PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
You want awesome content, you got it! This week continues to make it easy to spend the $60 in October to get $10 back in November as part of Only On PSN with the release of Okabu and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken. Download Okabu and quest solo or co-op with a friend to return peace to the lands. With an unforgettable cast of whimsical characters, Okabu delivers a PSN physics toybox world from the talented folks over at Handcircus. Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken explores the other end of the spectrum with a cinematic 2D adventure, wrapped with amazing art and music to make for an unforgettable experience. Both games are part of the Only On PSN lineup, and therefore get a 20% discount via PlayStation Plus.

Other new releases this week include more co-op titles such as Dungeon Defenders and PAYDAY: The Heist. Dungeon Defenders (sporting Move and 3D support) is a four player co-op Tower Defense action-RPG. PAYDAY: The Heist brings the heat as you plan the perfect heist over several scenarios. For those who purchased all the titles in PSN PLAY, you can grab this title free and should have an XMB message waiting for you with a link to the game in the Store.

We are confirming that the Gran Turismo 5 DLC update will be available to download on 10/25. We apologize for the delay in the content however as a gift to our eager fans we are offering free bonus content. For those who purchase the “Complete Pack” by November 7, we will throw in a unique GT Academy dynamic theme as well the Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model. Just to be clear, both the dynamic theme and the car are free with purchase of the Complete Pack. Again we are sorry for the delay and hope that fans will enjoy all of the fantastic new content to come for GT5.

Lastly, PlayStation Plus subscribers continue October’s month of content and discounts with some new discounts including 50% off Burnout Crash!, 70% off Under Siege, and free PSN titles in time for Halloween like Dead Nation, Burn Zombie Burn, Alien Zombie Death, and Age of Zombies. As noted, this week is also the only week that discounts on Okabu and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken will be locked in.

  • I never usually post on here, but I have been a ps plus user since day one, yeah they add alot of free games that I have already purchased, but they also add good discoounts on stuff and ps plus is for those who like to buy lots of psn games, not for people to subscribe to it just for free games and not be happy when they don’t get them lol. Also just because Dead Nation is free for ps plus that does not mean that said person picked it as their free game since they had what 4 choices for the welcome back program package thing? PS PLus is for you to get discounts on games and get some free ones. Also I would assume that DC Universe is Free to Play Online, just not available to download yet, probably wont be until next week they are probably giving it to the users who have already pruchased the game. Once again they didn’t say that the game was free to download yet, just free to play.

  • Any update on DCUO release date?

  • DCUO IS FREE OCT 19TH! TODAY. JUST CHILL OUT YALL, YOU’LL SEE THE CHANGE SOMETIME TODAY.

  • Very late on the update Sony. What happened?

If I didn’t enjoy Payday so much it might have bothered me. Payday is freaking awesome. Definitely a game the Playstation needed. Everybody should check it out it’s well worth it. Also glad I got it for free since I bought all 4 games last month.

I also just bought Okabu, Rocketbirds, and Ghostbusters. Would have bought Beat Hazard but since I have on 2 other systems $10 wasn’t worth it. Give me a Plus discount on it and I’ll bite. Great update but next time let us now what’s going on please.

  • What happened to instant psn cards on amazon.com.

  • I received the Payday code via msg loooong before this update occurred :D And I’m glad I was able to download it right away too. I bought the 4 games to get PayDay free. Am totally happy about the products. Alas, I’ll have to wait until tomorrow night to sit down and fully experience Pay Day.

Speaking of this update… It was weird. It like, slowly trickled in. I grabbed all the free stuff, videos and demos first. I’ll grab what I’ll buy after the demos have been played tonight. Actually… about this update, or rather all updates in general. Can I get a mod to answer this for me please? When the Store update goes live on the original server, does it get, I don’t know?– mirrored to other servers with a timed “sync’ of sorts? If that’s the case, then that could explain the trickle effect, not to mention why some updates are later than planned on our end when it mayhaps went live on time (or within Sony’s stated time-frame).

  • Anyone happen to know the aprox. install size for DCU when it gets released sometime on the 19th?

  • Despite all the whiners, I must say this is one of the most insane updates when it comes to discounts, especially as a PS+ subscriber. Kudos to you, owning MS this week!!

  • I’m finally back online, so many things to catch up on

  • Seriously what kind of monkeys do you have working for you, your info is inconsistent and dates are inaccurate.

  • Your Deux Ex DLC prices are wrong.

  • Most of you whiners are so annoying, that’s 2 Free PS3 games (so what if you have them, others now get a chance to play them, also our Free PS+ Game came out the first week of this month), 3 Free Minis, 1 DLC, 2 Avatar Bundle Packs (Yes there is a free Underseige Avatar Pack 1 under NEW right at the bottom) Discounts to knock your socks off and sales that you can purchase.

