Coming to PlayStation Plus: Free Content and Discounts Galore, Trials for Ghost Recon and EA Sports MMA

Hi everyone,

First of all, welcome back and many thanks for everyone’s patience as we worked to restore the PlayStation Store! It’s been more than a month now since our last PlayStation Plus update, but with the Store back up and running we have some great announcements about free games, discounts and exclusives for Plus subscribers – all coming to you in two publishes: June 3 and June 7.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to introduce Morgan Haro, Community Manager for PlayStation Network. Morgan joined the PlayStation team back in March and he’ll be answering your questions and offering feedback in the comments section.

Deathspank

Free Games and DLC
PlayStation Plus is offering the PS one title Lilo & Stitch for free on June 7, and the MAG Escalation Mission Pack add-on becomes available for free starting June 3.

Huge Discounts
Plus is offering 50% discounts for Tumble, Shank, Death Spank, Death Spank Thongs of Virtue, and Dead Space Ignition. All prices are listed below.

Exciting Exclusives
The June 3rd publish will excite all the mixed martial arts fans out there as we kick things off with the full-game trial for EA Sports MMA Digital.

The June 3 publish also includes the Resident Evil 4 – 10 Avatar Bundle for $0.99, and the June 7 publish includes the inFAMOUS 2 Dynamic Theme for free!

    For anyone who is unaware of how the real world works Sony is not offering free content because they want to get PAID first. It will take at least 1-2 weeks before the free content is available, why pay for what you can have for free? It’s simple psychology and as foolish as these people are they have a couple brain cells left. Give us what was promised and soon, including the free month of PS Plus.

    I am not a pacifist and indeed I know that the place to do damage is not in this hive of zealots, it is in the areas where consumers are on the fence. People DO look at product reviews, and while people have made up their minds about the PS3 a new computer or TV is something you CAN impact. It does not take much to steer someone away from making a purchase, trust me on that…and if Sony wants to take legal action well, they can go right ahead.

    Enough is enough.

    but your “free” comment other than hulu or PS+(which is a tri-monthly or annual fee) what service did you pay monthly for that was down? Netflix worked the whole time the PSN was down you just had to keep signing in and letting it error out until Netflix loaded(the number of failed sign-ins it took depended on your Internet speed[me 3 times] or i think you could let it fail once and wait for it to load I just kept letting my sign in error out)…I never paid attention to Qriocity so I don’t know how they set up payment for subscription.

    honestly, it makes no difference to me cause i’m getting a full year of playstation plus on my birthday i’m just waiting for the free stuff on playstation home. i’m betting it’ll be coming out around the same time as the live stream at E3

      The Home stuff is going to be great, and they’ll have info on their Welcome Back content access soon. Definitely look forward to the recreation of the SCEA E3 booth in Home as well!

    CoMiN_$_uR_aZz Did you read the blog post? it mentions something about escalation I dont play MAG so Im unsure if it relevant …oh btw what is with the TyPiNg ThInGs lIkE tHiS…..it is almost as bad as 733t sp34k ….Nothing personal @200(didn’t feel like hitting the shift key 8 times to type your username again) I just don’t get it…is it supposed to look cool or something?

    a lot FPS people really want their map packs…I can’t stand FPS not because I think they are bad games…Ii get motion sickness when I play them…I have only forced myself to play through 2 FPS game 1 golden eye on the 64 2 COD modern warfare….amazing games that made me feel like total @#$@ but it was fun before the head ache lol

    It’s great and all but what about the welcome back package for the rest of us that don’t use the store? The “great discounts for playstation plus subscribers” means nothing to us. Perhaps it’s due to us using our hard earned money on other things and not cyber crap.

    if anyone could help me with this issue it would be much appreciated… im tryin to help my brother get his ps3 back on psn, hes been gone for awhile and just hooked back up to get online. so he tried to reset his password from ps3 and now he gets email to change at website. now the site to change password is down for maintenance. is there any other way to change password? or is he S.O.L until site comes back up? thanks …

    @Shanedaman76 this isn’t the welcome back package it is a deal going on for three days. I’m not a plus subscriber either but I’ll have a free month with the WBP (welcome back package=WBP now) also everyone is getting free rentals and 2 free games for your PS3 or PSP(I wonder if I could get one game on each…hmm)…and maybe some other stuff…oh a bunch of PS home stuff….When they implement it no one knows they are probably ironing out the details on how exactly to implement it. So chill out Shane we all spend our hard earned cash in the PSN store and in the not so virtual world….well some of us there are some cheap people who just want free stuff They get rather annoying at times(not everyone asking about the WBP is cheap I’m not talking trash in fact I’ve been helping people figure out how to deal with errors since I woke up yesterday I’m glad the errors stopped finally lol)

    @radar427 Morgan is the new hire yes but mods have been answering on threads since the outage but they were/are limited on information they can only answer what they are allowed to.

    Everyone asking about the black ops release that is an Activision title Sony wont know a release until Activision wants to release it on the PSN. You may have better luck asking them or talking to customer support on the actual PSN site…The PSN blog isn’t the best place to get answers. Plus ppl can be out right @$@$@%#s on here.

    no its not part of welcome back but the maps were released to sony a month ago so as to where they are? my opinion if u support the biggest title made then u should be willing to compensate your customers for the time without what the game developer promises. Xbox has them….

    @twistedraisin also @Everyone this is NOT the WBP! it is a update for the store and PS+ subscribers read the blog and all of Morgans replies…seriously If you read you will find more answers than you think So please everyone relax Sony will announce the WBP by calling it such…except not WMP they will spell out Welcome Back Package….NOT welcome back here is a update and a heads up on some special offers…. Sony I think you made a mistake by saying “welcome back” some people on here are misunderstanding this blog post and I can sort of understand since a lot of people are all hyped up waiting for the WBP.

    @radar427 I’m sure sony is trying to get it uploaded onto the store server it takes time…trust me they are a business they want to make money and they make money by us buying stuff. Ask activision if they would be willing to offer something…who knows maybe PS3 owners will get an exclusive item with the addon who knows…you may get nothing I’m just tossing out random thoughts at this point…. =/

    I haven’t read much about MAG nor seen any of it. Is it a FPS? (Yea huge title but I’m a jrpg rpg action adventure survival horror and my all time favorite Strategy/tactical RPG gamer…you know the lvl grinding type…example : The Disgaea franchise…I also play imported Japanese games so back to my Q is MAG FPS?
