PS Vita will begin making its way into gamers’ hands in just a few short days! Day one Vita owners will have many, many games to choose from, with 25 titles announced for launch on February 22nd. Actually, make that 26 — Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is now a confirmed launch title as well.
If you’re being thorough, however, that number is off by a bit… like by 90%. Hundreds of classic PSP titles and minis will also be available to play on PS Vita on day one via the PlayStation Store. Even better, if you’ve already downloaded a compatible PSP title, you can download it directly onto your PS Vita at no extra cost (please note that some limitations do apply).
There are a couple of ways to get these PSP games onto your PS Vita:
- Purchase PSP games from PS Vita’s PlayStation Store and download via WiFi directly to your system. If you’ve already purchased a game via PSN from the list below, you can redownload it from the Download List.
- If you’ve already got one of these games sitting on your PS3 XMB (or have purchased from the PS3’s PlayStation Store), you can connect your PS Vita to the PS3 via the included USB cable, and transfer the game via PS Vita’s on-board Content Manager.
Here are the first 275 PSP titles ready to be downloaded onto PS Vita. Don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite title here now; more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks. We’ll keep this list current and let you know when updates are made.

For those of you asking, Media Go will not be compatible with the Vita. What is compatible with the vita is a new program, called Content Manager which you can install here:
http://cma.dl.playstation.net/cma/win/en/index.html
You can choose what folders you want photos, videos, etc. to come from on your computer, but when you connect your Vita you control copying over the files on your Vita. The PS3 will be handled the same way as you control what is being copied to and from your Vita on the actual Vita. Hope that helps :)
Ok, so if i have two psp’s activated, would the vita count as a third ? also i deleted the account on my PSP so would i still be able to deactivate it ? i tried online and it didnt work
also, did this policy with 2 psp systems become active in the US
I have a Vita and I can tell you now that some of those listed don’t work. Me monster hear me roar won’t transfer and speedball won’t even show up (as though it weren’t compatible). Also I just tried playing a psp game on it and damn, the game looks horrible. It’s super jaggy like it was made in the late 90’s on the ps1, is there any way you can put a smoothing option in there or something?
[Question] Since I DON’T Own a PS3 my ONLY OPTION to download game from the PSN is Over WiFi on the VITA? So I CAN’T Download the games on my PC[Wired Connection] Than TRANSFER them OVER to the VITA via USB…
WHY SONY, WHY! ;-( I’m upset…
I just read a previous comment and yes, holding the touch screen and turning on bilinear filtering is helpful. My mistake.

That or buy the physical games…
the reason why i want a PSvita is because of MGS PW. you better include it. otherwise i aint buying your handheld.
Seems silly… especially with the Jak and Daxter HD Collection having just come out this week not to include Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier… Should probably work on getting that game in there….
This is absurd. More and more I’ve been convinced not to buy the Vita day 1 and this was it. I don’t want to be told “Be patient if X game or Y game isn’t on the list because it MAY be there in the coming weeks.” That’s nonsense, this should’ve been resolved day 1. Now I know I won’t be buying a Vita. The PSP Go had the promise of having the UMDs able to be transferred to the system. Never happened. Liars. The Japanese Vita has that same concept already in place, but now America or any other territory isn’t getting it? Nonsense.
I was a PSP Go owner. I have over 30+ PSP games. From that list I only saw 5-7 I can actually play. That’s unacceptable considering how weak the launch line-up is. Where’s Gravity Rush day 1 Sony as it was promised?
@captenmidnight
Why would u buy a vita to play mgs peace walker when it’s made for psp? It’s your business and all but it likely won’t support the dual sticks and touch won’t do a thing AND it will likely look pretty bad on an HD display. Like watching SD shows on an HD display look terrible. Like ps1 games look awful and the controls are all funky on PS3. I’m keeping my psp to play psp games. Whatever is compatible is fine but I think it’s more trouble than it’s worth. Just a thought for you to ponder. Peace.
I’d love to get Patapon 3 on my Vita. Patapon 2 was my favorite PSP title and I’m dying to play the third.
Twisted Metal Head-ON? I hope that makes the coming weeks category… Great list vita power!
