This massive PlayStation Home redesign will launch with a number of new, free-to-play games, including:

Boasting real-time multiplayer action, a variety of vintage weapons and unlockable rewards, and the unique ability to play as your PlayStation Home avatar, Bootleggers ’29 is a 100% free-to-play game that introduces a classic narrative to the modern shooter genre.
  • PlayStation Home Hold ‘Em: A series of backroom poker tables hosted in the brand new Sportswalk district, PlayStation Home Hold ‘Em squares players off in a no-holds-barred, winner-take-all battle of the bluffs. Only the best of the best will progress to the high stakes tables and collect all the prizes in this free version of the wildly-popular Texas Hold ‘Em card game.
  • PlayStation Home Sports Trivia: Test your sports expertise against the PlayStation Home community and unlock a series of themed rewards in this massive sports trivia game, found in the Sportswalk. Packed with over 10,000 trivia questions, this game will challenge the memories of even the most die-hard sports fans.
  • RC Rally: Build and customize your own remote controlled car and race against friends over multiple courses, performing stunts and tricks and unlocking numerous upgrades along the way. This fast-paced PlayStation Home original game can be found in the new Pier Park.

The following game Districts and redesigned core spaces will be available tomorrow:

  • Action District: A gathering place for hardcore gamers, the Action District has a gritty, urban feel reminiscent of a first-person shooter level and provides a direct travel point to action and horror games. Visit the Action District this Thursday to play two classic PlayStation Home Total Game Integration events that allow players to unlock content in Killzone 3 and Dead Island.
  • Sportswalk: The Sportswalk has an exciting outside-the-stadium feel with instant major league sports scores, headlines and highlights and sports-themed games.
  • Adventure District: At the launch of the PlayStation Home redesign, the Adventure District will present the UNCHARTED 3: Fortune Hunter total game integration event, providing a third-person adventure experience including a partial recreation of the Yemen level from UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception multiplayer mode and a cover-based shooting system complete with weapons and gameplay inspired by the hit series. Players can earn unlockable content that can be used in the Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Blu-Ray Disc game as well as additional PlayStation Home rewards.
  • Pier Park: A waterfront boardwalk leads players to carnival, puzzle, outdoor and arcade games. Take a ride on the Pier Park Ferris wheel or visit the arcade for more games.

  • I was In the Beta!

  • And to all the rest of home members welcome to the hub! it’s really a nice change! :)

  • Can’t wait for the doors to open to all! I’ve been enjoying the beta (within a beta, betaception!) and looking forward to having it finally coming to everyone! I think both existing Home players and those skeptical may find themselves enjoying all the new content!

    • A special thanks goes out to yourself and all the other private beta testers that have been helping us out these last few months. We couldn’t have done it without you guys and gals!

  • yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Awesome :)

  • @ ItsNymo: I think the same. I do hope also that PSHome begins to grow more than just a Beta and finally became what Sony has in mind. It will be awesome.

  • i might try it out, will this have a chess game like the previous home had? if so will be the same or better??

  • trophy support for them games yeah?
would love to get me a gold trophy or two in Bootleggers ’29

if not.. then still no reason to give home another try

    • Bootleggers ’29 does not have PSN trophies but it has a ton of rewards. I definitely understand your desire for PSN trophies from Home games but I would urge you to not let that keep you from logging in and playing the awesome, 100% free-to-play games we have in Home.

  • This is so exciting! Finally all my friends can experience the new Home with me! (I was in Private Beta – YAY!)

  • will all current Home spaces be accessible through this new hub?

    • All current Home spaces except for the Central Plaza, the original Theater, and the original Mall will still be available via the Navigator (these spaces will be replaced with the Hub, the new Theater, and a new Mall).

  • So excited! I enjoyed giving feedback to the beta and having this great opportunity to test all its power it has to offer. It got me addicted to Home again and made me be active on the forums again! I would like to say thanks for everything and can’t wait! I recommend people who never been on Home to really see it today and come back tomorrow to see the huge different Home is going to change! You won’t be disappointed!

