PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance today, from about 8am until approximately 5pm Pacific time. During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process. While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).
For those asking about the PlayStation Store, we’re still targeting restoration of all services by the end of this month. Contrary to reports, the Store will not be publishing today.

Well – I am a loyal Sony customer – TVs, A/V equipment, cameras etc. I think this experience, at least insofar as the PSP goes, shows that you CANNOT supply content SOLELY through the web and the playstation store. I bought two PSPGos for my two sons which they received on Easter Sunday. Surprise surprise, little did I know that these would be paperweights for the last month and a half. There were discs for the three free games in the [package except the disc is only the validation code. Why not actually include the game that could be downloaded to the PS via computer. I am really trying to be patient but I think Sony needs to seriously consider providing game via disc. I know the issue will be piracy but given the controls that seem available for other platforms, I can’t imagine that they don’t have a way to deal with this. I am patiently waiting as I very much prefer Sony to the other lame (Nintendo) handheld, but my wife and kids are not as patient. PLEASE get the store back up before the end of the month!

Listen, I’ve been VERY Patient with this, I have $50 to PSN and I REALLY want to spend it. I bought MK9 just for online, now I know its back up, but I like 6 redeem codes for characters. I can deal with that, but Im just baffled that you knew about the lie about the stores opening today and you did NOTHING to disprove it in anyway. I actually was looking forward to buying stuff for my games, but you did nothing to stop it

Oh – one more thing – please make sure you have enough servers on line to deal with the coming FLOOD of requests for downloads. Might I also suggest that you delay the introduction of new games for a couple of days to deal with the initial flood of reloads, etc. I’m guessing that this is sacrilege to hard core gamers but better that than having so much demand that no one can get anything downloaded. Please let’s not have a repeat of teh start up problems from last week……… Thus concludes my “rant”.

Sony has really disappointed me. Three days after psn came back up, my ps3 broke. No big deal, it was still under warranty. But when they sent me a refurbished one, it would connect to the internet at all. After calling sony, they said i would have to send it in. Really? Do you not bother to fully check your refurbished ps3’s before sending them out?

To T-Bones420: It doesn’t matter how you say it, how you reword it or etc. Sony is offering you FREE stuff that they’d rather sell. And what you’re saying is that the people in the pool of 50 million PS3 players that were interested in those 5 free games, or PS+ have already gotten it? Are you freaking serious? And your 5th reason is just plain stupid in all honesty. It’s like me saying: “I really want to get this 50 inch T.V, but if I do then it’d take some valuable space in my house!”
@T-Bones420 What I’M trying to say is that, if they’re going to download it, then they wouldn’t care about deleting space for those ‘free’ games. And if they were partly responsible for the intrusion, wouldn’t they have been a part of the intrusion themselves? What I’m trying to say is that even though they messed up with the security, they didn’t plan on getting hacked, but I do agree with you on that reason, and that reason only. Sony is losing way more than you and the rest of the PS3 players and yet you still have something to complain about, like: “I want PSN up FFS.” They told you that it’d be up by the end of this month didn’t they? What more do you want? So many other people like you are saying stuff like: “Can we have a timeline?” LIke I said before they’ve already gave you one.

And as I’ve always believed, the only people that complain are the ones that can’t take action. If you guys complain so much, then just sell your PS3’s and get an Xbox 360 or something else of interest.
Free games will include LittleBigPlanet, inFAMOUS, wipEout HD, Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty, and Dead Nation.

To 849 – AliHaza – set up a NEW user account. I had the same problem and after talking to a supervisor/specialist, we set a new user account and BINGO! everything worked great. You will need to do this online and create a second user name but at least you can get online. Your old stuff that was saved to the PS3 is still there for offline games – I don’t know how you connect online data to a new user but give it a try. Remember, your old account is still there and you can probably update that password later when traffic slows down a little – Just a thought…….
