Last year, we invited three hundred fans into our press conference. This year, we’re shooting for a million.
You’ve been requesting it, so for the first time, we’ll be broadcasting the entirety of the PlayStation press conference directly into this Blog. Additionally, we’re setting up a mini-studio in the PlayStation booth, and we’ll be bringing in developers while the show floor is open for interviews, live demos and to answer your questions via a built-in chat module. It all starts right here on June 6th.
UPDATE: We’ve got several hundred more entries than we’ve got spots open, so we’re cutting off the entries now. We’ll grade the papers over the next few days and contact winners by email. Thanks for entering!
Since this is an LA event, we’d still like to do something for some of our Southern California fans. Because our press conference is already at capacity, we unfortunately won’t be able to get anyone into building (again, everyone can watch the livestream right here). However, we were able to secure over one hundred 3-day passes to the E3 Expo, where attendees can visit our booth and go hands-on with NGP and our stellar PS3 lineup as a guest of PlayStation.
We want to make sure only the biggest local PlayStation fans get in, so instead of having folks queue up in the unpredictable Spring weather (as has been the case in past years), we’ve created a web quiz you can take from the comfort of [wherever you are sitting].
Here are a few things to note:
- E3 takes place from June 7-9th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, so you’ll obviously need to be in SoCal during that time to attend. Don’t bother taking the quiz if you won’t be there!
- You must be 18 or older to attend E3 – that’s their rule! Your ID will be checked when you go to pick up your badge, so if you’re under 18… don’t bother taking the quiz!
- E3 badges are non-transferable, so if you’re not sure if you’re going to be able to attend… don’t bother taking the quiz!
- The information we’re asking for (name & email address only) is required for all attendees by the ESA, who run the E3 Expo. We won’t ask for any additional info!
- We’ll grade quizzes and select winners by late next week, and contact winners via email with information on how to pick up your passes.

Lord_Ka1n …I think you people constantly complaining that you don’t have access to the store is more childish than the rest of us that are tired of people flooding the thread….It’s about gaming and if you want to know about the store talk to customer service instead of posting on the blog that has nothing to do with the store at the moment….that would be the intelligent thing to do.

and maybe, just maybe if there actually was a blog about the store then maybe we would post there, but there isnt. they havent said a damn thing since it came back up.
I don’t mean to be a nag, but could you specify if the PS Store will be up by tomorrow or Tuesday or not? Also, what kind of content will we be seeing?

There ARE Playstation faithful on the East Coast, you know… Would love to go do E3 this year, or any year for that matter. Even the ones from past years.
CaptenMidnite Do you have any knowledge on how much work that goes into rebuilding those services? if not you really shouldn’t be judging the people working on bringing the service back up.

Sure would have been nice to have the store available over the four day Memorial Day Holiday weekend. (Everyone’s thinking it, I’m just saying it.)
I like the idea that E-3 will be streamed live, but I was hoping this post would have been more about the store.

this question is for Jeff, or anyone else that knows, Did you all announce who won the trip to E3 from the rewards beta? I didn’t see anything about it and I was wondering about it. It would have been nice to all of us that hit legendary, could have been invited to E3, I’m sure there wasn’t a lot of us.

microsoft doesnt even have exclusives anymore. you have to pay a game a year for almost the exact same online, it has dvd format, it has ugly, huge, controllers with batteries *they still make those?*, cords, and a dyslexic button layout. and then theres that joke kinect

Can’t wait. I’m still waiting to hear if any publishers picked up the Highlander game I read about in PTOM like, 3 years ago. It looked amazing, especially with the PS3’s superior tech. And with the Move, it could be a GOTY if done right. Any idea if it’s still in the works? Or was it canned?
it is very pointless, they never respond to anything after the second page and their responses never tell us a damn thing. but i shouldve had honest hearts 2 weeks ago, i cant just sit here and say nothing

The “Its going to be up when its up” statement was made to point out that very obvious it will be up so it is pointless to complain. This argument is now boring me. Read my last post…Also if you can debate intelligently add me. I’m always up for an intelligent debate especially if it is about Computer Technology (but no Mac VS Windows because Linux wins…except for gaming then that goes to PC regardless of OS(MACs are PCs)
well, considering the ps3 didnt come out until like a year later, and were just recently owning them games-wise, i dont think it wouldve happened quite that fast

Wow! Streaming E3? Are you sure no one will hack you on that day Sony? Who cares? How about a store update! I must say you should be embarrassed by your customer service the last month and a half. The federal government is more transparent than you’ve been over the last 6 weeks. It took you over a week to announce our credit card info was hacked. Your last PSN/Store update was weeks ago, other than a maitenance update. Add to that the fact that you had to hire outside firms to investigate the breach and it all adds up to me that you don’t take your customers security seriously. Or maybe the bottom was more important than properly staffing your IT team? The fact of the matter is it looks as though you didn’t have any sort of contigency plan in place. I hope your stockholders are smart and fire the CEO and demand the firing of your head of IT and your entire PR team. Openess and honesty is the way you run a successful business. Silence and paltry gifts is how you run a dictatorship when it is in trouble. The Middle East has given us plenty of examples of that this year. I wonder how Microsofts’ customer service is.

On previous years some websites have been overwhelmed with users trying to watch the conferences making the streaming of the video slow. Do you think the PS blog can handle all that traffic? Also is it going to have a good quality? Ill probably will watch it here on the blog then, unless the streaming is slow or bad.

@ Lord_Ka1n, if you look at it from a pure release date stance, then sure. But if everyone knew just how horrible it was and still is and how at first it wasn’t even true HD, but just an interlaced facsimile, nobody except the biggest posuer casual gamers who are seemingly doing their best to ruin the industry by eating up every terrible P.O.S. game that comes out like all the CoD’s after Big Red 1 (I mean c’mon, they’re not even trying anymore. If you can release a “new” installment every 9 months that’s really just a shiny re-hash full of game-breaking MP glitches, someone’s being super lazy). Not to mention people are still dumb enough to claim that LIVE is better than PSN just because they think if you pay for it, it must be better. Hell, even the Wii is better than the 360, it just doesn’t have many games that aren’t for kids and casuals.
@ dragonlibrarian. Too bad dabears doesn’t know what he’s talking about. I bet he doesn’t even remember that LIVE was hacked already and Micro$oft was far worse about it than Sony has been. Not to mention if Sony didn’t care, why would we all be getting like, $100 in free stuff when the store’s back up?
All Micro$oft gave was one game that was so horrible and not worth it that I can’t even be arsed to remember the name. They’re the ones that don’t give a damn about their customers because their customers are stupid enough to keep giving them money no matter what. And once and for all let me put the rumor to rest. The only dedicated servers that LIVE has are for the Marketplace, games themselves are P2P unless the devs create their own dedicated servers. Same thing for PS3 (PS Store, the network itself and Home are dedicated), the only difference is PS3 owners are smart enough to NOT get hoodwinked into paying money for it.
really, the only thing live has than psn doesnt is that overrated cross game chat. is that really worth a game a year to you?
Cross-game chat is highly over-rated….if you want to chat while you’re gaming just call the person and use your ps bluetooth head-set….I don’t know why want to chat during games anyway it distracts from the experience(especially when it isn’t even the same game) and prevent immersion.
And if you want it that badly go get an POS xbox and pay sub fees for live.