Quick Question Home team: Has there been any news on the PAIN apartment and Home Trophy room?

    • Great to see you back, Fred! Welcome Home!

Unfortunately, there is no news we can share at this time regarding the two spaces you have inquired about.

  • Locust_Star

This is an open challenge to Home Hold ‘Em

    Do you accept?

  • im confused by some of these comments above; Home has been in Open Beta for a LONG time now, anyone could get in it. it hasnt been closed beta in a while now.

anyways looks cool, cant wait to see the new stuff.

PLEASE add back the missing items (ie. Cris Angel Coffin Couch)

  • @13 some users have early access to the Hub e.i. the video you see you above

  • This looks great! All we need now is Home in our Vita´s!

  • I suppose I am in the minority, but after seeing the new hub/Home for over a month, I will greatly miss Home as we know it now. I wish they would just add the new “core” spaces without removing the old. I still prefer Central Plaza to the new Hub. While I enjoy the quests, and a couple of the new spaces, I feel the majority of the new Home is change simply for the sake of change. I don’t feel it is an improvement. I realize that this is my opinion, and I don’t intend to take away anything from those who are excited.

I will miss the memories that have been made over the past few years, and will certainly miss our current Home core spaces. The new Hub feels so sterile to me, all shiny, and lacking character. Oh well, out with the old, and in with the new. Lets hope that future core updates include fixing so many of the actual problems in Home, rather than just giving it a face lift, and passing it off as a new experience.

    • You aren’t the only one that is getting sentimental about the Plaza (that would be GlassWalls, not me ;). If you really miss the Plaza that much, you can go to the Action District and play the Dead Island and KZ3 Total Game Integration events, both of which are hosted in versions of Central Plaza.

  • Is it just the hub being released or will it have new virtual merchandise to go along with the update?

    • There’s not a ton of new virtual items coming this week, but there are definitely some. And there are plenty coming in future weeks. On top of that, we’re putting hundreds of items on sale to help celebrate this momentous occasion!

  • @ 11….

Sadly Jack Buser killed the Trophy Room idea a while back in a post about the new Home hub. He said something about the integration of rewards for Home from games, and in game rewards from events like Dead Island and Uncharted were implemented instead. So, as for the Trophy Room, I would say it is a lost cause. Too bad, too. I think Home could have gotten more gamers interested, if they were shown that Home is still dedicated to suiting the gamers out there.

  • I dont need to go to Disney World anymore by the looks of things

    =P

  • I’m interested to see what changes will be made from the private beta to the public beta, if any. Also, I’m pretty excited to see that the Adventure District is being released tomorrow!

  • what a waste of Space, time and resources HOME is. Sony would be better off using that time on improving PSn and the XMB……. no one buys a PS3 thinking of home as any positive reason to buy one.

  • Must we own a copy of UNCHARTED 3 to play its PS Home game?

    • Nope. You get a robust game experience based upon UNCHARTED 3 in Home that is completely free and requires nothing more than a PSN account. Complete all the challenges and you’ll get a voucher code with will unlock the Kickback Endurance Booster, which you can use in the UNCHARTED 3 multiplayer when you get the game.

  • Hey GREAT Update you guys are the best!!! On another note, are you guys still gonna release the steampunk space you guys promised to released when you announced it on Qore a long time ago?

    • It was put on hold while the developers worked on this update. There is no current date of release for the Steampunk space, but we will update you if/when that changes.

  • How big is the update?

  • Looks very promising

  • NNIIIIIIIIIIIICE i love home the way it is now…i have TONS of items and i didnt even have to pay for anything…and they are very nice items too…like guns from games like Resistance 2, Dead Island, Uncharted 3 and more, wall ornaments and other stuff…anyone who does not go on Home is missing out on alot! this update is just amazing…now we will have even more things to do!