Phantasy star portable 2 is one of my favorite portable games ever. Power stone, Tekken 6, Darkstalkers, SFA3 are there thankfully and RR (since Namco does not want to sell the new game to anyone with a brain). We all know that we want to play new games designed for the Vita and we will. But Sony get the system into every PSP owners hands leave them no excuse even if they purchase the system outright to use the second analog stick for old games they have paid for.
needs loco roco, peace walker, valkyria chronicles 2, Birth by Sleep, and for goodness sake, GIVE US FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 ALREADY!
Jeff Rubenstein is PSN planning on making any ps2 or ps3 for vita and making a online game like battlefield 3, star wars battlefront renegade squadron or call of duty MW3 on the VITA
Anyone knows if Limbo and Braid will be available on PS Vita?
Dang! None of the GTA games will be compatible at launch! Please tweet when they are! :D
Happy to see Final fantasy 4 complete, and Monster Hunter on this list. Would be very happy if we can see Crisis Core on the psn though.
I want to know if PSOne Classics are in the works for the Vita.
I also want to know if PS2 Classics (such as FFX HD) will be compatible with the Vita.
I’m not the first to ask these questions in this article, but since they have not been answered at all, I ask them again.
I’ve gone from psyched to disappointed with the way the Vita is being handled by Sony.
Sony would like to tout the Vita as an all-in-one entertainment device, but they are cutting back on what it should be capable of. Now we’ll have to carry both a Vita and a PSP? I’ll wait for a price drop if that’s the case.
95% of you people on here cant read to save your lives can you? this is the initial list meaning plenty more to come they even replied multiple times and said we will add more be patient. everything doesnt happen at once console launches take time chill out buy it be happy they will bring your games jeez just stfu already every complains all day this generation of games has brought the biggest bunch of babies. There going to put everything on the store patience is key
sony, ps1 classics! i have ff7-8 in my ps3 on hold cuz i cant take my ps3 anywhere.
make save file transferable between the two. VITA-Ps3.
Amazing how incompetent Sony is, why are so many titles missing even big ones like MLB the show, Metal Gear? Why does it take sony so long to put titles on the store? Hate to say bug the competitor doesn’t have this issue.
I like how everyone at Sony is afraid to answer the “what about PS1 titles?” question… 215 comments, half of them asking for it…
just wanted to tell you guys, that the Game ModNation Racers in the Vita-Store has the Date 6th December 2012 on it xD the first release from the future^^
i am so disappointed i have 13 psone titles i have to play remoetly for now. i have 21 mini’s and only 6 are on here for now and really i have 16 psp titles with a big fat 1 to down load where are the free psp titles you gave us for he hack little big planet and mod nation racers let me guess they won’t be put on any time soon so sony can sell the new ones. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED and what i see in the next 12 days will determine when i buy a vita and i had all my pre orders paid off . WTH!!
MADDEN/ MLB THE SHOW/ GT5/ PEACE WALKER/ SOCOM 3 /SYPHON FILTERS/ RESISTANCE RETRIBUTION man iam very sad!!!
Plesae give me some hope and say ALL PSP GAMES will be able to download eventually!!
So i just bought Naruto Shippuden: UN Impact.? Um does that mean i wont be able to transfer it to my vita cause its not on the list.? Will someone help me plz… :'(
i have very single one of those psp games, do we get the same deal as japan? oh wait no we dont and my vita is late guys, someone called my from foster city hq last week and told me that i would have a complimentary vita by MONDAY past,(for the info i gave yu guys back in april, and I quote: “It’s our way of saying Thank You for helping with the hackers back in April) Monday the 6th of Feb. So its not here, why? do i have to re-buy all my psp games? it will cost me a small fortune to do so. i have 385 umds that i collected over the course of 5 years. s if were t re-buy or pay a 5$ fee, it would still cost me another 1500$ at least. i’ve already spent close to $8,000 on psp games, that vita should be here hopefully today or Monday coming…….
@7: Guys just make it clear. PS Vita will not be supported by Media Go it will have it`s very own Download and Media management application….
People are blind these days or what read article 10 times before freak out Sony is this Sony is that be thankful for the system and enjoy it not to mention that System is have very low sell price not to count that PS vita is almost as powerful as PS3 but 10 times the size
Canceling my pre-order and not getting one until I hear word of us getting included in the Passport program that Japanese consumers received. http://kotaku.com/5883089/sony-you-wont-be-able-to-bring-psp-discs-to-vita?tag=vita
LOL, I know Jeff is like WTF, really!? these people are ignorant :P
I just would like to say to people complaining, someone on YouTube has a vita and was on his U.S. account and wanted to download LittleBigPlanet PSP to it, and he couldn’t. In the description it said, that Later on it became available to download and now he can play it perfectly on his Vita. These games were the first ones that’s all.
