PS Vita will begin making its way into gamers’ hands in just a few short days! Day one Vita owners will have many, many games to choose from, with 25 titles announced for launch on February 22nd. Actually, make that 26 — Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is now a confirmed launch title as well.
If you’re being thorough, however, that number is off by a bit… like by 90%. Hundreds of classic PSP titles and minis will also be available to play on PS Vita on day one via the PlayStation Store. Even better, if you’ve already downloaded a compatible PSP title, you can download it directly onto your PS Vita at no extra cost (please note that some limitations do apply).
There are a couple of ways to get these PSP games onto your PS Vita:
- Purchase PSP games from PS Vita’s PlayStation Store and download via WiFi directly to your system. If you’ve already purchased a game via PSN from the list below, you can redownload it from the Download List.
- If you’ve already got one of these games sitting on your PS3 XMB (or have purchased from the PS3’s PlayStation Store), you can connect your PS Vita to the PS3 via the included USB cable, and transfer the game via PS Vita’s on-board Content Manager.
Here are the first 275 PSP titles ready to be downloaded onto PS Vita. Don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite title here now; more PSP titles will be made available for PS Vita play in the coming weeks. We’ll keep this list current and let you know when updates are made.

Hey, nice list guys
BUT WHERE’S PARAPPA THE RAPPER? Haha, I’m just kidding…
Also, not here to complain or anything, but it would be nice if we could some how get our UMD games onto the Vita. I’ve collected quite a few games that I really like, and I’d love to replay them in higher quality on the Vita. Or maybe even put a big discount on the PSP titles? I’m willing to re-purchase some of games if it’s affordable. Yes, I want to play Persona 3 again that badly.
Everyone is waiting for a next-gen handheld, and just about everyone commenting on here is wondering if it will be able to play last-gen games. What is the freaking point of getting a Vita if all you’re gonna do is play PSP games on it???
You all need to stop whinning and be glad they are even having “backwards compatibility”. Get a Vita to play new games. Keep your PSP to play old games. What is so hard about that?
Jeff: thanks for letting me know that my decrease in productivity will be much worse than I feared. I will be playing Lego Harry Potter @ work in just a couple weeks, yay!
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep is still missing from PSN store… Come on square! that game was the reason I bought a psp in the first place!
are you kidding me Sony??
Where the **** is :
Metal Gear Solid:Peace Walker
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Silent Hill : Origins
Silent Hill : Shattered Memories
Obscure : Aftermath
Gun: Showdown
Manhunt 2
Myst
Killzone
Modnation Racers
and
FREAKIN’ LITTLE BIG PLANET?????
getting REAL sick of hearing “Soon!”
like for…
PS1 support
Remote Play
Netfix support
and now PSP full support.
Who is making decisions over at headquarters?
Fire him!
If Lumines 1 and 2 and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep become available, I’ll need to get a Vita. Then I’ll be in Lumines heaven.
Minis that we received for free via PlayStation Plus are not working. Error occurred while trying to load those. Error code: C1-2858-3
and yes I did read the part about “more coming in coming weeks”
BULLS***!
Sony you getting real good at dangling the carrot in our faces.
Your empty promises of things to come are weak!
Again I ask:
WHEN do we get PS1 support, Remote Play, Netflix and the rest of the PSP games from the store???
I know!
“soon” huh?
I’ve got almost $600 worth of ‘Vita stuff” coming from Amazon next week…that may very possibly change “soon”!
Are you guys going to continue putting more PSP games on the PSN from the back catalog?
I’m talking about games like Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core and Ace Combat X : Skies of Deception.
games that are not on PSN yet.
what about UMD’s then? I was hoping for UMD drive you can hook to the PS Vita min B-port or one of its port. Just how if you don’t have CD/DVD drive for your notebook. Or allow trade-in of the UMD games for the download by giving the user the code. And their much send in their UMD games to company or who ever their need to be sent in too.
If PSVita does not have this then whats the point of buying PSVita if you can’t even play your old games on it. Maybe you guys need someone like me to work for you PlayStation team to make it possible then.
More is coming
IF i own sony right now, 1st thing i’ll do is make sure that my gaming field for the company; make sure all system models down the road can still play games from older model like PS3 can play PS1 & PS2 games. PSVita can play all the old PSP games that were on the UMD’s as well.
In order for UMD to work with PSVita you can trade that UMD game in for download version or have cross-play (it can be remote play too) from PSVita to PSP. Or UMD drive to still play UMD’s on PSVita.
I’ll be hoping that something happens soon for US to play UMD games on PSVita or i can see alot of people getting mad & ect.
