Starting today, PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States can begin the enrollment process for the identity theft protection program by visiting http://us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/identity-theft-protection/. We are also notifying customers of the enrollment landing page via email, which you will receive in your inbox this week.
As previously announced, Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment have made arrangements with Debix to offer the AllClear ID PLUS identity theft protection program to PlayStation Network and Qriocity customers who are concerned about identity theft following the criminal cyber attack on the network. AllClear ID PLUS is a premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect you from identity theft. The service also provides identity theft insurance coverage and hands-on help from expert fraud investigators. Sony has arranged, at no charge to eligible PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders, for twelve months of this service to be provided by Debix to those who choose to enroll.
In order to be eligible, account holders must be residents of the United States with active accounts as of April 20, 2011.
@495 Well put Sir!
@496 Does anything you siad excuse Sony’s lack of communication? NO IT DON’T.
@497 I concur sir
I think that Sony should bring the store back up ASAP, if their concern is people’s credit card info then do not store it anywhere for now. On the Wii it asks for the info every purchase so it is obvious that they do not store the info. They could just not let any credit card info be entered right now, but at least we could download demo’s and even get a playstation card if we wanted to buy something.
@495 I think you just might be a super-geniues. I hate being told to stop complaining, when I feel I have the right. Especially when everyone else is saying things like “It’ll be up, when it’s ready.” What kind of stupid answer is that? And let me point out, Sony has been saying the end of May since this whole thing started, or at least after their first predictions failed. After a month, we still get the same answer of “Soon” and “We’ll keep you posted” NOT one bit of information describing if it’s going good, or we might have to wait longer. Not good business it seems to me.
@ 500 do you need someone to tell you what make believe means he was being SARCASTIC do you understand that he wasnt defending read before you post
@504 No I need you to go rinse your mouth out with buckshot real quick k.
and i need you to go back to school k you obviously didn’t learn much while you were there
I’m growing bored with my ps3…..
@506 oh I forgot YOUR the smart one here arn’t you. Your doging everyone that is trying to get answers from Sony and I’m the one that needs to go back to school.. ok buddy if you say so.
and your posts are they getting you anywhere i thought not so your way is going good than
Has it occured to anyone that SONY can probably write off ‘losses’ on their taxes? By waiting until the beginning of their fiscal year to start the playstation store back up they maximize the losses they can write off.
Whether we buy the content now or we buy the content a week from now doesn’t really matter earnings wise to SONY. They know we are still going to buy the content. They are not going to be out a whole lot of money by waiting.
They ARE going to be out ‘projected losses’ that can probably be written off. Corporations have lots of wonderful tax loopholes that us poor joe’s can only dream about. I can just imagine the accountants explaining to the execs how much money can be recovered from tax loopholes if you make your customers wait ‘just a little longer’. Obviously they can’t tell us about this plan because it would make everyone really mad.
Doesn’ it seem a bit coincidental that the store is ‘probably’ coming back up right at the beginning of their fiscal year?
on my original post i didnt defend sony i was defending japan cause someone said their standards were low and all i said was dont generalize and you said i was holding sonys nuts with my tongue which shows you are real inteligent to start with in not dogging no one unless they reply at my post so if you dont want an answer dont post
Brazil will have a store? and we will get the welcome back gift?
@510 Well something like that would certainly answer some questions..
lilcanuck your a queer that can’t even spell ‘then’
That wasn’t me that said you were holding Sony’s nuts in your mouth dumb a $ $
des anyone know when the playstation store will be back online
lmao ouch my feelings are hurt oops i made a typing error and you never mistype a thing
I Want My Castlevania Resurrection Dlc =)
Wow all u ppl complaining about canada shhhhhhhhhhhhh. Itll all come to u soon..
I can’t thank you enough sony , but please can you tell us when PS3 STORE will be back up ?!
Thank you
Hate to say it Nick, but he had it right. “Than” is used for comparison with somethine else. IE and your posts are they getting you anywhere i thought not so your way is going good than the other’s. “Then” is time.
Thank you SONY for the free identity theft offer. Thank you for allowing us free access to the PSN and all services (when working!) !!! Out of the duration of my time with ps3’s I’ve had one system fail (RED LIGHT OF DEATH PUT A HOLE RIGHT IN MY WALLET!!!) and the network has been down twice. I can’t say with complete certainty… but I’m pretty sure SONY does not mean to have the store down any longer than it is HELL, IT MAKES THEM MONEY! I look at these posts and there is a whole lotta [DELETED] going on. I’m waiting for my d/l content too, I had stuff purchased I cannot touch till it returns!!! Still I really think they’d rather have the store up and running just as much as us if not more because it’s a sure fire way to keep a good cash flow! Comments like “Sony let the world down” and such are just stupid, really? because you can’t give them your money or redeem a “free” code they let the world down? And here I thought the PS3 had more of an adult audience… Why don’t all of you Nay Sayers go out and buy a 360 or a WII stop your immature threats and go PAY to access their online features, then PAY them more for their d/ls. Good Riddance.
