  • Come on Douglas it’s just a game—-network. No hard feelings, that’s why the internet is fun, we can all hide at home and throw dookie at each other all day and night with no threat of anyone knowing who we really are.

    Non related issue.
How would people act on the internet if everytime you posted it showed your picture and current address?
    Just asking?

  • If Sony puts on Brave Fencer Musashi, Legend of Dragoon, Final Fantasy 5&6, Tomba 1 and 2 and puts on Eternal Eyes THEN I will forgive them for this ordeal otherwise it’s a no go.

  • Hahaha..wow Sony. You kept going on saying that PSN would be fully restored by May 31st, now your saying it will be restored by the end of the week. That could be until June 5th!!! -_-‘

Its not really a huge deal.. all we can do is wait as you continue working on the full restore, I just wish you would have pinpointed a better timeframe on when it would be fully restored. We (The gamers) take your words seriously, so you should make sure you back it up, and dont be off by even a fraction.

    Keep up the good work.

  • actually it could be from now until sunday

  • @Divinasdaemon A+ doesn’t cover all that much networking. Cisco however that gets respect. I myself have a Bachelor degree in computer science(want to get a masters in engineering) I am Linux, Network +, A +, Security +, MCP, CCNA, CCNP certified. I would take my ethical Hacking cert. but I don’t like all the baggage it comes with it.

  • To everyone insulting Sony for not getting the store up by tomorrow (which is still possible, by the way…) they said that was their GOAL! NOT THE SET DEADLINE!! Seriously, Sony doesn’t just have a crystal ball that tells them when features will go back up. They guess, based on their current progress, and if they don’t meet their deadline then they provide a new one based on their new progress.

All that said, THANK YOU SONY, for getting the store back up! Hopefully you improved the security a lot, because I’ve seen reports on various gaming websites saying that hackers are planning more attacks on Sony…

  • I like Linux. Its not Miscrosoft and thats why i like it.

  • okay the biggest thing I am seeing here is a big complaint about “not holding to the schedule they set forth for services roll-out”. they never claimed that total services were going to be up and running at any time before this they stated they will restore the services as they come available. this is the first time they have stated that the remaining services are being restored. So those of you clinging to the statement in quotes above need to better research your complaints before making your statement.

@328 you may have a degree in computer business but do you have experience in total business? (and by that I mean ALL aspects of the business world) Oh, and did you get to sit in and look at how bad the network was hit when they were attacked? Did you personally oversee the damage assessment? Because if you did then, and only then, can you validate your statement. you don’t know exactly how hard they were hit, so… I don’t know… maybe check your sources before you start typing?

  • Citrean how am I harassing anyone? I have made no unjust comments towards anyone unless they were harassing people and I called them on it…I think I did that once anyway. I will say it again. I just WISH people understood the industry a bit more and maybe they wouldn’t be as upset…..sheesh oh you going to pre-order disgaea 4 on NISAs Site? they have some cool stuff for the collectors editions(noticed your Etna Avatar)

  • @338 I pose the same question to you.

Oh and by the way I would be saying the same things… My goal is to try to let people see all sides of an issue.

  • @Snakeauthority Linux is the best lol I’m running Debian right now.

  • I have always liked Ubuntu. I have tried many like Fedora, Mint and PCLinux Os.

  • Hey I have an Idea! why don’t we all stop the pointless arguments and try to get along? We are all gamers.

  • i not kwon be up TOMORROW or not hope it is to day

  • @snakeauthority Ubuntu is based on Debian…It is a good OS. I also us PHLAK at work for security reasons. I like Slackware as well …fedora is okay.

  • I do have a question Null. I set up a raid but not all of my storage is there. How much storage can 2 hard drives in a raid have? I done a raid 0 by the way.

  • When did I say anything about the severity of the issue and intrusion on their network? I said we the consumers have a right to be upset they still haven’t gotten back up and running.
I must have slept through that meeting though, cuz it was BORING and my little brain couldn’t keep up with all the techno whiz jargon they were spewing out.

Experience in “total business” did you call it? Well lets see I managed a research center, and dealt with corporate info all day every day, everything from startup, hiring, training, firing, setting up the entire network to be accessed from anywhere in the U.S. by someone with the proper credentials. I worked with AMEX and other financial advisers all the time and hey eventually I even got fired. But no I wouldn’t know anything about “total business”
I bow to your superior reasoning and intellect

  • @331

Just using colorful commentary bro. Still I feel somewhat better about the situation by venting on here. Honestly even if your familiar in the field I doubt anybody speculate how long it will take (unless they work for Sony tech team). My beef with Sony is the lack of communications since the incident started and timely announcements on any complications. The whole thing is just bad business on their part, and I’m sure their wallets are suffering for it. I’ll still buy all their stuff this gen, but I have to take serious consideration on the next gen. Its true that all major companies are vulnerable to cyber attacks, but Sony’s handling of the situation is beyond abysmal. Just my insight as a consumer.

  • how big is your hard drives

  • So the question is how would I act if my info were posted? The same, cuz I stand by what I believe in. I paid for stuff I want my stuff and you nor anyone else can stop my ranting if I so choose. Just happens to be that the internet gives you a bigger audience.

  • Put some speed on it.

  • umm 1TB and 640GB

  • @Null_Shock…I agree broheem…

  • *yawn*

  • Instead of saying end of may they meant to say beginning of june lol but hey I am glad its coming up soon

  • they really meant before e3, they dont wanna get laughed off stage

  • @snakeauthority how much is missing? And why raid 0? you lose one drive you lose it all. It is good on a performance level but I’d go raid 5 (personal preference)

  • @snakeauthority add me and we can talk in more detail about your raid setup I’d like to know your PCs Specs. I have to crash now I’ve work in 5 hours need to get a little sleep.