  • Nice! I love it! Finally i can get off Facebook and start my online social here where my gaming comment matters!

  • First off, I’d like to say ‘thank you’ for all of the hard work that clearly went in to this redesign. Updating something of this technical scale on a weekly basis, I’m certain, is a daunting task. The addition of the hub will make it even more daunting, so I wish everyone on the developing or moderating end the best of luck with all the craziness that is sure to come their way as a result of this.

I suppose my question for today is as follows: As we are seeing Home up the ante in space design and gaming, I am very curious if the programming involved will eventually be able to effect avatars. I, for one, would love to see more dances and gestures come to our avatars. As our avatars have learned how to duck-and-cover for the Uncharted missions, and any other number of games, it doesn’t seem impossible to implement further animation, especially considering that full-body suits already tend to do so. However, I’d rather see things that don’t limit our creativity in dressing our avatars by forcing us into a specific style, or empty $10 out of our wallet per animation. Do you forsee any sort of development in the future in regards to animation or any other aspect of the avatar system? Thanks if you’re able to answer.

    • Hi Shirobara,

First off, on behalf of the entire team, you’re welcome!

Secondly, avatar updates are possible (we’ve added dances, emotes, and other animations in the past) but are not part of this update. The animations you reference (meaning, those that are not tied to specific games or items) reside on the client level, which means that updates to the core client (e.g. v1.55) are required in order to effect these type of changes. This update is not a core client update – it’s an update of content that was built from the client technology. But there are more core client updates coming, and you can bet that the development team is aware of the community’s desire to see new avatar animations, because it is most certainly a widespread request.

Hope this helps answer your question.

  • I can’t wait to see this improvement…Thank you for inviting me to try out the beta. It’s awesome!!!!

  • @21
No, the Uncharted 3 Home game has been out for 3 weeks.

  • Firstable i want to start by saying THANK YOU to the Home Volunteer Team for making a Central Plaza Halloween Party that NEVER Happened, many of us were dressed up and some others went out of their way to PURCHASE a costume for an event that left us waiting, so Thank you .
Secondly , lets be real, Home hasnt change at all , its just a nice FACADE but the same old stuff remains, it only looks pretty and more spread out but is the same old boring Home , THE 50 ITEMS or less hasnt been removed, the 2 active items the same , No personal spaces in which your friends dont have to LEAVE to be able to change clothes, no full lenght movies to be played or even music , This new Home will be great for a month if not less then the thuth will settle and at the end of the day, we will still have to deal with shortcomings, the ever more pricey virtual items and the fact that is just the old Home in a better looking paper wrap .

  • That’s cool but where’s my Nathan Drake outfit with my custom animation? I pre-ordered Uncharted 3 through PS Home and I should have the code by now. Come on, now.

    • Amazon handles fulfillment of the voucher codes for the pre-order exclusive items, so ultimately any questions should be directed to their customer service department. That said, the codes are only sent out until after the game ships, and usually arrive within a few days tops.

  • ALL IM EXPECTING FROM THIS HUGE UPDATE OR SHALL I SAY “TRANSFORMATION”…IS THAT THEY PERSONAL SPACES CAN NOW PLAY MEDIA FROM YOUR PS3 HDD. THAT’S ALL FOLKS!!! AND IF THIS IS NOT IMPLEMENTED IN THIS TRANSFORMATION THEN I MUST SAY IT IS AN EPIC FAIL IMO! >:/ BESIDES THIS THE TRANSFORMATION IS LOOKING VERY IMPRESSIVE. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK HOME DEVS

  • I cannot wait to check this out!

