Last year, we invited three hundred fans into our press conference. This year, we’re shooting for a million.
You’ve been requesting it, so for the first time, we’ll be broadcasting the entirety of the PlayStation press conference directly into this Blog. Additionally, we’re setting up a mini-studio in the PlayStation booth, and we’ll be bringing in developers while the show floor is open for interviews, live demos and to answer your questions via a built-in chat module. It all starts right here on June 6th.
UPDATE: We’ve got several hundred more entries than we’ve got spots open, so we’re cutting off the entries now. We’ll grade the papers over the next few days and contact winners by email. Thanks for entering!
Since this is an LA event, we’d still like to do something for some of our Southern California fans. Because our press conference is already at capacity, we unfortunately won’t be able to get anyone into building (again, everyone can watch the livestream right here). However, we were able to secure over one hundred 3-day passes to the E3 Expo, where attendees can visit our booth and go hands-on with NGP and our stellar PS3 lineup as a guest of PlayStation.
We want to make sure only the biggest local PlayStation fans get in, so instead of having folks queue up in the unpredictable Spring weather (as has been the case in past years), we’ve created a web quiz you can take from the comfort of [wherever you are sitting].
Here are a few things to note:
- E3 takes place from June 7-9th at the Los Angeles Convention Center, so you’ll obviously need to be in SoCal during that time to attend. Don’t bother taking the quiz if you won’t be there!
- You must be 18 or older to attend E3 – that’s their rule! Your ID will be checked when you go to pick up your badge, so if you’re under 18… don’t bother taking the quiz!
- E3 badges are non-transferable, so if you’re not sure if you’re going to be able to attend… don’t bother taking the quiz!
- The information we’re asking for (name & email address only) is required for all attendees by the ESA, who run the E3 Expo. We won’t ask for any additional info!
- We’ll grade quizzes and select winners by late next week, and contact winners via email with information on how to pick up your passes.

I’m glad, finally the days of G4 being the only E3 view-place are over.
I think at E3 they should tell all the developers who make RPG games (and other games that follow a story) for the PS3 to focus more on the story of their games not the graphics cuz lately some of the next gen RPG’s have sucked hardcore with lack of a decent story, graphics are the problem too. yea there good/awesome but because of that devs lose focus on the story which all RPG’s are suppose to have a well developed one. when it comes to RPG’s it should go story > graphics = audio. almost all other genres and are fine since they for the most part dont need a well developed story or one at all for that matter. but in RPG’s they are the base of the whole game. without a good one it doesnt matter how awesome the graphics are, suck game is a suck game.

Only 2 days until the end of the month, shouldn’t you guys have some kind of update on the store by now??!! I went and bought a $50 psn card friday because I didn’t think you guys were stupid enough to miss your may 31 deadline, but now I’m not too sure. I really hope you guys get store up by E3 at least or you guys will get destroyed. It’s gonna be bad enough already. Hope you guys have some huge surprises at E3. Maybe an exclusive big budget rpg? Or better yet pull a microsoft and throw money at bethesda to make skyrim ps3 exclusive.
Well, I can’t go to E3, so I guess I’ll just watch it online.
P.S. Everyone shut up about the store! It will be up in the next couple of days! Also, this isn’t even the place to be discussing about it.

Any chance the quiz/entries will be open again? Seems like people still entered even though they won’t be able to make it out to LA for the event. I’m going to E3 because I work in the industry but my boyfriend (who just might love video games more than I do) wanted to enter for a chance to go with me and share the awesome experience. I don’t know why people are so impatient with the store. Hell, yea I want the store to be up to so me and my friend can download Little Big Planet and smack my brothers Sackboy around, but you don’t see me or other patient people like Mr. DQ8MAN being big babies about the whole ordeal, and saying “oh if this keeps up I’ll be switching to the 360”. The only people who care about you switching to the 360 is you. Why don’t you just suck it up for a little while longer, Sony is doing the BEST they can do to please people, but these things take time. You know how when you try to change the security settings on many files/folders at once on your computer or change then to be read-only/hidden it takes a LONG time? Well to make it possible for ALL of sony’s customers to have the ability to download 2 games each for there accounts, 30-day membership to ps+ and qriosity, its gonna take a LONG time. Especially since last I knew sony had over 75,000,000 accounts on there servers combined. Imagine applying the a read-only change to 75,000,000 files/folders on your computer. How long do you think that would probably take?

I mean it’s been at least a couple weeks since they’ve told us anything. And where is the right place to discuss it? It’s actually kinda insulting when all we want is an update, and all we get is ” It will be up soon”. We’ve been getting the same answer for a month now.

From what I have read the store should be up Tuesday the 31st of May that was a promise that Sony made if not it will turn away fans and developers….and also it would be pretty wrong to have E3 but not ps store…

Hi Jeff. Is there any chance you could post the time the conference goes live for each region. Or at least a countdown timer? Those of us who live outside the US more than likely will have to get up really early to watch it live.

I love my PS3, I went through 3 xb360’s in about 7 months before i gave up on microsoft. My ps3 has been running perfectly for over 2 years. knock on wood.

Well, that’s one person. And my PS3 has been working for over three years now. My dad has my original PS3 and that one is still working perfectly for him and he’s had that one for a couple more months then I’ve had my current one.

looking foward for E3 all year i have watched it always get impressed or sometimes not well but i had a ps3 since it wnet out and ps1 and ps2 and psp 3000 and this hack attack was the worse ive seen but still sony best team and every thing its free and get good server well done SCEA i guees the sotre will be back up this week with the maintence and happy every one great j Sony i really love the company

Finally I don’t have to listen to G4 or Adam Sessler’s bias coverage. They are so pro xbox it sicken me. They hype ever microsft announcement while downplaying Sony’s. They make Gears of War and Halo sound like end all be all of the show. Reply Microsoft twice last year and aired Sony’s once. Then seem to make all multiplatformer games sound like xbox exclusive. And all Sony announcements seem boring. Sessler himself say that there was nothing new here that wasn’t announced at GDC. So thank you for sparring me that this year.
Well, the store is suppose to be up tomorrow. Big deal. As of yesterday, my playstation 3 won’t read blu-rays. I’ll have to wait until July to get a new one. Thanks Sony for waiting so long to get the store up. By the time I get a new playstation all that free stuff isn’t gong to be worth anything. Thank you.