That’s a great list of the PSP games to be downloaded to the PSVita. What’s missing on the list are the Phantasy Star Portable games.
Will I ever get to play Birth By Sleep??
what about games I have downloaded but arn’t on the list like the star wars battlefront series, will crisis core ever make it to download cause to be honest that is the one game stopping me from getting a vita if i can’t play cause it is the best PSP game, also are games on this list gonna take advanage of the second analog stick?
where is Def Jam fight for NY takeover, where is dragon ball z ,midnight club, and GTA series Come on Now
Downloads don’t work for me. I downloaded 20 MINIs I own from PS+ onto my PS Vita and none of them play, error code C1-2858-3. I am happy the store is finally up though!
Just one quick question, Will the PSP double packs be available on Vita?
For Example, I downloaded the Patapon/Loco Roco Double Pack on PSN, will it be compatable in the near future?
I’m not really bothered by it not being available next week when I get my Vita, because I will be too busy with Little Deviants and Modnation Racers, but I want to know If I will be able to play my downloaded game on Vita?
Also, THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR PUTTING PATAPON 2!!! <– My favorite PSP game
Will Phantasy Star Portable 2 be coming back to the psn soon and possibly an english port of Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity and will either of these be playable on the vita?
presuming i downloaded dissidia duodecim(or any other game) from the psn to my psp, will i be to play it for free on my psvita without paying for it again? and why no kingdom hearts? D:
I think alot are kinda rushing things the vita lay out of programs/games things is not up and running yet. maybe in japan but thats whole a new district of psn /sony..What we see onthe list is not final and siad to beall we ever have.. What psn games they cant do today dont mean wont come tommarrow or a few months from now. Some psn staff are paid to make these games come.. Paid!!
They need to find out how to get umd games and certain ps1 classic onthe vita in right fashion. not rush them and screw something up.. I rather them do it right the 1st time then rush we suffer 5 times. As far as i know th eumd thing will mostly be a game save of some type. that kinda like pulling needle out the hay stack with playing umd on vita becuase its 100% digital.
Also any game you own off psn thats psp/psn supported should work on vita when it lauches.. Key word when it launches on it usa debut
mcbuttz78
vp-psn legionairee group
Hoping that they’ll add support for the Capcom and Sega compilations.
One huge title missing, though: Gran Turismo PSP.
All I want is Pixeljunk Monsters Online. You hear me Sony?
Does this mean you can just play the game on vita or does it mean all these games will have the option of touch controls?
I’m really happy that all these games will be available, especially monster hunter, but why isn’t everything going to be? i mean, it’s an advanced technology and shouldn’t be too hard to emulate. I love all of the vita’s tech but you guys have REALLY got to get the games rolling out and fast if you want to see some sales go up. i mean, really, I don’t understand why console always launch with half-decent games. why not just wait until LBP, Resistance, or Warrior’s LAir is ready to launch too? you’d see much better numbers and then those of us intending to but wouldn’t have to truggle to write a positive review. give us SOMETHING Sony.
How can I transfer my UMDs coz thats all i have I didnt download any apart from the free ones LOL
Hey Jeff, How do we go about transferring save data for PSP titles? Would it be though the content manager?
Oh, I’d also like to add a comment about a recurring issue with some of the posts I’m seeing… Are some of you really buying a new system to play your old games? That is just senseless… I’m buying a Vita because the upcoming releases look great. I will say that backwards compatability is always a nice touch, and I too feel betrayed due to the lack of backwards compatability at launch (because they SAID that it would play PSP download games at launch), but technically they never said all download games would be playable(they’re tricky little leprachans). But back to my original point, buy a new system because it plays the games that aren’t playable on the old one, not because it has a pretty screen to view all of your old content, that’s just ridiculous,
Oh that Jeff Rubenstein taking time out of his busy schedule of making PSP minis with his wife to enlighten us. I can’t wait to play the Vita with my now classic PSP games.
Wow most of the games I have downloaded like GTA Chinatown War , Silent Hill not downloadable. That sucks. CanI Just download them on my ps3 and then copy them to the vita