:)
Peace Out
As someone who is very nearly ready to invest in the Vita because of its potential + PSP backwards compatibility, I would like some clarification:
Some users are saying the list posted above is a “compatibility” list, meaning only those 275 games are compatible with the Vita at launch. Others are saying that ALL PSP games are compatible at launch, but the 275 listed are games that users can download directly to the Vita without going through a PS3 or a PC. As a major Metal Gear fan(atic), I’d like to play my PSN copy of Metal Gear Solid, as well as Portable Ops, on my Vita. Will I be able to download Portable Ops on my PS3, then hook the Vita up to it and transfer Portable Ops and MGS1 using the data transfer utility?
Please add:
-Resistance Retribution (really surprised not to see that on there)
-Killzone Liberation (that one too)
-Pursuit Force (not so much… but still)
All of the above are Sony games so you can imagine the shock. Anyways I realize that the list above is not final, but they better get on it. Thanks for the list, although disappointing.
Please tell us when we’re getting PSONE Classics!
So no UMD passport for the US? Wow… That weakens my chances of forking over 250-300 bucks for a Vita… Please bring it to the US!!!!
I have a question, although I doubt it will get seen this far down the list… :/
Is there any specific pattern or reason some titles are not compatible with the Vita? For example, “all games produced after “X” date are coded with software “X” and the vita is incompatible with software “X”. Or something to that degree. Is there any rhyme or reason? Or is it just that each game has to pass quality control, which is a lot of man hours of game testing?
Thanks.
Why you guys asking WHY? Use you’re head for once to why half the games are NOT on the launch list for psp support. Little Big Planet, Mod nation racers for example won’t be supported on vita on day one for the psp versions cause Sony is WANTING to force you to buy the vita versions. They darn well know if they let you play the psp versions day one you will NOT but the vita versions. Its blackmail is what it is. Keeping you from playing what you were promised you can play when a vita hits but a week before launch they tell you NO. It MIGHT be supported later. If I recall right the psp version of mod nation has muliplayer online and the vita version DON’T. They know that so thats why they kept it off the launch list for VITA. Controlling conartist is what sony is doing with vita. I’m waiting on a vita. Let you guys get it and get pissed.
I would really appreciate it if you guys addressed the UMD issue. That and the issue of discrepancies between the First Bundle and the 3G Bundle.
I am happy to support you with a purchase, but I feel it’s not right to simply gloss over the issue or even ignore it until it goes away.
22nd cant come soon enough!!!
Are there any differences with the load times in PSP games on VIta? I’d really like Metal Slug Anthology but the load times were so bad.
I have a vita, and I’ll say everyone who buys the system is going to be sorely upset when they find out they can’t play PSone games on Vita. How much longer must we wait for that? (I’m annoyed because I bought a bunch of FF games just for my Vita, which I’ve had since last month)
Can you please hurry up and put Def Jam on the playable list? also is Ghost of Sparta confirmed as up and playable when i checked on my Vita last night it was only Chains of Olympus?
Plus I was wanting a 3g version but after seeing the 3g won’t work here in Montana since ATT isn’t OUT HERE that its useless here. Plus even if 3g ATT was supported out here in the future I still wouldn’t buy that RIP OFF. The price is 14.99 a month for just like 200 mb. Then they charge 30 bucks for 3 gb in 30 days. Thats ridiculous man. 3 gb will be used up after 2 or 3 vita games is downloaded. The 15 dollar package is a freaking JOKE to. You’ll be lucky to get 2 MINI games to fit for 200mb LOL. That 3g plan is a joke but you Sony fanboys just like 360 fanboys that praise a company instead of seeing you’re getting RIPPED OFF. IF I get a vita I’m getting Wifi. 3g is a waste of time and money. YOU’LL SEE!
Little Big Planet and ModNation Racers and WipeOut are all being remade for the Vita as a new game. I wouldn’t count on these being supported because of the new ones coming out. But they may make them available in the future.
I want Mega man Powered up on the PSN. Japan has it on the PSN.Why not us?!
Here’s the thing though: JAPAN GOT A UMD PROGRAM!
But we don’t? Look, I’ve been ardent supporter of Sony since I first played FF7 all those years ago and fell in love with the PS brand. PS2 only helped cement that by letting me keep my old games and even memory card save files etc etc.
But ever since PS3 (I’m lucky enough to own an original 60GB model) it feels like the company has been making sleight after sleight against us in the name of fighting piracy. Not to belittle that struggle, because piracy is a serious issue, but I honestly feel like the steps Sony is taking as a company are getting out of hand.