Either Playstation fans are SUPER CHEAP, or they all have reading comprehension problems to know that DCUO is coming out tomorrow for free. Yes these guys make mistakes, but maybe its not their decision. We should be glad we have SOMEONE to talk to in regards to concerns or props, that’s the point of this blog, however everytime I come on here, someone is crying cause they already have the game.

PSN Blog people, I commend you for putting up with these whiners. Now someone is going to whine about me whining at others whining and whine some more.

  • Finally LOL, but why doesn’t black ops DLC ever go on sale, also more cool avatars please. tired of those stupid street fighter ones.

  • Better late than never. Picked up Payday, Dead Space, Dungeon Defenders and maybe a few others depending on if their demos prove to be worthy.

Also, does redeeming codes count towards the Spend $60, Get $10 back Promotion? For example, I buy a year subscription of Playstation Plus code from Amazon for $50. Once I redeem the code on the store, does it count as spending $50? Not like it matters though. This month alone I probably spent around $150 on the store alone. I just know that more than half of what I’ve spent is through redeeming codes that were paid for else where.

On a side note, Payday: The Heist is amazing.

  • woooow took long enough. Why is the Rachet and Clank: All 4 One Game trial not out? Like it was supposed to.

  • Very nice update! I had a few of the free ones already -no biggie- but some nice games for $3 or $4. I grabbed ’em right away!

  • Can’t really say I’m surprised the GT5 dlc is delayed with its egregious history of being late. I had a good LOL when I read the ticker on Xplay about this delay. Though its no fun for those who bought the game, its like entering the race and being forced to participate on foot.

  • I need my PayDay:The Heist Sony!!!!!!!!!!

  • another week, and nothing for psp users…seriously? oh well i guess with the release date for the Vita i cant be too upset. just wish Sony would take it on themselves to try and release as much psp games they cant as i assume the Vita can play psp games through the psn. So why not take the chance at people getting ready for the Vita?
I guess i can never play Crisis Core on my psp…

  • So much free stuff, so many demos, and still there are those who whine. It’s depressing.

  • Love the Sega discounts ! Valkyria Chronicles is a great franchise. Hope they come out with another PS3 version. Also, I would like to put in a request for a discount on the original PS3 titles DLC. Please, please, please !!!!

  • At all the whiners: Apparently you don’t remember a while back when one of the PR people explained to us that the free full games had been slowed down to once a month, with a few extra minis thrown in around the month. Considering this is the third week of October, I’m surprised to see extra free games, period. But if you’re really that blind, they’re giving away all ZOMBIE games. Don’t get your panties in a bunch. The first week of November will still have the regular “new” free stuff. I find it kinda considerate of Sony to make sure everyone on PS+ has Dead Nation in time for Halloween, and on a non-free week at that.

Also, huge update. I’m gonna have to go buy a couple $50 cards on my credit card in order to get all the stuff I want. And to think, I was worried about hitting $60 this month… >.>

  • Hope this all will be available to the EU store as well.
will definitly get age of zombies, burn zombie burn, hard boiled chicken and might get payday if the demo plays nice

  • Grace,

There is a listing error in the store. The “Whats New” advertisement says the Burnout Crash sale is “One Week Only”, but the “Last Chances” PS+ section does NOT contain Burnout Crash.

People might think the Burnout Crash sale is more than 1 week long, and not get it… only to find out the sale was removed without notice.

I thought I would let you know, to save you the backlash of users claiming there was “no warning”.

    Thanks again,

    Kirkpad

  • It was worth the wait i guess.

    Payday is freaken amazing!

  • All the Free + games were already offered free… I feel… Dirty.

  • I sent a personal message to DocProphecy (@112) about spending +$60 through third party services (like amazon), but I thought I would let everyone else know:

You need to spend $60 from your PSN WALLET (or directly by credit card through the PSN store). Buying games or PS+ cards through Amazon is NOT contributing towards the spend 60 get 10 promotion. The terms and conditions state that content needs to be bought using the PS Store and not any third party. If you want to use amazon for this promotion, buy PSN cards and redeem them so the money is added to your PSN wallet.

Here’s the quote from the terms and conditions:

“$10.00 PSN Wallet Top Up is available to legal U.S., Canadian and Mexican residents with a Sony Entertainment Network (“SEN”) or PlayStation®Network (“PSN”) account who are 18 or older and who have spent $60.00 or more using the SEN Wallet between October 1, 2011 and October 31, 2011. Third party application purchases are excluded. ”

Note: SEN is the new name for SNEA, or whatever it was (which regulates the PSN store as well as the Qriocity store).

Hope that helps anyone else who was confused!

  • Hi, I´m a brazilian gamer but i like read this blog, he is amazing!

Today i will write about a demo who i wait anxiously his name is:

Demo of Need for speed: The Run

For me is the best game of this week in update of the Playstation Store. I will do download of this demo today.

  • Very helpful of you, Kirkpad. You do know that the people who need this clarification are almost exactly the same subset who never read for comprehension, right?

And that I’m being snarky just so I can see my new seasonal avatar. I love pumpkin everything.

