). This week I was glad to get Sonic the Hedgehog 1 as I missed it last year, since I joined in June. Offering games a 2nd or 3rd time for those who missed it the first time is a good idea, and I fully support re-offerings as bonuses, as long as it doesn’t affect the quality/quantity of new games or first-time offerings each month. In fact, please take a look back at anything offered prior to June 2011 in PLUS, and consider bringing some more games back as bonuses.
I also enjoyed getting an exclusive-to-PLUS demo of House of the Dead III early in the month, and with the free theme, avatars, and 30% Day 1 discount, I decided to buy the game, which previously I hadn’t planned on.
This was a great marketing formula which you should implement more often : exclusive demo + fun game + day 1 discount + extras = day 1 Purchase.
Overall this has been a nice month to be a PLUS member, please keep up the fun in the months to come!!

  • When will you get the Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories???
    Nice Games BRO!!!

  • So um, like… WHERE’S MY UNCHARTED 3 MAP PACK #2 I PAID FOR?!!?!

  • Ridiculous. I waited all night for the new U3 maps. If the Vita content overload is to blame, then damn that stupid thing.

  • I have to agree with everyone who’s upset over the late update. It was already Wednesday here when the store finally updated and without any word on the situation. We were just left hanging.

Now, to all of those complaining about the repeats for PS+. Are you guys stupid or something? How many freebies have you gotten this month now? It’s already been the most loaded month for us and you actually are going to complain about these repeats? If they were replacing freebie slots with these repeats it would be one thing, but these are being offered on top of an already huge list of free games. Don’t be such spoiled little pricks.

  • Wow! This was late! I had to go to bed – I couldn’t stay up.

Anyway, I’d like to know if/when more of the old PSP titles will post of the PS Store you will announce them or will just be posted on a store update blog? With the Vita without a UMD, I’d like to start downloading my old favorite PSP games for it.

  • I think you guys made a mistake on WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010 Digital – Sale (PS3) (now $9.99, original price $39.99) it should be PSP as the PS3 version ain’t on PSN.

  • I am glad you guys are having sales on certain PSP games for $9.99.

  • Vita + SSX demo = WIN!

  • Extremely Late Update + Missing Content = Not Happy. What’s up guys?

Where’s the Uncharted 3 map pack update??????

    *******

  • Guys, at least hit us an update on what is going on with the U3 map packs. Seriously. Are you trying to make negative news on Vita’s launch?

  • @128 you can. go to sonyentertainmentnetwork.com. Sign in with your psn account information. Then click the my devices link and deactivate all the ones you want to. I just deactivated everything and reactivated what I use.

  • I like how there is no news for us Uncharted fans waiting on the DLC…

  • I’m sure everyone has said this enough already but is it not possible to prepare the updates on Monday and then push it all out at a set time on Tuesday? By the time the store updated it was Wednesday for me on the east coast. Just wonder why it takes so long to gather all the content when it’s been known in advance it was coming out on that day.

  • I’m usually not one to complain, but it’s been 12 hours since the store updated and still no UC3 Flashback map pack? Is Sony or Naughty Dog even aware that it hasn’t been put up?

  • @XCronoX1979 Naughty Dog posted on Twitter last night:

We’re aware that the #uncharted3 map packs did not get published on the PS Store so far today. We have calls in and are waiting to hear back

  • Anyone else get the UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss Treasure Map Pack? I can’t seem to get it to install – I keep getting E-8001008f installation error.

The only way I managed to get it to work using was uninstalling the game completly (losing my save):
    1) Backup your Game data via Content Manager (if you already played the game)
    2) Uninstall Uncharted (this includes nuking your saves strangely)
    3) Reinstall Uncharted (but don’t patch)
    4) Download the treasure pack
    5) Launch Uncharted (to install the treasure pack)
    6) Install the patch 1.01

Unfortunately restoring the game from the backup on your PC / PS3 will make the treasure map not work. Not sure if there’s a way to extract only the save game after doing the above ~.~