  • ok will do Null_Shock

  • Let’s see how much of my message remains after ‘moderation’….

  • Okay, I’ll save them the work….

“Congrats to all you guys, but still a big ‘Boooooo’ to Sony for not only seeming to ignore Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong, but for again failing to give a single word of information about it.

The Asian PS website doesn’t even have a forum. ‘What’ is up with you Sony?? I know it’s been a huge hassle for you, but that is not excuse to treat a minority of your customers like ‘poop’. Or is that just it? A minority, so they don’t count?

And yes, I know governments of those regions are making things harder, but why does that mean you can’t give users any info? What, is there a gagging order imposed on your customer services department?

Again, I’m happy for the rest of you guys, but seriously. Sony = Total ‘Balls’ right now. :/

  • So…it’s not coming back tomorrow? Big surprise Sony…big surprise. Well, you know what they say “If you can’t beat ’em, JOIN ‘EM!” PC gaming here I come! After I download Sony’s “free games” to boost the value of my console it’s going on Craigslist! :D

  • Can’t wait!

  • @anon

Agreed. I buy original games, because I want to support Sony and do the right thing.

But they are not supporting the customers in my region, so why should I bother spending the money? I can buy new PS3 games for less than US$1, just 5 minutes from my house.

I’m not a thief, but if Sony doesn’t give me any other choice, what can I do?

  • Thought it’d be tomorrow? Oh well. I’m patient. I’ll just throw my money at Steam again in the meanwhile.

  • You guys cry like no other honestly…

  • @371

If the company won’t support you, then don’t support them. You have no obligation to them. If they won’t cater to you, then go to someone who will. Simple as that really.

  • Well lets see…. in april we were told PSN will resume fully…then they said another week…we said wait a few days, no problems – they said sorry, end of month – ok another few weeks – then the 24th…ok AWSOME – then official blog saying by the 31st end of month…now its the 31st… another week guys, almost there… any1 else feel like your being jerked around, to wait just a lil longer? well that “lil bit longer” is running on over a month now or setbacks, this is really poor service IMHO, and I really want to do things on the store and USE the game i bought (dirt 3) to the full extent, sony is stealing money from me each time they delay it further.

  • BTW, Sony didn’t say ‘another week’ for you guys. They said “by the end of this week.”

  • @375

I know, but it’s not really that simple, is it? I have invested time and money into something, and can’t so easily just switch to another provider.

It’s not like changing carrier or mobile brand. :(

  • @Null_Shock…
At last *falling down crying desperate* *HUGS* smart people are still alive.
    @Deathspear666
Actually Network and Security was just Network Security – one huge topic which does take long to dig down and takes a lot of money from my wallet for 4 years for my Master Degree and all of My Network based Certifications.. Because if I sum all money spend on IT Ed. probably could buy 250.000 stock shares of Sony

But my professor always teach us: “you have 1 attempt for your mistake that is forgivable if it will repeat you probably want to quit it forever, but since you all going to work in government sector you will probably want to shot your self.. So message is clear: be the one yo brake it be first to fix it and NEVER EVER LET YOURSELF DOWN “

  • This friday huh so much for may 31st eh sony smh always late y’all are really slow motion and i bet this e3 still no damn cross game chat smh… just refuse to listen to your consumers it seems to me.

  • Fantastic! Thank you for some definite words, but this is not really acceptable. All you have done is given us another vague deadline.

To those who say “But they are saying this week! That means THIS WEEK!” I would like to remind you all that before this, they said “This month” and if the store doesn’t come online today, that did not mean “This month” it actually meant “next month” – in other words, their words mean nothing to me at this point unless they give a HARD DATE, such as saying “Definitely 5/31” or “Definitely 6/3” etc…

Sony, you are out of credit at my house, so while I will be very glad to see the store come up, and will continue to give you my dollars, especially since the repayment you are giving us is way more than fair, I will not trust your word on things until you prove yourselves again. I hope that day comes sooner than later.

    Thank you.

  • Didn’t Jeff say that more information would be given when they were 100% sure of when the Store would be up? If they are 100% SURE, why can’t they give us an exact date?

  • i wasn’t surprised sony would spoil us … sure i got quite frustrated when we had to wait nearly a month but we should appreciate the fact its free to play online unlike xbox =}

  • @igorrocks2 lol a Fellow IT Geek I see. add me sometime. …I really need to get to sleep….my computer is so f r a k i n g distracting

  • @383

But is it really ‘free’? Isn’t the fact that we have PSN included in the price we pay for the console itself, in the games we buy and the dollars we then spend in the actual store?

We have all, one way or another, invested money in PSN. So i think the term ‘free’ is a bit of a misnomer here….

  • @354 There is no reason to get THAT upset. I ASKED you what your experience was. Not my fault you took it personally. I was trying to assess the amount of experience you have.

Also, I never claimed to have a superior intellect. I myself am still learning like the rest of the planet. Just the curiosity and experience to know that you should have all sides of the issue (hence me asking about experience and credentials). now that I know where you are coming from I have a better understanding of your frustration.

I also never claimed to state that the consumer cannot complain, they have every right!

If someone came into your office and started to make wild accusations without asking your side first (which I did) you yourself would be a little upset that he/she started to make these wild accusations without knowing the whole story. that is all I ask of anyone.

Please research your statement before committing to it.

I am all for people asking questions… How else will we all learn?

  • @384

Very true… there is a cost involved somewhere nothing is totally free, but when compared to “Microshaft” the PSN “seems” free (no monthly subscription)

  • Omg…. People here say: Good Job Sony? Why take it so long? Why is this Message only on the US Blog? Why we get only 60 Days for Plus Members? <- We loses already 41, by end of the Week it will be 45 Days. Wow we got a "Welckome Back" of 15 Days for paid Content.