You removed BC from newer PS3’s, and now you’re offering Japanese owners a program to convert their UMDs to digital copies for the Vitas, but not for NA or EU consumers? Sorry, but no, I will not re-purchase my entire library for vita, much like I will not convert my DVDs to Blu Ray. I love your products, but lately your business plans are quite honestly offensive, and I sincerely hope that when Kazuo Hirai takes over, changes are made to repair the damage.
sweet and i just picked up 3rd birthday too \(^o^)/ i can’t wait to get my hands on the Vita!! I’m also looking forward to Lumines Electronic Symphony too >:3
SCREW YOU GOD DAMN MODERATERS. F U for never posting my comments. About ready to have the wife sue you since she never agreed to you’re FORCED console agreements.
Oh you post that but won’t post my other detailed comments. Screw you moderaters
As I’m sure already asked a few dozen times, are more PSP games going to get price drops? Many of the games on the PS Store are in dire need of a price drop to at least come close or match current retail prices. Especially all the PSP games being sold for $30-$40 when you can buy a new retail copy for $20 or less…
Get a hold of those publishers and get crackin’!
Impressive, must be the best launch of a gaming system EVER!
It’s sad that there will be no ‘UMD Passport Program’ for the USA. I really don’t want to re-purchase Ghost of Sparta, or Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny at full price. I would have been willing to pay a reduced price, like the gamers in Japan enjoy. No UMD passport program, the insane price of the proprietary memory cards (99.99 for 32gb thats just crazy) and the high price of the unit, has me reconsidering.
For the record, MGS: Peace Walker should be compatible considering it is in Japan..
Blame publishers if a game isn’t listed before Sony, same deal with the transfer program. If publishers aren’t on board (and going by how it went in Japan, most aren’t and even if they are, will charge stupid high fees) there’s not much Sony can do about it outside releasing a UMD reader add on.
This is ridiculous. Why are all of the PSP games not compatible, particularly all of the Sony-published games. Really…no Gran Turismo?
And to those saying “just wait, the blog post says…” we don’t believe them. We’ve heard that exact same line before. Sony said the same thing when the PSP Go launched and we all know how much support that thing got. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice…
Looking pretty good. Jeff, can I download a PSP Title that is not on this list on my PS3 to my Vita?
How about Media Go support? Is that coming down the line or is Media Go going to be replaced with a new content organizer or anything?
@Jeff Rubenstein
it’s been ask by some users and been asked by most people form other sites,
will vita be ever compatible w/ media go?
i haven’t seen any official statement from sony or i just haven’t seen it yet,
reply would be much appreciated , tnx in advance
Ratchet and Clank titles are on the list soon, right? I would believe so.
@ 164 I wish they put PS2 titles on the store. I believe that the PS3 and the PS Vita have the power to run them via software emulation.
PSOne classics please!!! and then PS2 classics!
Sony, you really need to make this happen. With all the talk about a unified Sony where hardware can access content no matter the platform that a Sony customer is on. Please don’t much this up!
@ 182
I wish they would make the Vita compatible with Media Go. That is the only program I use to play MP4’s because for some reason all my other media players skip and freeze in the middle of a video. But back to the point. It would be pointless to install another piece of software to handle another PS Portable.
Is the God of War HD Origins Collection playable via remote play on the Vita?
Woot! I can play my God of War on my future Vita :D
@126
Final Fantasy 1 & 2 are on the PSP for PSN… Its titled Final Fantasy Origins…
Awesome, thanks for posting a link of all the games we’re going to have to pay full price for since there’s no UMD Passport service for us North American players.
No Sonic Rivals? Or MGSPW?
I can hardly wait to buy a PS Vita system on february 22nd. at least I can be able to redownload all PSP games from my PS3 system to ps vita system. however, hoping still be able to read digital comic books on ps vita and get more digital games like kingdom hearts: birth by sleep and metal gear acid 1 & 2 since sony won’t make a UMD passport program for north america. would be much appreicated for sony to put those 3 games on PSN store in the future or so. keep up the good work, sony.
@189: FFI’s ORIGINS translation is more slipshod than its original NES one, at least as far as enemies and items are concerned. The 20th Anniversary one, besides the give-or-take of a different spell system, also has even better graphics, more dungeons, and a wide gallery of illustrations and music. Heck, I’d love to get my hands on a digital version of FFII 20th Anniversary; love that game’s aesthetic.
AND I HAVE FOR HOURS NOW REALIZED THAT THE LIST HERE IS OF GAMES THAT CAN BE DOWNLOADED VIA THE PS VITA. So, not so much a compatibility list as an availability list.
Will the Vita play the PS1 titles also like the PSP did?
Because sony thinks we are stupid enough to pay for the same game twice? Maybe the majority of sony fans are stupid enough.