  • Is it Me or the people in the pictures checking the Hub spaces are new people, is it an strategy to make them go UUHHH WOW and also because they probably dont know all the problems that plague Home ?
Any news on the Recycling Bin for the items we dont want , and the Home Gift Machine, to send , exchange or give away items in our possesion to friends . ?
I like the new Hub, looks nice , however im not gonna go OOOOH WOW its Amazing til a month after, as they say , NOT Everythign that Glitters is Gold.
i agree with Erickafollie, in 1 month we are going be in 2012 and til this day we cant listen to music, no new avatar moves, we bought personal spaces with TVs that only shows trailers , etc etc etc , for that and many other reasons , im cautions about going out Celebrating the “NEW ” Home . Hope it proves me wrong , but for some reason I doubt it .

  • Erickafollie is pointing out several of homes biggest flaws that others have spoken out about as well. I also was at central plaza monday night and early to boot, stayed past 10 and the event indeed never took place. I was on a different server than erika and this was NOT an “isolated incident”. Do us, and your reputations a favour and if you announce an event make sure it happens.

As for the rest, the redesign looks good but friends who where in the beta have said its nowhere near ready for release as late as a week ago. Hopefully someone put the effort in to ensure it isn’t a huge egg on sonys collective face when thursday rolls around. I’m hoping (probably in vain) that some of the other longstanding issues will be dealt with in the redesign. In short I want this to be a positive thing not an overly ambitious whitewash.

  • Hello i would like to know if the bowling alley is still going to be in the new playstation home and if so where is it going to be at

  • Locust_star

Is there gonna be any virtual items available this week, and a private CP private space would be nice, alot of my friends think so to

  • opps 2 privates lol

  • Also Locust_Star
more steam punk virtual items plz ,its huge now, the steam punk popularity that is

  • I was invited to private BETA early in October but I passed and waited for the final product. Can’t wait! :)

  • @8
Games are meant to be fun. Things you can play for your own entertainment or play with friends to enhance the experience if you so choose. The way they make you feel is the reward. Keeping yourself from that for the sole reason that because you don’t get a *ding!* Trophy! so you won’t play it seems a bit silly honestly.

The gamers with the most trophies doesn’t win. The gamers who enjoys themselves the most win.

  • I loved being a part of the beta! It was a very cool experience. I will definitely lament the death of the plaza and the mall though. Lots of memories there where I met the majority of my closest friends. Will definitely have to take some pictures tonight to make sure I never forget what the plaza looked like. RIP!

  • From first hand experience with being part of the private beta (btw: really appreciate the opportunity), I am in love with the redesign of Home. It’s truly an amazing update that many Home users old and new will enjoy. I can’t wait to see what’s in store in the coming weeks and months ahead.

    Awesome Job Home Team!

  • a huge thank you to all who have done so much, for so many, but with so little thanks and recognition for their hard work. i take my hat off to you people! thanks for making (most) of my spare time an enjoyable home experience. just wished id signed up on blog 3 years ago. i look like a noob all over again. lols.

  • I was in Beta for this and, since then, my favorite apartment (Rapture Metro) has been screwed up such that I can’t even access it without it freezing up, yet you are releasing the build. I posted my issue on the forums with no response. Maybe the issue is unrelated to Beta, and the new build will actually fix this problem that hasn’t affected any of my other apartments, but it’s frustrating to have you guys working on something completely new without even addressing when and if the current bugs will be fixed. This isn’t a trolling post, but I just don’t care about anything to do with Home until my apartment is fixed.

  • Everything looks great!

    ONE QUESTION!!

When can we watch a tv from our personal space to share with our friends? That would be awesome.
Would be nice to watch netflix or content saved on our hard drive with some friends in the personal space.
Been waiting for that ever since i saw that displayed when Home first came out.

    Thanks!!

  • can some one answer if we have central plaza in your favorites will it stay or be gone come tomorrow???

  • I hope those games come with trophies =)

  • Beta was good. Most memorable part was when i tried to lose at texas holdem 3 times by going all-in but won all 3 of them lol. Thanks Glasswalls for the awesome beta! I was shocked when i saw that home has there own fps.

    GOODJOB!!
