Alas, like most “classic” updates, I already own them for my still working PS2.
Sony created a console 10 years back in 2000, still works in 2011, now they’re trying to re-sell the same games again as classic.. To people who already own them and people who never heard of them, Yeah yeah. It’s just funny being reduced to the demographic that apparently doesn’t exist anymore.=/
Everybody else enjoy the games, Ring of Red , Odin Sphere, Godhand and Grim Grimoire aren’t easy at all.
Speaking of Odin Sphere, that better be the UK version as the NA version was laggy as hell.
FYI I can buy RE5 Gold on disc from wal mart brand new for $20 why would I spent $30 to get it digital? Just Saying…!
Ok the PS2 games don’t ruin your controller, but you do have to reset your PS3. Annoying, but not the end of the world. Hopefully you guys can patch this?!?
Ok so after reading these comments I suppose the PS2 classics sections will be only be including exclusives, that’s disappointing, I’ve always wanted to play the GTA series on my PS3. :(

They’re re-releasing PS2 classics because unlike you some people do not have a PS2 and would want to play PS2 games on their PS3, simple as that. We don’t want to buy a whole new PS2 just for a few games.

Another dull update for me. About the only good things in this update is the free Costume Quest game (which ill probably play once, then delete like with most ps+ games i downloaded) and the DLC for portal 2 thats not really saying much.
Granted i like the Crono game, but probably wont be buying it any time soon, still waiting on psp games to be available on the psn. it sickens me that you arent taking it seriously anymore. Is this your plans for the Vita? support it for a month and call it quits? because i really dont want to dish out 250$ on something that isnt going to get a lot of support. I already did that with the Psp Go…
For those complaining about lack of storage for the cloud saves…. Why don’t you get some kinda USB drive and copy all your saves to that as back up and only back up your saves to cloud that wont go to USB?
The most pressing question I have regarding this update: Will the PS2 classics be able to run on the PS Vita when it launches, similar to how PSOne classics can run on the PSP? That would completely sell me on almost all of these titles.
And also, please Square-Enix, do not release the Kingdom Hearts games on PSN. Do a proper HD Collection with trophies for 1+Re:Chain of Memories+2. You’ve got your three games right there. Make them pretty and let us buy them again.

I’m curious about the PS2 classics for versions of PS3’s that do not support PS2 playbacks, but I guess that may be of little concern. I’m excited nonetheless.

Most likely because these PS2 classics have been recoded so they can run on the PS3.
What I’d like is if there was a way that you could prove you have the disc of a PS2 game that’s on the PSN and be able to download that game for free!
Costume Quest is so awesome. I remember back when I first signed up for Plus I was torn between that and the Plus service…what goes around comes around, eh? This card game is so fun too. Sucks about the online tickets thing, but whatever. If this is an IRL card game too, I can see myself getting easily addicted to it lol.

I have a 60 GB PS3 and it can play PS2 games. The controller turning off when you start a game and when quitting a game is normal. It does that on my PS3 when I play a PS2 game. So don’t worry about it.

Fantastic way to start off the PS2 ports, with one of the awesomest, God Hand! Thanks! As a suggestion for future ports, how about Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2? I know they were’nt PS exclusives, but I still play them constantly (and HD upgrade would be awesome, too… but I know Lucasarts would have to actually care about the Battlefront series for that).
great update!!! i bought NBA Jam last night! but im kind of dissapointed about the Resident Evil Discount… im a plus member and i was exited about the 25% off on the price of RE5 … but in the end the game with discount is marked on 22 bucks… in Amazon the game is sold at 20.50… and when you finish the game and if you trade it trought amazon you get a gift card of 16.25 bucks … so you even get the chance to get your money back… i really wanted to buy this game at the psn store but.. at that price i will rather get it trought Amazon… to me the ideal discount should be 40% off for psn plus users, at least with that you beat the price of amazon and reward your loyal psn plus members. Other than that im very satisfy with the psn plus service and the offers and free games we are getting trought it

This Chrono Trigger is definitely the old slow PS1 port..manual even shows the Final Fantasy Chronicles logo..wasn’t sure if this was answered by anyone else..did a quick search, didn’t see any reply’s to the concerns..hope this helps others save $10