  • @126, NeoZion, hi. Your use of English is charming. May I point out to you that English is different from the many languages that assign “gender” to all nouns. In French, nouns will begin with LA or LE, in German, DER, DIE, or DAS, for example.

In English, inanimate objects like a game, or a blog, are just “the” and “it”.

I just want to be helpful, not trying to offend. And I want to see my cute new avatar.

  • Shame no ‘Long Live Play’ video :-(

  • Yay all stuff we got from previous ps+ updates and dead nation from the outage.

  • October 18?! October 19!!!!! lol i went to sleep at almost 12am and the store still wasnt updated lol

  • Excellent content for members Plus.
    SPFC é isso ai!

  • Well, this sucks. So, you guys could access Psn ? awesome – Cause i can’t , Id like ot buy the BO rezzurection, but it keeps saying, Can’t add funds to your account …. Advice anyone ? .. – .-‘

  • Sony’s handling of the Playstation Store does nothing to engender confidence in Sony’s online acumen and competence. This has to be treated like a professional, well thought out retail endeavour – not a fly-by-night, make-it-up-as-you-go-along service.

XBLA has updated at the same time for 7+ years running (and updates other content daily, not just once a week) – how hard is it to establish some internal discipline and set a hard deadline? If the content isn’t available by a certain cut-off time, it doesn’t make it out that week – period.

  • Instead oh griping and hounding the psn store last night, you should of spent time with your loved one. He or she would of been like “aaaaw youre spending time with me instead of playing your new releases” just dont tell them that they havent been posted. There is more to life than pointing out Sony’s obvious flaws, but it was a pretty good size update. I say its worth the wait if they are going to bring this much content. Its not like your ps3 buddies are going to get anything quicker than you. Ps store gets updated at the same time for all of us.

  • was the trophy level cap raised ? or is there no trophy cap at all now ? PLEASE ANSWER

  • # 96 is right.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Tactical Enhancement Pack ($14.49)

On Steam, this pack is only $1.99. $14.49 for two guns, and extra in game currency? There is nothing else in that pack. Someone really needs to check that price, because there is no way that is the correct price. Someone either added on an extra $10 when they put in the price tag, or they weren’t paying attention. Why would a simple weapon DLC cost more than the actual mission Add On, “The Missing Link”? I hope someone at Sony is reading this, and they will look into this little discrepancy with price, because I was looking forward to buying it. I still might, so long as they guarantee a partial or full refund for the price issue.

  • @136 ChaosStorm57 Yes. IGN did an article about it saying that they either raised ii or flat out removed it. A player had proof he went beyond level 50 for the cap.

  • Buying right now: Rocketbirds!
Should be more avatars but I guess someday will be more.

  • the GT5 delay essentially means no sale. Delayed for seemingly no reason (we also already downloaded it anyway with the last update) and then released along side one of the biggest games of the year? I’ll save my money. Sick of the constant disappointments with this game anyway.

  • @128, lisatsunami, hi. Thanks for the tips, I will try to improve my English.

  • I’ve been hoping for the following title to be discounted again! However there seems to be an error with the listing of Valkyria Chronicles II PSP Bundle pack on the PS Plus side (40% off section). The selection listed is the actual game for $39.99 (not discounted). Those looking for the correct discounted listing of the Valkyria Chronicles II PSP Bundle pack will find it in the bundles section of the general PS store.

  • Can someone clarify this for me. When it says free PSN game (Dead Nation) how long can I keep it. Cause I remember they had free Plants vs. Zombie for a month and then it wasn’t free anymore.

    • This is for PlayStation Plus subscribers. These titles are free while they’re in the PS Plus section of the Store and yours to keep as long as you download them and maintain your PS Plus subscription.

  • Ooh there are some nice deals for PSP games.

I was scared Valkyria Chronicles 2 would never drop in price digitally. Now I have to do some serious research to see whether or not I’ll like that game ha.

Strong update though, no complaints from me.

  • Why does Sony even have a blog, nobody responds. What’s the point? At least when Rey screwed up he quickly fixed it and apologized. Even after all the verbal abuse he STILL DOES HIS JOB. Here’s an excerpt of Grace Chen’s post from Oct. 3:

    Full Game Trials:
    Resident Evil 5 – 10/4
    Shift 2 Unleashed – 10/4
    Brothers In Arms: Hell’s Highway – 10/18
    Dead Space Digital – 10/18
Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One – 10/18
    Homefront – 10/25
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe – 10/25
    MX vs. ATV – 10/25

Anybody see R&C or BinA? No, nether do I. ANd what’s Grace’s excuse, she posted the original post 3 week ago so she hAs to know about it, she posted it, and now nothing. No trials, no comments. What is this person getting paid for exactly? If you don’t want to fire her fine, but make her DO HER JOB.

  • Sorry for all the typos above, this stupid blog needs an edit function.

  • Where is Ratchet & Clank All 4 One Trial?
