We are excited to announce that PlayStation has partnered with DIRECTV to bring its popular sports subscription service, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, to the PlayStation 3 game console. PlayStation owners across the country will now have the opportunity to watch every out-of-market Sunday game on their PS3.
How do you get in the game? At the start of the season, viewers who do not currently have access to DIRECTV will be able to subscribe to NFL SUNDAY TICKET at the season price of $339.95. Existing DIRECTV customers who already have NFL SUNDAY TICKET and NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go through DIRECTV can access the service on their PS3 for no additional charge.
NFL SUNDAY TICKET is a DIRECTV-exclusive sports package that offers:
- Up to 14 NFL games every Sunday
- Full HD for every football game
- DIRECTV’s Red Zone Channel
We know that PlayStation fans are huge sports enthusiasts, so adding NFL SUNDAY TICKET is the perfect complement to the PS3’s rapidly growing lineup of sports entertainment, including MLB.TV and NHL GameCenter. We’ll have more info, including a video tutorial and sign up information on the blog shortly. I hope you’re as excited for the football season as we are.
Hey Guys i think it’s more of a Directv problem than a Sony problem
sony or direct tv will be issuing me a partial refund for this
Sony’s selling the product on their platform, so if it’s directv’s problem then it’s Sony’s problem. It’s a partnership and the two companies didn’t have a viable working product ready at launch. They’re both entirely to blame. That said, it’s working well now and everyone who paid $340 for it hopes it stays that way.
I agree cdaddy – given at least half of this week’s games were completely unwatchable, a prorated refund of $10 is the bare minimum any customer should accept.
If they don’t do the $10 voluntarily, there’s always class action, but that would be a lot more expensive for Sony and/or Directv… doesn’t make any sense to go that route.
hey it’s finally working
Got a question about the functionality now that it seems like the system is actually working. Still trying to decide whether to get the package or not (and obviously glad I waited for the kinks to start getting worked out).
Was wondering if there is any DVR capabilities beyond being able to rewind and pause what you are currently watching? Specifically, can you go back and watch the 1pm games now (ie: watch stuff delayed)? Or when you switch to a different 4pm game, can you rewind to watch stuff you hadn’t seen?
Also, just to confirm, if your local station is playing a game, you can’t see it via the PS3, right? Even if it isn’t a local game (ie: in Hawaii, we are getting the Giants/Redskins game on FOX, so I would have to switch from the PS3 to the cable box to see that game, but switch back to the PS3 to see the other games)?
I know you guys are still trying to get the system working and want/deserve to enjoy your working system, but any feedback when you get a chance would be mighty appreciated.

I wouldn’t say it is fixed. i think a lot of people like myself just gave up on it and decided to stick with the locally broadcast games instead. Less users = Less traffic
hows the redzone channel working for some of you? Mine will play for a few minutes then freeze and switch to some earlier footage and then back again
seems like its working, even redzone!! still a bit glitchy and skips to random footage, but VERY bearable.
100 times better than it was. THis is what I was expecting awesome HD football!
It’s been running smoothly for about a hour (no lag and other bizarreness from earlier today).
@fofy21: There is no DVR functionality, but you can view highlights and stats of all of the previous games. Basically like your own sportscenter on-demand review of the games that have already been played.
I know ive said it before but mine seems to be working great now. No red zone but the picture is great wish the first game would have been this good..
How can I get a refund? Hasn’t worked at all. Keep getting spinning circle.
It works but they downgraded the picture. I doubt this is even running at 30 fps. I’m tempted to call to cancel this anyways.
and it freezes again.

IMO, the appropriate statement from Sony to everyone who bought the sunday ticket package before this morning’s enormous cluster-f of a launch would be something that follows this rough outline:
Dear Sunday Ticket Subscriber,
Yada yada massive technical problems at launch yada yada Sony and directv take full responsibility yada yada we’re compensating all of our subscribers as follows yada yada major apologies we’ll take preventative measures in launching new services yada yada tons of customer butt kissing apologetic language yada yada.
this is from sony on its facebook…………………..For those who signed up for NFL Sunday Ticket through DirecTV on their PS3, we’ll be offering a $24.99 credit voucher via a PSN system message this coming week. The DirecTV team is aware of issues and working to resolve the service as quickly as possible.
I don’t want a credit. I want money.
Mine has gone from no functionality to limited functionality. Terrible waste of money.
So we have to follow Sony on facebook to get an update on the situation??

Stuff happens? Stuff like the theft of thousands of people’s 20$ this weekend? Because that’s what it is if they don’t credit it back to everyone. There WILL be a suit if the latter is the case…
DIRECTV has NO problem giving Sunday ticket to people for half off if they threaten to leave or try to remove their auto-renewal. To sit around and take this is not a responsible move.
The late games 4-7pm were very good with no freezing issues , video quality was great, hopefully they have the situation under control for next week. Also its nice of sony to give a 24.99 credit for the problems the ps3 had in streaming the 1-4pm games.