@ I’m not sure I agree with that but lets move on.
ok read back and im sorry i thought it was you i am not being sarcastic it was my mistake
All the conspiracy theories are both fun and sad.
For one, the games being offered were published by Sony, so it costs them little to give them to us for free. I know some, well, MANY of you were expecting better and if publishers agreed to it more might have been shown, but the trick is getting publishers to agree to it, and many probably wouldn’t. I’m personally happy for the choices offered since I’m a late adopter.
As for the store, it’s better to put it up when it’s ready and Sony is sure that the economy is secure rather than hastily only to have some idiot greedy hacker bring it down AGAIN.
And I’m pretty sure that a lot of the perks we’re getting won’t start their clocks until there’s a point to them, as I don’t think Sony is quite THAT stupid and knows to tread lightly right now.
Sony has never had anything like this happen before, thus no idea how to handle it. As for people joining that class action, enjoy your short cash grab.
It’s okay Nick. I’m still with you on the whole store thing.
sony great job just one rquest can you guy disable all the VIP pass stuff until PS store is back i just got dirt 3 the 24th and i cant go online with out redeeming the vip pass so can you guy please help a loyal supporter out here
@523 So because I don’t own a gun, I shouldn’t know about gun safety? IT’s like that lady that sued McDonalds over the hot coffee. She didn’t know there was a chance it could be hot? Sony didn’t know that hackers are out there? I believe all this is the hackers fault. If it wasn’t for them trying to get in, they wouldn’t have. But I don’t thnk it’s fair letting Sony off of the hook because of their “ignorance.”
@523 Well I was thinking they should just give us store credit to spend how we please.. I mean what about the people who already own those games? As far as all the rest of the things you said they still don’t excuse their nondisclosure of information and lack of communication.
When Is The Store Up
and i agree with that they should have known earlier because for a couple of days before it was hit and miss to be able to sign in which should have prompted an investigation what was up
i cant even sign in.. it says error 80710D23..
What if you didnt put a credit card or debit card on the store are you still eligible for this program?
Also 5 HOURS OF E3 CONFERENCE!!!!! HOLY CRAP!!!
Any idea when the playstation store will be back online? Some sort of time frame by any chance?
Thanks for the additional 2 months on my PS+ account… but it kinda sucks that my games are still going to expire before my PS+ expires. I have only a few days left :(
boy…. some of you truned into spoilled little brats! @nick9221 NO IF THAY DID THAT THAY WILL GO BANKRUPED
Thanks sony
in this week comes ps store back. why are everyone asking that ? ps3 is life ? better wait and play play online
storeplz
thanks or everything u r doing sony these peaple need to stop playing around cause all they do is hurt us the consumer with this crap
@527
Believe me, I’d have vastly preferred some store credit too.
@534 Yea I guess I am spoiled because I live in a country where when you pay for something you at least get to find out when your gona get it.
I’m so n00b
i am not noob my brother is noob !
but in this week comes ps3 store back
is that rite raasuke2? because Sony says their targeting the end of the month. Not it will be back at the end of the month.
It’s pathetic that so many people keep whining. Like someone said earlier, where has it gotten you? Nowhere. Yes, you have every right to complain, it’s a free country, capitalism, blah blah… Still makes you look immature. Give Sony a break. They are based in Japan, which has suffered a natural disaster and on top of that a nuclear disaster. Yes, it was a few months ago, but they are still recovering and will be for a long time; you may have forgotten about it but they have not. All of you need to stop whining about a virtual store and think about what is more important, like the lives of all of the people in Japan. Americans are always me, me, me and never think about other countries and that is why other countries hate us. It’s pathetic and embarrassing. This US blog was updated much more frequently than any of the others during the outage. Did anyone notice that??? You always think someone owes you something. They are a corporation and choose to produce these products and don’t owe you anything. They are trying to make their customers happy, but apparently they have to give you the freakin’ world in order to do so.
I’ve said this many times and I’ll say it again: Thank you, Sony. I appreciate the gesture.
@534 I’m sorry sir I didn’t realize you were Sony’s finacial advisor,my mistake.
Man i cant you guys how many CoD fan boys will be pissed if the store isnt up by the time the new DLC is released your gonna lost maybe 1million or more customers if you dont … lol
I want my free Game already im bored with what i have already.
